Advanced Warfare or Ghosts (PS4) for a Casual player?

I want it for the SP campaign and some MP rounds every now and then. I know AW looks great but seems the campaign falls short and Ghost´s campaign is better.

Also I have Black Ops 2 on the Wii U, loved the campaign and I still play the MP.

So for a casual fan of quick MP sessions should I just stay with BOs 2 or get Ghosts or AW on PS4?

Also Ghosts is very cheap now. I always stay behind on this kind of games since I don´t play that often to justify full price.

FWIW I enjoyed AW much more than Ghosts- better campaign and MP

edit:Im also pretty casual too when it comes to CoD-style shooters

AW all the way. Ghosts from my experience was campfest and campaign was so-so. AW is much more enjoyable SP (too bad for awful ending) and MP wise.

Admittedly, I haven't played Ghosts, but I was under the impression pretty much everyone preferred Advanced Warfare's campaign.

Having played Advanced Warfare's campaign, I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for a Call of Duty campaign. It was good fun.

I enjoyed AW much more than Ghosts. Ghosts is by far the worst COD game I've ever played, and (regrettably) the only one I bought digital so it will sit there haunting my download list forever.

This isn't even a question. The Advanced Warfare campaign is about a trillion times better than Ghosts...

Ghosts is one of the worst in the series and that is no exaggeration.

Advanced Warfare. You can also play in lists without Exos if you want (not sure how populated those are though).

One of the best CoD games in General IMO, particularly in the campaign arena.

Ghosts was basically every cliche and awful stereotype about CoD distilled into a game. It was almost a parody, except played straight. Utterly trash game in every aspect.

Yeah, Ghost is bad. Don't think I trust shooter games from the new Infinity Ward, which is Neversoft in dIsguise.

The only thing I liked better in ghosts was the zombie/ alien mode. It is far better than exo zombies IMO. Everything else I would go AW.

I actually really liked ghosts mp and SP but I agree aw is probably a better cod. As far as prices go, if you can find ghost for less than $15 I don't think you're making a bad purchase personally.

AW has the more interesting campaign and would most definitely be the one I'd pick to play again, but for me they're pretty much just look, an enemy! Let's do a gun bullet in his face.

I think for casual player Ghosts would be better on the MP front. It is less chaotic, less to learn, less to master etc owing to the lack of the exo. In other words it is the easier game, and I prefer it over AW for that simplicity.

AW by a mile definately. People say that you could get shot from too many directions in AW, but I never had that problem like I did in Ghosts. It was hard to know which way to face going into a room because they'd have 3-4 entry points that you'd have to worry about. Thats coupled with some of the worst spawns I've ever seen, killing a guy, rounding a corner only to be shot in the ass by the same guy you just killed. It's not that it cant happen in other CoD games, its that it happens way too often in ghosts in comparison to the other titles.

Couldn't have agreed more. Sledgehammer's debut solo effort resulted in the most exciting campaign yet from a high action spectacle perspective. Multiplayer didn't get a hold of me, but boy the campaign's pacing is so good. The visuals, particle effects, lighting, character models, animation all simply sublime for COD standards on PS4.

Shooting a rocket before it gets launched, jumping from one moving bus to another, mid-air dronejacking, latching on to an airplane that's just taken off, blowing up cargo ships with a freaking rail gun, opening sequence of the game
. You can't miss the campaign of AW. Advanced Warfare's campaign is the one that comes close to Treyarch's Black Ops series(though AW's narrative isn't quite that engaging as Treyarch's).

Titanfall so you can get some practice for Black Ops III.

Otherwise AW is much better.

Edit: Completely missed that OP was on PS4.

Ghosts had a pretty rubbish campaign. AW's was much better. I prefer the BLOPS SP's though. I rarely play MP so I think I'm in the minority who play COD's for the SP.

I liked both campaigns (then again I've enjoyed all the COD campaigns), but I'd give the nod to Advanced Warfare there.

Still, you can get Ghosts for less than $10 now. Campaign's fun enough for that much.

Ghosts was alright but felt pretty bland and uninspired. Advanced Warfare made a lot of changes and added new features to the traditional CoD experience and the result was a lot of fun.

Haven't played Advanced Warfare but I can't imagine that campaign being worse than Ghosts, especially after what others have said about the campaign actually being compelling. I remember next to nothing about Ghosts' storyline (oh I guess there's a family and a dog whatever) and it's a bit of a slog to get through even though it's only five hours. I'd only recommend it if you could find a copy for ten bucks or less, which is what I paid for it.

Ghosts was the definition of mediocre. The campaign was terrible. I just basically walked through without giving two shits. Not even using the run button, just slowing walking through bored out of my mind. The multi is second worst behind MW3. The only redeeming aspect is Extiction, and it's not as good as Zombies (but much better than MW co-op modes).

AW MP can be pretty brutal for a casual gamer. By now people have mastered the exo suits pretty well.

eh I got on AW during the steam free weekend and held my own fairly decently (having not played a COD in earnest since blops 1)

I've played shooters for 20+ years now though

dunno about OPs experience with shooters overall but it's not too bad

Advanced Warfare Campaign and Multiplayer are way better. If you buy Ghosts, you will have a difficult and boring time with a lot of campers in Multiplayer.

If you are not into everyone jumping everywhere, ghosts, if you are into jumping everywhere, AW. Both are bad cod mp games in my opinion (I really wanted to like AW)

I'm in the minority, but I thought Ghosts was better. I can't see what people liked so much about AW, seemed like more of the same to me, for some reason it felt way more on-rails than the other CoD's. It just seemed like you would walk to the end of every corridor and press square.

This opinion is based purely on the campaign.

Ghost was utter trash so AW is the obvious answer.

Though if I were you, I would probably wait it out to BO3. I enjoyed the BO singleplayer offerings better so far. I wouldn't call AW's multiplayer that casual friendly either with that nutty movement system.

I literally do not understand the hate for Ghosts.

- Lifeless guns

- Poor netcode

- Ass graphics & framerate

- Awful spawns (Die once, respawn 10 feet from the enemy, die again 1/2 second later)

- Terrible maps (Huge, sprawling multi-level maps that made it impossible to find someone)

- Assault Rifles & Snipers overly dominant (see point above)

- Terrible knifing system

- Shitty killstreaks

- Everything is so damn brown and grey it hurts

- IW never listened to a word anyone said (more health lmao)

Verdict: The only place this game belongs is in the dumpster. Absolute trash game from back to front.

EDIT:

- BLITZ (Like CTF but without returning the flag, turrible game mode)

- No hardpoint

- Overpowered grenades

- Bad story

Do it. It's a ton of fun! I have FPS games on other platforms that I take more seriously, so I play AW on the PS4 when I want to relax in my living room and just shoot dudes and watch stuff blow up. The multiplayer is a blast for that, it's pretty, it runs well, and I haven't had any headaches trying to jump in and play games. The gimmicky movement and jetpacks add a lot of fun to the casual side of it.The campaign is alright too. It's not special but it's fun.

BLOPS 3 is coming out probably around November, though, so it AW might not be a great buy at $60, but that's for you to decide. You can probably get it for $40 easily if you look around.

I'd rather play Ghosts multiplayer simply because I bought the first two dlc map packs for it, and they rock more than AW. Love the bonus guns as well.

6 months into AW...I find myself wanting to play Ghosts instead. Same with all the dudes I've been playing COD with since MW2. Exo novelty wore off about a month in.

To each his own.

Ghosts mp is better for casual players because of squads mode (bot mode with progression). Sp is better in aw (though the story is cringe inducing). Zombies is ok but no progression. Ghosts has to be dirt cheap so I would start there.
