Alan Wake 2 can run on the Steam Deck

There were some mixed guesses before if this would be possible or not, some thought not because of the high PC requirements, but it did also run on Series S so I figured with very low settings it should be able to squeak by at maybe "almost 30fps" playable

Would you want to is another question and up to you, but it does run which is neat

The Deck refuses to die. Even in the face of the most demanding games

True. Had they optimized for Linux it would run even better. It's not the best way to play it, no, but I've definitely run games in worse ways as a child with no gaming money lol, "almost 30fps" is pretty ok if it was your main gaming machine or you just want to take it on the go.

I'd much rather use 4k/60 in-home streaming with Moonlight than play this on a Steam Deck 🤷‍♂️
And even then I guarantee you have better devices than the deck to stream it to, if you have any sort of tablet laying around you will get higher resolution and much better colors.

What's wrong with playing it handheld? I'm genuinely curious because there are a multitude of reasons why someone would want to play this game handheld.
Have you played this game?

Nothing wrong with playing it on a handheld but it's a very cinematic game and it's best played on a PC or console on a bigger screen at the least.

It technically has USB C out and you can play it on a bigger screen like the Switch, but I can see that at that point this is becoming a really weird way to run this game lol

My goodness that seems like a lot of steps to get the game going.
Steam Deck is amazing for Steam games but Epic games suck badly.
I bought Kingdom Hearts collection on Epic but had to literally pirate the game to run it on the Deck.
Soon after I gave up and just played the emulated version on RPCS3

If it looks rough on this it would look like N64 on that

Yeah, at times it is frustrating - The deck is such a great handheld (maybe my fav) with one of the worst screen's I've ever seen (maybe only beaten by the original monochrome gameboy), and the OLED Switch is such an outdated handheld, but with one of the best screens I've ever seen...

Just need a hybrid deck/switch handheld now. And I wouldn't give up Steam OS for Windows, nor does the Ally top the OLED Switch.

Yeah, it's really an impressive piece of tech for the price. I'd probably just wait for the games to hit Steam if I was using one. I'm console/desktop lazy I guess.
