After Marth/Lucina, who is the most iconic/recognizable Fire Emblem character?

Sorry OP but while I'd love to say it's you my vote goes to Ike.

Simply because he's a Smash Character and got a lot of presence because of that.

Since the only Fire Emblem game I've ever played was the one for the GBA I'mma go with my girl right here.

She's the first thing that pops up when I think for FE.

Lucina is definitely top 5, don't see why everyone is paying her dust. I'd say she's higher than Corrin and Robin, but pretty much everyone featured in smash are at the top

Probably Ike. He starred in two games (though I guess he more stole the starring role in the second) and showed up in the two latest Smash games. Roy is more of a Smash character now, like Captain Falcon.

Probably Tiki considering that she appears in 6 games including #FE.

Her constant shifts in design and tendency to be absent from the main marketing material of games would set her back from being recognisable to a general audience. As of Awakening and Fates, Anna's probably a more major figure as far as cross-game mascots go.

Chrom and everyone in smash now is the right answer. With Tharja at the end of all that.

Tharja and Chrom would be roughly comparable - even though her trophy was removed from Smash and Chrom had a background role both there and in Project X Zone, she has a bigger merchandising presence (that statue is a critical part of Fire Emblem's cultural impact), much more appealing and memorable design (especially comparing their #FE looks); and significantly bigger role in Fates compared to Chrom's cameo.

Sorry OP but at this point I think that even Corrin and Aqua are more popular than Chrom.

Having said that his cameo on Fire Emblem: Fates is glorious and I almost teared up a biT when he
finds Robin
at the end of Before Awakening so...

Your average person still has no idea who any Fire Emblem characters are. So I wouldn't say Iconic for any of them. In terms of recognizable they're all "guy with sword" if we're talking about the Smash characters. But people who play Smash is undoubtedly a larger audience than people who play FE. At this point considering that, it's probably Ike. But again, that's only considering people already interested in video games and specifically those familiar with Smash Bros (and not just the N64 one).

As someone who has never played Fire Emblem outside of the sacred stones (which I didn't like or complete) I can tell you that the only characters I even do recognize are Marth, Ike and Camilla.
The first two from Melee and Brawl, of course.

You'll get your chance another day, Chrom

I'd say probably Ike, mostly thanks to Smash Bros... just the like the rest of them :P

Other than that, probably someone from FE 1/3 and its many remakes. Perhaps Shiida, since she's pretty much the one who recruits all the units to Marth's side... or maybe Tiki for being the infamous 1000-year old little girl dragon.

Oh right, there was the whole Tharja's ass thing too. I'm sure a few non-Fire Emblem players recognise her now because of that whole hubbub

To be honest, for people who...

1. Started Smash with Brawl (a lot of people)
2. Who have never played FE, but have played Smash (also likely a lot of people)

I tend to find those sort of people actually find Ike to be the most popular FE character. He's really fun to play in Smash, easy to learn, and has a nice character design. And doesn't speak Japanese, which is actually kind of confusing for casual players, I've found, despite it making sense in context and as a nice nod to FE's history. Marth is just another random dude in Smash for them, but Ike is Ike, the Free For All king who fights for his friends.

My mom, for example, really likes Ike. She watched me play PoR for a few hours and thought Ike was a cool guy, and then him appearing in Smash, another game she enjoys watching, just reinforced it for her. She has no idea who Marth is.

Funny enough, my grandma knows who Marth is due to some interesting circumstances. She heard me talking to my brother about how I couldn't find him the Marth amiibo he wanted, and so she did a bunch of research on who Marth was and what an amiibo was and ended up importing a Marth from Japan for my brother's birthday. Which was sweet, and now she knows who Marth is.

Lucina is definitely not on the same level as Marth, Roy and Ike in popularity. Are you serious?

Lucina is definitely more popular than Roy, maybe not Ike, though. Lucina is super popular.

And this is coming from someone who loves Roy in Smash Bros.

If they aren't in smash bros they don't make the most recognized list. Marth, Ike, Roy, Robin, Lucina, and Corrin are the most recognizable.

Yep, this is basically the short list of the characters from FE who could be deemed "popular"

Right. I completely agree. I actually said Ike in my post.

I do think Marth is more representative as a poster boy for the series in Japan though. But even there I'm not really sure how "Iconic" that makes him.

Probably went with Eirika's route. You should always choose Ephraim.

Ike.
Does 'I know that character is from Fire Emblem but I have no idea what their name is?' count? I'd argue Pegasus knights are the most instantly recognizable class in the series.

Pretty much any FE character in Smash are recognizable. Most people probably don't know what game Ike is from, they just know him as a character in Smash.

I would argue that Robin and Lucina are better known because Awakening was a hit. Roy is in a similar position as Ike because of the Smash series. Honestly if it wasn't for Smash, we may have not even seen FE in NA.
