I'm pretty excited for this. It doesn't look very high budget, but it seems like it'll be a fun procedural-type show.

I AM hoping, however, that if it does well the budget goes up.

Coulson's rookie partner has such a punchable face. I'm sure he's a great fellow and decent actor, but... I kinda wanna punch him in the face.

They should bump the budget up a bit, I think we're gonna see the obvious low budget after the pilot airs and then the regular season is toned down a bit, I'd think. Looks okay though from the trailer.

Quite a few Whedonisms and obvious tropes, but then again The Avengers had some too. I'm not entirely worried since Jed Whedon and his wife are working on it, and they've pretty much been working on Spartacus which has none of the typical Whedonisms so I think they'll know when to turn it down/turn it off if they need to.

Hey I predicted TDKR would be ass due to Nolan not knowing his comics and TDK was a fluke of a success just due to the Joker performance.

He can stick to non comic movies. Has no respect for the medium. Why Avengers and the MCU will be better. Whedon respects the comics.

Hmm trailer was cut pretty bad but i'm still in for this, looks like it'll be some cheesy fun.

I love Batman comics. I've read virtually every major story arc from Year One to the on-going Leviathan story arc--what makes you feel Nolan doesn't respect the comics? I certainly don't feel that way. Overall, I loved how he handled the universe.

thought the trailer is just ok, not great, but this detailed analysis of the trailer actually make me very excited for it.

Not feeling any of the actors.

So, is this going to be random made up people with powers? A crappier Heroes?

looks like early eps will focus on dealing with scrapped alien tech from the avenger battle. item 47 shorts show a couple of scientist using alien gun, and in the tv show, someone appear to use some kind of alien tech to make super powered people.

maybe it'll be like meteor rock in smallville creating villain of the week thing. this time, you got various people get their hands on some alien tech for their villain of the week.

I mean, with heroes there was decent character development to extract from the crap. Person of the week dealios and a pretty boring agent cast is knocking it down a few tiers for me.

Ah, I'll have to watch that short film.

why would they have to make up people with powers when there are literally thousands of Marvel characters they can use?

Seems like they'd say they are going to tap into the vast catalogue to hype the show. Get some feedback on who people want to see. Good showrunners listen to the fanbase.

The item 47 alien tech proposal and there appatently being no comcrete info there brings out the pessimistic side in me.

“It means someone really wanted our initials to spell out SHIELD."

At this moment the trailer was already better than Iron Man 3. Can't wait.

doesn't look that good, do I have to watch this to get what's going on in the marvel cinematic universe films that take place after this show?

Life Model Decoy's were a pretty core technology in the old Nick Fury Agent of Shield comics in the 80's so thats gotta be how they address how he didn't die.

Now they just need to bring back the original Nick Fury and DumDum Dugan have some epic hydra and AIM battles..could be good.

Nolan in interviews with his comments about the core demography of comics and Robin. Then the fact he turned Robin into a joke, destroyed Bane completely and such.

Majority of Bat fans absolutely loathe what Nolan did in TDKR and agrees that he doesn't respect the material, which is why he changed it so much.

They do?

I... don't think so? What majority? How can you prove it was the majority?

I liked Nolan's movies a lot. I consider myself a Bat fan.

A lot of the ones I talked to who read comics heavily, yes.

The more you rewatch his movies, the more you see that he doesn't respect the medium. TDK really wasn't good outside of Heath Ledger's The Joker. TDKR was a mess. Well, BB was good and TBH the only one I enjoyed.

I thought Loki killed him? Did they explain how he is still alive?

I have a theory. Just kidding, my homeboy had the idea, I'm just stealing it from him
Coulson is a prototype LMD (life model decoy, fancy ass super android basically) Why this is important is because there are 2 important LMD in Avengers canon. Vision and Ultron.

Vision and Ultron aren't LMD.

didn't ultron take the original human torch from the 50's(which was an android) and reprogram him and upgrade it and thats the Vision?..or did Marvel rewrite that origin?

I love the comics. They respect the medium. Nolan's Robin is one the purest characters in the series. Nolan didn't disgrace Robin. The only thing that bothered me is that when she asks why he doesn't use his real name, she should have said Richard.

The trilogy captures Batman, Scarecrow, Joker, Falcone, Maroni, Dent, Gordon, Kyle, etc., all very well.

I liked what he did with Bane, too. Bane was supposed to be Ra's successor in the comics at one point.

Sorry you didn't like them, but I wouldn't say they didn't capture the essence of the characters. I thought they did quite well.

EDIT: I dont' want to turn this into a Nolan thread, though. Sorry guys.

J. August will NOT be playing Luke Cage according to producer Jeffrey Bell.

IGN: And I’ve got to ask about J. August Richards…

Bell: Killed it! He’s so good. He’s so good, because we were looking for this character M-- I almost said his name. It’s not the one people are talking about.

[Editor's Note: Yes, it kind of sounded like Bell was about to say a name beginning with an M... but maybe he just made a strong "HMM" sound when he stopped himself! Ah, so much to ponder.]

IGN: He’s not! So I’m going to say Luke Cage, and you’re going to say...

Bell: I’m going to say that’s an interesting Marvel character, but no. But he came in and killed it. Honestly, we were looking for this part, and we just said, look, all our parts are open to all diversity. So the fact that we have a black dude who is awesome and it's J, was just because he was the best actor. It wasn’t like, “You know who…!”

EDIT:Beaten

I thought vision definitely was?

No.
Ultron was a robot/android built by Hank Pym/Ant-Man. Vision was an android built by Ultron.

LMDs, as their name suggests, are robotic decoy versions of humans. Nick Fury is generally the guy who got all of dem LMDs all the time, but there's also been some of Maria Hill, Sharon Carter, Tony Stark and others.

Nick Fury even has an evil LMD that thinks it is the real Nick Fury.
