But that why I see it so strongly as a unofficial sequel or even a prequel.
From the start it shows that the death game is a TV show.

Heck, I dare to say it is a sequel to Danganronpa V3.

Think this:
Wouldn't this be a giant spoiler for the V3 game if the new Danganronpa of the bat shows that it was just a TV show?
For that reason the Dev made the obvious (for me) decision:
Danganronpa is dead, long leave Death March Club.

Possible was real at some point.
After all the The Mastermind was a copycat.

Future Foundation is the villain.
