Agents of Mayhem (Volition) Coming August 2017

it's single player not multiplayer focused, not sure if it's open world or level based though

open world

IdolNinja mentioned on the Steam forum that missions were built around the open world (like SR2), instead of self-contained levels like SR3/4. Lots of indoor areas and places to explore apparently, as well.

As far as I'm concerned, the more SR2 influences, the better.

Hmm trailer didnt show much actual gameplay, this holiday is gonna be a blood bath for open world games though.

after the initial reveal I was skeptical, but that trailer completely sold me

if that keep that Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic even in the game itself, it'll be fantastic

Guess I need to post this again since there are some people who seem to have already forgotten after 2 page. Wow, how the mind slips!

"Allegedly"

Opening admitting to sexually assaulting someone(then banning anyone who called him out for it)

Posting revenge porn with their real full names then another admin(a now jailed pedophile) printed the photos and jacked off over them and sent it to the boyfriend.

You're right, how can we even know if he's guilty or not? HMMMM

Trailer wasn't great but some of the early gameplay footage looked pretty fun. Plus I'm a sucker for the whole character switch dynamic.

Better, but still need to see more. The gameplay footage from E3 2016 looked really, really rough. I've enjoyed many of Volition's previous games, so I hope to see a much improved build at this year's show.

supposedly the gameplay has been significantly improved since the E3 build. IdolNinja hinted on the Saints Row Mods forum that more footage will be shown off this week, including on Volition's weekly Twitch stream

Looking forward to this. It coming out the same month as Shadow of War isn't a good thing for me. Will most likely only be able to get one near launch and the other will have to wait until somewhere down the line. Not sure which one I want more, yet.

Good to hear! I hope it's come a long way.

The action also feels oddly tame to me. Based on the language, they're clearly getting an M rating, but they seem to be going very light on the violence. I don't need a shower of guts and organs, but the blood effects are there and gone in a heartbeat and don't even spatter on the ground. Maybe they're aiming for a PG-13 feel.

That trailer was million times better than than the reveal and the new agents are more interesting than the original three they showed off (I especially like the dancing black dude, minigun woman, and frozen brute clone). If the tone of the game is actually like this trailer then it should be some great fun.

Now hopefully there is some vehicle combat or racing because it would suck if this game was just an arena shooter. Open-world games need more than that to hold my interest and the Saints Row games always had a bunch of fun activities to do.

This looks pretty cool. Seems to be an open-world game like Saints Row but you can swap between characters with different weapons and abilities on the fly? Really eager to see some proper gameplay footage because I'm still having some trouble understanding what this game is, but it's got a great style and attitude. And those preorder bonus cosplay outfits are fun.

Volition knows how to do open world stuff right, and reigning things back in a bit from SR4 in favor of a more varied playable cast instead of just maximum crazy superpowers all the time seems like a good idea.

Huh. Yeah, I don't know. As someone who loved Saints Row 2, the Third and IV for different reasons, I'm not feeling this one yet. A stronger story hook would help, right now this just seems like Pop Culture References Salad. Saints Row was definitely that in its later incarnations but it didn't feel like it was relying solely on references for its appeal and it didn't have to start from scratch with a completely new cast and setting.

Really bummed they are taking out co-op. Wife and I were super into the co-op since Saints Row 2.

and this is all the information I needed to know if I cared about the game (as it wasn't really clear how the game played but the rest of the thread clarified that already)

no co op means no buy from me as I have strictly played the saints row series co op and would rather replay one of those with my friend then play a new game like one alone.

Do you play any singleplayer games?

Do you play any singleplayer games?

I do play some, but i have no interest in playing this type of game single player. I wouldn't have played any saints row games single player either. I have fun in games like this by playing it with my college friend.

The majority of games I play anymore are co op games. My backlog of single player games that interest me more than this game in general is huge. If it was co op though it could go near the top of games to play as I always need more co op games to play with my wife and college friend.

This looks interesting and I loved all the Saints Row games. Probably a wait for sale though, cuz it's coming in the same month as Shadow of War and that looks really good. Will definitely keep my eye on this though. :D

I've loved all the Saints Row games so I'm definitely getting this. This also gave me a Crackdown vibe. Hoping for more gameplay footage by E3.

I hadn't been following the game much because it looked dumb, but I'm watching dansgaming play this game now and it's looking a lot better than I expected. The first things that jumped out to me are the movement and the world. I was expected a more grounded feel to the movement but the characters are jumping around from building to building like Crackdown or sunset overdrive.

Also the world looks pretty big and diverse. A ton going on. There's crafting armory, quests( I honestly i was expecting more along the lines of Crackdown 1 when it came to objectives for this game)

However the humor so far feels really grating and the gunplay doesn't seem to great from a third person shooter perspective. But then again sunset had bad shooting and it didn't hamper the game too much imo

Overall I'm suprised at how good it looks. It's def on my radar now

This guy seems to have the game early on PC and playing through it. It looks pretty bad imo. Like they took the crazy fun things out of a Saints Row game.

I thought it looked like a fun time tbh as with all of Volitions games, it just doesn't look like something that will blow your mind, I do love being able to control multiple agents though that looks like fun. I think they are releasing it at the perfect time though in August, it would get absolutely slaughtered after this month. At least it has a chance.

Also, if you want to take a look at the Johnny Gat DLC - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1SndqYa2K4

I kind of like Volitions aesthetic since SR2, so I'm kinda want to play this at some pint even though I prefer the single main character and customization narrative of the SR games.

But all the DLC tells me that I'm better off waiting for a goty edition

This looks like a Crackdown clone with the superpowers removed.

Ehhhhhh. Not sure how fun that would be. What makes Crackdown Crackdown is becoming superhuman and jumping from building to building fucking shit up.

Visually this is MUCH nicer than Crackdown 3 though.

This game is really sneaking up isn't it? Honestly, I think it looks fun and have for a long time. Moment-to-moment gameplay seems to be on point if nothing else and the adult cartoon presentation and style seems better now than when it was first announced.

But as I say in every thread about it, no co-op is a monumental ball drop. Running around open worlds with friends is probably the hottest trend in gaming right now and everything about Agents of Mayhem screams, "Co-op!" but alas. I hope Volition is working on a patch as we speak.

Not every game needs co-op. Particularly not open world titles. The "no co-op, no buy" thing is basically demanding developers water down their game design.
