Weren't they teasing a steam release recently?
Is a Vita port of 999 a serious contender among other ports? I'd love to complete the trilogy on the one platform...
1. the returning characters barely act like themselves.
2. direction is sloppy resulting in cutscenes that are a very poor replacement for bust-ups.
3. the main twist is fucking stupid and the writing is awful in general.
4. while 999 and vlr had some ideas it toyed with, like the morphogenetic field and the split timeline, ztd jettisons any of that in favor of bad soap opera drama.
5. vlr is relegated to a bad end in ztd.
6. the english voice acting, while optional, is spotty at best.
7. the pacing sucks: it goes from story-story-story to puzzle-puzzle-puzzle-puzzle and then story-story-story. 999 and vlr mixed it up a lot better.
it's not just disappointing. it's a bad game.
I enjoyed it immensely. Was it as good as the others in the series? No, but that's also like saying that this NY Strip is cooked just a little too long versus the two you had before. At the end of the day, you're still having a steak. It wasn't the best of the series, but still one of my favorite games this year.Ah. So it was just disappointing.
That's gotta suck.
Though I'd argue gameplay wise it improves on LVR, which already was a significant improvement over VLR. Since I also enjoyed the story a lot (though not as much as LVR's), I'm happy with the game.
Maybe they will also make new visual novels by the same team under the Zero Escape moniker without directly continuing the story? Like for instance in the Final Fantasy series...
Anything other than that 999 remake and I'm out, ZTD was such a trainwreck that it completely killed my interest in the future of the franchise
As AniHawk said, play it on DS. It isn't just a case of platform preference for 999, despite outward appearances the dual screens are absolutely essential for the story and a massive plot twist.
I didn't realize ZTD was a bad game.
What happened? It seemed to be everybody wish come true. All I know that something happen with the preorder watches, but I never read to much into it.
I've been waiting to start this series. Please release 999 on PC already. Yes I have 999 for the DS and never played it more than 10 minutes, but I still want to start on PC.
Pc and Vita release info, I would guess
No way it's Ze4, if it is it's not directed by Uchi.
The best enjoyment of 999 can only be gained from playing on the DS.
This nonsense needs to stop.
Seriously, the game will be fine on just about any platform provided Chunsoft doesn't strip the room escape scenes again.
Ever 17 was fine on PC.
Root Double was fine on X360/PC.
There's really no reason for 999 not to work on PC. Really.
Except that the biggest twist was reliant on the platform it released on.This nonsense needs to stop.

How? We never got ZE3.It's got the number 4 in that hashtag. Maybe it's a ZE4?
Why? He's 100% correct. This nonsense needs to stop.
Some people so salty over ZTD, jesus.
But PC players will miss out onmeta DS dual screen story telling
How? We never got ZE3.
Why
Well, sorry for being salty over a game that I desperately wanted to see exist for more than 2 years being a crock of shitSome people so salty over ZTD, jesus.
They realised ZTD sucked and are making it non-canon and trying again at ZE3.

^Need more info please. If a random PC game can make your Steam friends PM you during gameplay to do Satan's bidding, 999 can surely handle whatever it sets out to accomplish just fine.
This is what's getting people wound up. I can only assume that the only way anyone can seriously imply ZTD is actual shit is if they haven't actually played a bad visual novel. It's not a two point scale where the options are "Great job uchikoshi" and "Fuck you Uchikoshi".
It's still in the upper echelons of the genre, even if it had questionable new gimmick and wasn't a satisfying ending.

Right, that was totally what I was looking for. Satisfying ending? Nah. A good new gimmick? Nah. It to be better than most of the VN trash out there? Yep!It's still in the upper echelons of the genre, even if it had questionable new gimmick and wasn't a satisfying ending.
It's not a BAD game, but it's just much weaker than 999 and VLR so it leaves you with a somewhat meh feeling. I'm very, very glad the game even exists in the first place, but I feel somewhat disappointed by its quality.I didn't realize ZTD was a bad game.

A sequel that just handwaves away most of its prequel's hanging questions and plot threads. Utterly horrendous presentation and cutscenes. Barely any new soundtracks outside of puzzles. Just one big twist behind it all that wounds up being pretty much pointless. This is what's getting people wound up.
