sounds awesome. treasure's been on a roll lately -- astro boy and gradius v are as good as anything they've ever done -- so i expect big things from this.

but did gamespot somehow neglect to mention whether it takes place on three discrete planes as the original did, or if you can move freely in the z axis as you can in double dragon or final fight? i've heard that it's the latter, but it'd be nice to see it confirmed.

No clue, but if you watch the video, your character moves in the X and Y plane and jumps, too.

Ah that does look like it plays very nicely, and the animation isn't as bad as I originally thought it would turn out to be. Definitely going on my buy list.
