Akuma and Taskmaster revealed! BONUS: Haunts' ace character recap #851

Eight-way Tenraiha, can be aimed like Shinku Hadouken. Believe.

Anyway, would hope Tenraiha is still a lvl 1, and also has the same motion (adapted to light, strong, medium, medium, up), making it prime to cancel into from magic series combos.
What would the point of that be when all supers in MvC are cancelable from all normals in the first place?

Actually I received more info about Tenraiha in Marvel 3, but I just edited it to just be Tenraiha confirmed. =P
As long as the info wasn't "Drops Fujin/Raijin/GEESE TOWAH statues that cause instant death for the enemey team!" that ok! ^_^

Just a nice input. Instead of having go go into qcf's from crouching attacks, or fumbling over command normals from going to DF -> F, it'd be a nice suprise that could bie hidden easily while landing from jumps, or doing ducking chains.

As far as fighting physical friends in person, the lack of joystick clicks would help hide actual intent, as well! (insert laughing smiley here.)

Nice input my ass. Those whacked out Raging Demon type nonsense inputs are holding back scrubby pad warriors like myself in Vampire Savior and if they're never seen again nothing of value would be lost. :P

I'm expecting:

QCF - item throw
DP - pendulum
QCB - gong
HCB/RDP - throw

QCB - Tenraiha
QCF - swords
DD - Dark Force

XD I remember when I was younger, I spent like 2 hours in training mode to get Raging Demon down. Then I had a friend who couldn't do it for the life of him in SFEX challenge mode a few years later, and I had to visit his house to show him how it was done... He was quite pissed when something he'd be struggling with, I did before he even described the issue...

...SO I understand your pain, lol. But having used it in DS3 myself lately, I just find it so instant and versetile... it's so much harder to predict while doing random footsies (which doesn't matter much in Marvel, though) and general movement, and I've now found it almost more natural than other QCF motions...

But if it worked out like you're predicting, I wouldn't complain! (I wonder if she'll have "E" button variations of any of her normals, for EX-like moves...) Then again, now I wonder if she'll have to use E to cancel Pendulum swing, since there's no proper "kick" button in this game...

Team "We Know MORE about Swingin!" Lei-Lei / RAD(ical) Spencer / Taskmaster

So no charge characters in this game, huh. I wonder if they'll make Shuma Gorath non-charge. Can't imagine they'd keep him the only charger.

Too bad Guile's not in this. It would have been awesome to see what they could do with him to make him an offensive non-charge character for once.

Chun Li and Felicia have charge moves! It'd be odd to see a Guile specifically made for MvC, moreso than the MvC2 variation. Would he even be Guile anymore? Maybe not as loved, buy Remy would probably be more fitting...

Capcom, since they need to make up for development costs with DLC, for the explanation why they were going with PDLC. Said it in some PR a long way back.

lol you believe that? Its PR.

Ending spoilers:

Ghost Rider in Dante's ending, Nightcrawler in Trish's.
:D

Can't wait for the Sentinel reveal, it can't come soon enough!

Probably PR, but Capcom has had quite a few flops recently, so it's not hard to believe why they've set up this model and ran with it. They want to DLC, but even still it's a risky choice for them, especially when creating a character for fighting game DLC isn't as easy and cost effective as say new guns or something in another game.

I thought the Ryu hate was overblown, because of how nice his beam super is. Then I listened to the Shoryuken podcast.

"Ryu- by far- is the worst character in the CES Build."

Uhh...

SRK put out a video demonstrating how he can't even cancel his overhead into his wallbounce kick, launcher, or any of his supers anymore. They've stripped him of so many tools that he had in TvC for no discernible reason.

Boost demand for Evil Ryu DLC.

Wow, at Morrigan's "Dark Harmonizer" assist.
Tag in and she gives you half of a meter. Her plus Thor on a team= pure meter. Maybe Dante as a main, use Thor to kill off the red meter they have left from Dante's attacks (Thor destroys red meter health and should be great to end chains with), and use Dante to assist guard Thor during his "Vow" down down fierce meter build or use Morrigan to build meter for Dante with her "Dark Harmonizer."

