Sega: Aliens vs. Predator not releasing in Germany

Sega has confirmed that it will not release Aliens vs. Predator in Germany. Following a report that suggested the publisher would avoid the German market altogether, we contacted Sega, which explained that the game wouldn't make it to retail in Germany "without significant cuts that would harm the gameplay experience." The publisher maintained that AvP was "developed to be consistent with the existing content in the Aliens and Predator universes," and added that the "gameplay and graphical and narrative style befit the mature themes" of the franchises.

AvP is expected to receive an "18 rating" (or the equivalent) in territories outside of Germany and an M rating in the US. When asked about the status of the title in Australia, Sega told us that there was no word yet from the region. It would certainly be interesting if the German market was ruled out due to the game's violence (and the threat of not receiving a rating by USK, the German ratings board), but Australia and its similarly stringent board prove more accepting of the content. We'll continue to follow up with the publisher.

what the fuck :(

it sucks. although importing games from europe isn't a problem anymore many people are still afraid of it or don't have the possiblities. such a treatment sucks. fuck my county.

the last time i bought a game in germany was like...2 years ago?lol

we all import from uk nowadays, its half the price (70€ in germany,35€ in uk for new games)

That was to be expected, no? Iirc the first one was put on the index and the second one was cut heavily.

that's why austria is the better germany
Work seems to be more laid back in general (at least that's my experience with Austrians I worked with) so that's definitely a plus in my book (being an employee and all). Ability to buy games at retail? Who still does that in the Euro zone? God save the GBP - we've almost reached parity :lol .

I don't think there's a German GAFer who actually buys his games in Germany left, is there?

lol for Blaburn not getting a free review copy this time. na na na na poo poo.

....nein!

actually Ja!

but be lucky that we are so kind. so you can order/buy your uncut DVDs and games in our beautiful empire of awesomeness.

btw: why did you buy the censored MW2 version(PS3 afair)?

On the plus side that implies that there´ll be lots and lots of nice, gory action in this game that I would´ve imported anyway :D

Would you mind sharing any shops that don't require a credit card?

Yeah, us Schluchtenscheisser really have the advatage over the Piefkes there :D
And yeah, UK imports ftw... because even in Austria, can can be forced into terrible German dubs >.<

Only bargain games and stuff which is not more expensive. I preordered NSMB on Amazon.de :)
But I think I'll buy it retail instead because I can get it on Tuesday if I'm lucky :)

If you do not check out retail, you miss some great offers. Bought 2 Animal Crossing with WiiSpeak for 30€ each few weeks ago for some female friends with a Wii :)
There are original RGB and Component cables at our local Media Markt for 10€ each as well.

If you are in Austria or Germany, why not apply for a prepaid Credit Card? You don't need any income for that and it's extremely versatile.
