Adam Sandler is "The Cobbler"

Transphobic joke less than two minutes in. :|

How is that joke even remotely transphobic?

I mean it looks like a man in a womans set of clothes, so he puts his hands down his pants to check and yup, it's a penis.

At what point did is that transphobic?

Excuse my ignorance.

Changes nothing. The joke is genitals override gender expression.

You think a realistic reaction to an average guy putting his hands down his pants, touching a penis should be.

Yep, still a woman.

The person in the shoes is a man (SANDLER), and it's a man touching a penis. If I'm a man, touching my own penis and on the inside I feel like a man and I identify myself as a man, I'm pretty sure I'm still an man. At this point it's the other body thats wearing the female clothes, no matter what he's going to identify as a man by default. I can't see how you can hold that against him, especially in this situation?

What perfect line is he supposed to say to make you happy in this situation?

How does he not have enough money yet to just piss off on an island somewhere and stop trying to con people out of their hard earned money?

In way is he conning people? He's been making movies for long enough that you know what to expect from them. Nobody is being fooled into seeing an Adam Sandler movie.

It doesn't look funny but it does look decently charming. It definitely looks like the best movie Sandler has made in decades. I might watch this.

Ha @ "I'm a woman-- no I'm not!"

This is the first time I've been interested in a Sandler flick in awhile, so I'll probably catch this.

Looks good.

Adam Sandler is a capable actor, moreso in drama than comedy in my opinion, but the former doesn't make him anywhere near the money the latter does, so whenever he does make a more dramatic movie, I'm up for giving it a shot at least.

The budget doesn't look completely horrible at least. At least some work was put into the coloration of the film, which is more than I can say about his most recent work...

still this movie looks kinda bad.

That's the next Rob Schneider movie. He becomes a peach cobbler.

and then Rob Schneider playing Rob Schneider puts his Rob Schneider dick into the Rob Schneider Peach Cobbler.

Maybe it has something to do with people equating a person's genitals to their gender?

I actually laughed at that sound that played when he put on his father's shoes. Some dumb sci-fi sound, dunno why I just laughed.

It'll probably overstay its welcome but for now I'm saying it looks good. Hoping for something along the lines of Click here.

So am I. Click was good.

Where's the thief?

First thing I thought of when I saw the title. Then I wondered why Adam Sandler would be involved in a remake of a movie that spent decades in development hell, eventually became an Aladdin clone, and wound up in obscurity anyway.

After seeing the trailer, I'm reminded of the Twilight Zone episode "Dead Man's Shoes", where it turns out that the spirit of a dead gangster still lives in his shoes, and anyone who puts them on gets possessed by him.

I saw a poster for this last friday at my local theater and it made it look like a classic garbage Sandler movie, nothing to do with the tone pf this trailer, weird.

Well hopefully such people see the other way of looking at it. I look like one gender. Now I have just confirmed my sex which I already identified with my gender. Not every gender joke made is about attacking or insulting them.

Maybe Sandler could've replaced woman and man with female and male but the revised joke is still what it is.

After the Sony leaks this is surprising. Basically they are suckering in Sandler fans into watching a comedic drama instead of the comedy they expect. This advertising is to their insecurities safer than trying to appeal to people who would be interested in this type of movie (if they can get over it being a Sandler vehicle).

Moves from one Adam Sandler thread to another thread.

I wonder how terrible this movie is going to be? There is clearly a market for terrible movies in Hollywood considering how many bad movies Adam Sandler has made.

It looks at least as good as Click which was...you know...okay? I guess.

Looks good to me. I don't know how Sandler picks his movies, but this one feels like one of his attempts at making a decent movie with enough "Sandler " moments to satisfy his base(if that exists). I really like Big Daddy, Click, 50 First Dates and this feels like one of those movies.

Punch Drunk Love was another great one that isn't really Sandler. i still need to see Reign Over Me. shame it isn't on Netflix.

When Sandler acts, he's a damned good actor.

skipped this thread entire day, and now about to post a south park derpy-derp comment.

However, thought better of it and watched the trailer....

....and that's not bad at all. I'm surprised

The most successful man in Hollywood for a reason.

Is he?

....Well I mean, yeah I've heard the stories that his movies are basically paid vacations for him and his friends. To me, that's living the damn dream. Some people enjoy his movies, he has a good time, everyone wins.
