Yeah because keeping quiet about child rape is the same as not getting mixed up in a husband and wife's marital issues.

I am a member of mind your own business gaf, but geez i feel like some of y'all don't realize the world isn't black and white. If someone comes itt and seriously says they should mind their own business or asks why was she reading his private texts then I'd be surprised.
Seriously. The mental lengths some people go to ignore context just so they can get a smarmy internet post in is pathetic.

Shouldn't be that hard. Even if he didn't label his contacts they've got her number.

The teacher did good documenting it just in case.
Yeah, that is true. She did a great job. I work for a preschool so things like this make my stomach turn.

You can easily read the texts on people's phones even if they don't set the font size larger. I do it all the time on the bus.

Yep that's why my ass sits in the back in the corner. I don't need no nosy people in my shit and if someone's clearly straining I'll put my stuff away until I can be somewhere private. That and privacy screens usually solves most peeping.

Thankfully this dude was an idiot.

Inb4 GAF "why was she looking at his private phone conversations" group arrives.

Lucky kids that the perp was such a dumbass. Lucky prosecution as well.

Is this actually a group of people here that exists?

This woman deserves a medal. Hope those kids are ok and get the treatment they need, if anything did happen to them.

Is it true that inmates make the lives of child abusers a living hell? I hope so.

A case in which a passenger on a plane acts nosy in a good way.

None of that "Calculus is a terrorist plot" stuff.

Truly a hero. Here's hoping that the abuse never actually took place and the children were saved from experiencing it. If not, at least it's over and they can help get the help they are going to need.

I hope the adults in question get the BOOK thrown at them.

looking at another persons phone conversations is a dick thing to do, but like most things, this is a clear exception to that rule.

If it was large enough she could easily make out some workds that raised alarms, please read, take pictures, film it, contact the authorities. This woman is a hero.

Everyone in the cell block of these people should receive a memo saying what they are in for. They deserve a proper welcoming party.

Ugh. That "But it was role play" excuse is maddening but all too familiar for scum like this. Good on this woman, she made a big difference for a child's life. Years ago, I was an Admin on a certain Final Fantasy board we had a journal section for people to share their thoughts and there was a guy who constantly talking about running away with a young girl always pining for her despite knowing how "wrong " it was. The guy had Kodomo no Jikan (controversial anime about a young first grader falling head over heels for her teacher) images. Reported to the guy's local PD with transcripts, but sadly never heard anything back. It was probably too little to go on. This story reminds mine of that.

As someone who knows firsthand I'm not sure what I'd do in the same situation. Probably would've lost my cool. I do like what another poster suggested in publicly humiliated him.

So the context in which a man has inserted his seatmate into his conversation as an object to disparage is just one where one should mind their business...k

I agree with this 100%. Uncovering a heinous crime =/= escalating an insult that was sent privately.

I also support citizens tackling a crazed man with a gun, but wouldn't support them tackling someone that litters. If you see those stances as hypocritical then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Teachers are mandated reporters, we are obligated to report if we suspect if children are being abused. Still I'm glad she did.

Well yes, and under normal situations that group is probably fairly large.

I'm pretty shocked this happened on a plane from Seattle to San Jose. It's weird that this kind of thing can happen anywhere. Really really happy that this happened. Think how easy it would be for this to never be exposed.

Disturbing. Hope the kids get the help they will need.

IMO dont get the hero talk though, if she didn't do something after noticing texts about molestation she'd be pretty fucked up.

Smart to snap photos though.

Yes. Context is a thing. It's not a difficult concept to grasp.

Reporting possible child molestation to police = A-OK at all times.

Taking photos of another person and putting them on blast to the world to promote your personal brand = Shitty behavior no matter if your name is Ann Coulter or if you are some random fitness blogger.

Yes, context is a thing, whoever said it wasn't? And if you accidentally happened over someones conversation that doesn't involve you in anyway is one thing. But if some random starts shit talking you while sitting right next to you, you're damn well within reason to call them out. And the woman did not expose his face, hardly "shitty behavior".
