For the everyday person it might as well be.
nah, just time consuming. still i find it incredibly surprising that a program can just extend off a picture and make something that looks so good and do it so fast.

Seriously, you look away from computers for a second and they'll mindfuck you when you look back.

Looks more or less identical to the puppet tool in After Effects. Makes sense that they'd bring it over to PS eventually.
Yep. I wonder what took so long. The AE puppet tool was in CS3, after all.

CS5 is now live on Adobe.com... You can check out all the new features. The video demos that are part of the launch tomorrow should be pretty awesome.

I highly recommend checking out the Rotobrush feature in AE and ShapeBuilder in Illustrator.

HOLY SHIT they fixed everything I hate about Illustrator.

I HAVE GOT TO HAVE THIS.
Yeah, I'm also curious about what got anyone excited like this.

Manual control over variable stroke width is a nice addition, though.

Can anyone provide direct links to some of these preview vids? I'm apparently too dumb to figure out anything on Adobe's goddamned website.

This is whats going to make me upgrade from Master Collection CS4 to CS5:

Illustrator: Beautiful Strokes, Shapebuilder Tool and Perspective Drawing.

Photoshop: Puppet Warp and Content Aware Fill.

After Effects: Roto Brush and 64Bit.

holy shit at the new features.
graphic designer wage bar has just been lowered confirmed.

I don't think you'll see much of a difference in what one could charge for work, but you should be able to take on additional work and not have it effect your deadlines.

Wasn't that the case already, if the job is just to clean up photos like that? It might be even cheaper to ship the jobs to India than to get CS5.

Holy shit at content aware... I was thinking of getting a new tablet this month, but I might just put some money aside for an upgrade instead. Shit looks hot.

What's new in Illustrator ? Fuck all.

Also, introducing a perspective grid into Illustrator ?? Fuck me. Freehand had this feature back in the year 2000! It's taken 10 years ? And people are supposed to pay for this ?

I love Photoshop, but Illustrator seems to be some neglected child, yet Adobe has its hand out every year after putting a couple of new bits in, never mind all the broken shit that's years old.

indeed. this needed fixing (though the new distort tool in the toolbar is a bit better. perspective tool looks broken to by the way (look at the lines on the road).

i love illustrator, but the upgrade is useless to be honest. NOT UPGRADING

Hold on to your wallet until you have a chance to try these 'magic' features in an actual production environment.

Regardless, clients are generally clueless when it comes to how things work. And in a big company this just gives you more time to do other more enjoyable things in your design work.

The content aware fill is pretty impressive, it obviously doesn't work 100% of the time but it gets you close enough that some small touch up work is all that is needed in the vast majority of edits. It is not "self aware" fill.

Rotobrush is the coolest addition to all the programs imo and will actually effect the cost of work in a substantial way.

agreed, it is not like you need to say to the client: oh this content aware thing fixes your project in like 5 minutes, i dont need your money.

That panorama thing was really fishy. It looked like a fucking mask he just deleted. I mean, the picture on the center didn't move an inch, and the image in the borders was totally new.
I don't know.

I don't see how it would profit them to be deceptive at this point. the product is shipping.

they're too credible of a company to fool someone like this, but they have solved heck of a mystery.