I'm absolutely loving all the possibilities for meter manipulation in this game. Lots of work was obviously poured into all the ways characters could effect meter to help develop them for team usage.

How does Dante's health look? Is he made of Seth glass?

No that'd be Phoenix. She's a friggin paper doll. Her damage is mad, but I'm not certain if it'll be worth it considering all the heals I'd have to invest in over combos with her.

Nice, reason I ask is that he definitely is looking like a fun character to mess with tons of options. Might be worth it to run him as a main with meter building assist characters if he isn't killed in a single combo.

Everyone looks like they're dying so fast. Is it because Taskmaster does a lot of damage or is it just because they're showcasing the combos. ;o

You take damage pretty fast. For most, you eat two combos each ending with Hypers...one character's dead.

Replace all that "Thor" speak with "Felicia" and I'm right along with you! ^_^

While you bring up the idea of Thor destroying Red Health, that's another thing Lei-Lei was able to do in her DarkForce mode... her hits didn't give recoverable damage in that state, so using it would allow you to beat a character in a way they couldn't recover from at all. If they keep this feature in MvC3, doing unrepairable damage to assist and point characters could be a very big deal (especially for poor Phoenix!)

It's also because a lot of the character you see being beasted on are lower health. As they were mentioning on the WakeUpSRK podcast, the different in health between rushdown and tanks is feeling more and more pronounced.

Bit late to the party here, but does Taskmaster's in-game model look a bit bland to anyone besides me? I'd never heard of him until the reveal trailer (I don't read a lot of comics) but a quick Google search pulls up a lot more interesting looking interpretations of the character than what's seen here.

I'm also shocked at the amount of Darkstalker fans that are in these threads. I only know a few people in real life who have even heard of the game.

"Just"? All he needs is a fucking top hat/monocle combo and he's instantly the greatest character ever.
I knew there was a reason I held onto this image, wish I knew what it was from.

His more "bland" look is actually what I like about him. It's like he's an idiot guy who just grabbed a set of "Ooo, what looks EVIL?!?!" props from a store... crossed that with his unique ability, and became a villan. Which is pretty much exactly what he is!

Just as I always liked Deadpool because he feels like what would happen if you crossed Spiderman with "Bad-Ass weapon manual #47"... there's nothing really strikingly SPECIAL about his look either, just the fact he picked better colors!

I'm happy we got the reject goofy skeletor Taskmaster, rather than the high-tech one who looks like one of any random G.I. Joe Cobra Tech soldiers. The sword and shield, makes it twice as awesome.

I'm also shocked at the amount of Darkstalker fans that are in these threads. I only know a few people in real life who have even heard of the game.

Back in Highschool, I'd get all my friends to fight me on Darkstalkers after our exams were over... And the game was one of my faves when Wal-marts had arcade machines near their entrances. My favorite exchange with one of my friends, over it all, at the time:

Me: "Do you know what Darkstalkers is?"
Him: "no..."
Me (With pic of Morrigan): Do you know who THIS character is?
Him: "YES I DO!"

So even the light gamers I knew had to know the game! *cackle*

Lillith's "Gloomy Puppet Show" aka SHOWTIME, is so awesome! Remember spamming it on the Saturn Import back in the day...

I was just playing some Vampire Savior as I had never really played Hsein-ko before and wow, she's a really fun character and I can't wait to see how she is in MvC3.

EDIT: :0 @ art. Nice job to whoever did that. An American Marvel artist I presume? Why couldn't THAT be the cover?

Would you happen to have a link to a demonstration vid? I can only find combo vids when I search on youtube.

Wait what? Is this similar to Midnight Bliss?

(DOH, BEATEN! Oh well.)http://www.emugif.com/picture20101028/vsavj/index.htm

You can find the mini transformations for this under Lilith's section.

Basically, she trapped the opponent on a stage, and forced them into DDR with fighting game controls. Depending on how well you did on this quick mini-game, the opponent would take varying damage.

--------

And that is pretty awesome art up above. Well balanced, and a pretty unique rendering style applied to Ryu and Wolvie there. Easily the most solid looking American work we've seen promoting this game, I'd say.

Since we are not allowed to laugh anymore on GAF. I'd say "Cool".
