Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP is the pension fund for employees in the government, public and education sectors. All of our 2.8 million beneficiaries have the assurance of income security for old age retirement, in the event of death or occupational disability. Non-profit and based on solidarity.

Association of Business Practitioners is also a possibility

god I love neogaf ad threads where somebody admits they are using adblock on the forum and they get banned

don't know if I should be proud or embarrassed for enjoying unwritten rules getting non-hermits banned

I use ad-blocking software, the internet is far too obnoxiously hideous without it.

I have neogaf.com in my exceptions list before the witch-hunt begins, although I would gladly pay the administrators of this site money and turn the blocking on. Fuck ads.

Something banworthy about Adblock Plus that I'm missing here?

Ads are one of the only ways sites like this can make money and continue operating.

So admitting or hinting that you use it on this site is a ban. In fact, maybe a permaban. Did redux have an avatar before?

The avatar thing has been confirmed not to indicate a perm.

Yet mods are happy for people to talk openly about pirating every piece of media under the sun in the OT. I don't use adblock because I just ignore ads but I think its an overreaction.

number of adblock related bans in the last 8 years: 13
number of piracy related bans in the last 8 years: 667

number of adblock related bans in the last 12 months: 4

In recent years they have cracked down on discussion of other forms of piracy to some degree, although there is obviously still rampant posting of copyrighted photographs and article text.

Boy, I bet you sure do feel silly now.

Back on topic, I haven't seen one of these oddly placed ads. Could it depend on the browser? I'm in Firefox 11 on OSX and I've seen no issues.

Hmm, are there any ads on the new mobile gaf? I can't see any, anyhow.

There should be a small text or plain-image ad in a black row below the header but above the posts; and a second one at the very bottom of the page. If you're not logged in, I think there's one after the first post and before the second post.

This is all i've seen on the mobile site so far. Very small text ads.

I think it's a bit harsh to perma people for that, but I can see why there's a rule against people using ad blocks.

Also no issues here in regards to the OP.

So how much does Mr. Redux ABP owe... bwahahahaha

Fistful was @$50

Only time ads piss off me off is on youtube

Sometimes I want to go listen to a commercials beat, use Shazam but I have to wait 30 seconds and watch another commercial before can I can watch the commercial... What in the World did I just write

More stats! This is pretty cool.

Do you guys actually have like a drop down menu or something for rule violations?

Eg. Soda (Ban/Jr) (Duration) (Violation list)

The rule is against advertising for it or suggesting it.

You can't do shit about what people use/do on their personal computer...

YES SIR!

I think the worst is when i'll be checking out some live footage for ..e.g Foo Fighters only to have a 30 second add for Lady Gaga or some shit that clearly has no business being advertised on that fucking video!

Really? I feel like i've seen around that amount in my time alone. These threads are always great bait for those people, though.

has it been written in the rules that you can catch a ban for saying you use adblock on gaf?
Nope, I remember reading all that shit a long time ago just to stay on the safe side, and don't remember seeing anything about adblockers.. unless it's changed since then.
I think it's better this way. :p

Like I said earlier, a bit harsh for a perma in my opinion.
How so? You're basically eliminating the only form of revenue this site generates for your own personal 'visual' preference. Who can believe a warning would change what that user would or wouldn't use.

Well people should definitely be punished for it, I just personally don't agree with it being a permanent ban.

Having said that I'm really not sure why anyone would bother getting rid of the ads, especially since they are barely noticeable.
