20000 hours. Jesus Christ. The guy must woke up. Played the game. Went to sleep. Over and over again. He should sue himself.

Judge please do this.

Is it a Wooden Mallet with +2 Stamina?

I don't think it's too much to ask corporations to assume some social responsibility when knowingly producing an addictive product.
I thought I was going to be the only person here who didn't have much sympathy for NCSoft, but I also don't think MMOs are ethical.

Corporations do not have social responsibility. Stop trying to put responsibility (which belongs to a person) on a corporation (which is an entity, not a person).

US Legal System is so funny.:lol I wonder though why serial murderers are not suing gun companies for selling them the guns?

WoW has an in game warning too, IIRC. Been clean a few months... Not even going to buy Cataclysm. I'm free*!

*Until FFXIV.

Sooner or later, if designers continue to design them with intent to addict players, they will be regulated.

MMOs are very similar to Casinos which are not only heavily regulated, but illegal in most States.

You have to be kidding. Regulate videogames because they are addicting? Let's regulate anything that some people love to spend a lot of times on! A joke.

The addictive qualities of a product is a main factor in product regulation.

As the popularity of "gaming" continues to grow and the general public begins to hear more and more stories of ruined lives, they will demand accountability from someone.

I could be wrong though...

The general public might just not give a fuck anymore.

20,000 Hours! 20,000! :lol

If you believe in the 10,000 hour rule he could have learned two skills to an almost mastery level. That's kind of depressing.

Whoever the fuck is regulating need to regulate all these 24 hour "arcades" popping up everywhere. There's dozens in my small city, and they only exist to con people out of their money.

You Americans and your need to sue somebody over something retarded at least once in his life!

How is this supposed to be ruled, he's going to be given x amount of dollars because the lazy fuck can't put his own clothes on?

Epic facepalm.............. and fuck that judge for actually allowing this bullshit case to continue.

This would have never happened if he had played FFXI instead. Can a fellow FFXI player help me get that quote before the game loads up everytime.

It's something around the lines of," Please do not forget about your family, friends, job, etc." I remember when I was little laughing at that statement. 6 years later I was still playing FFXI in my spare time...I didn't think it was funny anymore. :lol

Edit: Woops. Just saw it above from an earlier post. Yeah FFXI had itself covered with that god like statement. :D

Yes, heaven forbid we actually hold people accountable for their own lives.

Isn't there a website to deal with idiots like this? The one that basically ruined that boxy chick? Someone get on there and offer them some fresh meat.

My guess?

The courts would order companies to pay for programs which educate the public to the dangers of their products and offer help in overcoming addiction to their product.

Very similar to the way smoking/gambling is handled.

Punish the drug user not the drug dealer?

It's not like we're talking about something that's chemically addictive, though. That's a whole different can of worms.

Anyone can become addicted to anything if they do it enough. Should libraries post warnings that you could get addicted to reading books?
