Oh yes. I finally thought of another one. It doesn't annoy me...but when people change their avatars...it takes a while to associate that person again with their new avatar. AHEM: Halycon.

yeah this confuses me sometimes as well. Also when people are banned sometimes you're not sure what they are banned for. Sometimes the post they are banned for isn't their latest post or its because of a pm. It would be unreal if there was something in their profile that says why they were banned and how long for.
 
Can you check the amount of time someone is banned? I still don't know how you can tell from a regular ban and a permaban.

I think you only can if you're the person getting banned or are a mod.

I think you can PM a mod but ymmv on that one; otherwise I don't think there is any way to tell.

Permabans don't always live up to their name...
 
I hate people who can't type worth a shit. Screwy punctuation, little to no capitalization, randomly pressing Enter instead of just letting word wrap do its job. It's pretty sad that we have a number of non-native English speakers here who type better than some native English speakers.

Also, I hate when I see that someone's banned, then I go and look at their post history and can't figure out why they're banned.

Some very clever people
Some people think they know everything, but you google their quotes, and they are directly from another website
No sense of hierarchy and evens admins get stick sometimes

What do i hate?
People who use ignore lists......Why? you think you're better than others?
And seconding the person on page one who hates threads being locked without a post from an admin as to why.
Quoting posts over and over again, like the same post being quoted in the next 50 posts..... Sheesh
 
I don't get it... why ignore people when you'll miss out on the joke everyone in the thread is pointing and laughing at. Plus, as you're scrolling down, you can kinda catch with the corner of your eye the poster's avatar so you have an idea of what's coming. If you hate what you see, move on.

This. The locking of threads around here often seems to be based simply on what annoys a random mod, which, you know, really isn't moderation.

Too often you feel like you have to completely walk on eggshells in order to avoid getting your thread locked or getting yourself banned.

Quoting Shidoshi, but echoing the sentiments of all who posted along these lines.

The only things I really dislike are not knowing why threads have been closed or people have been banned. Very confusing; and some kind of public explanation would keep everyone in the loop. Just a sentence at the end of a locked topic, or in someone's profile. It would also help the rest of us learn some of the subtler specifics regarding what not to post and why.
 
I think wenis is a pretentious douche who isn't funny at all and needs a swift kick in the pants.

There was a redesign in the works recently. I assume it's still coming but I haven't heard much about it. Personally, I like the simple, minimal look. Forums can look tacky if they have too much going on visually.

if there was one thing I don't like about GAF, it's that bannings can seem a tad random, a lot of time fairly innocuous jokes can result in bans if they're seen by the wrong person. It can be a bit stifling but on a forum this size that is inevitable I suppose.

I really need to adblock the image in the top left... I hate having to leave OT scrolled down when I'm in class so people don't figure out I post on a video game message board.

Never. It's fine with the way it looks. Sometimes simplicity works best and it clearly works for GAF.

Speaking of which, use of that emoticon by itself in a post has artificially expanded too many a thread lately. I realize that not posting it could lead to a situation like SuburbanCowboy's (where he feels he's being ignored for making a clever/funny statement), but I feel that perhaps a person shouldn't post unless they can add something to the conversation.
 
That we still don't have that smiley shaking his fist as the third official one. :(

I don't hate on individual posters, I just ignore them.
