Dude, I completely understand how they feel. You ever been to the GTAIV midnight releasees at Gamestops? How about the ones in shady areas? Mine almost didn't have a release, because of the area, but they did, and it was kind of scary. Myself and a few parents were like the only ones not smoking, cursing, and looking all-around shady. One dude even brought some non-friendly dogs... Luckily, my GS now is in a nice area, but if that other store proves fruitful, I won't need to do a Midnight release.

When I picked my Wii up on release, police escorted everyone to their car.

NPC collisions is still there.

Talking about walking into people.

GTA IV went too far in one direction. People just started getting limpy when you invaded their personal space. GTA V goes too far in the other, with people having an aura of protection. That said, in GTA V it looks like certain people will push you away from them if you get too close, rather than ragdoll against a wall until they die like in GTA IV, so that's good.

Just curious, anyone hear about mom and pop shops or any store really in the NYC area breaking street date yet? If so where at?

Somebody told me about one on 3529 Broadway New York, NY 10031 but they wont pick up the phone. I live in long island so i'm really trying to avoid the trip for nothing.

Please let me know if u go.

Already been discussed. Niko only gets reactions from NPC's if he runs into them. Which is what he does in that gif.

Not true at all, in GTA IV you can totally nudge NPCs while walking, make them stumble and lose their balance etc. Hell, if you walk into an NPC and push them up against a wall or other solid object for a few seconds, you can actually kill them.

Empty streets, no traffic :/

All three pre-orders canceled. ;_;

I knew I was going to buy the game eventually guaranteed, but I gotta admit that the hype hit me hard going through this thread watching all of the Vines, gifs and the huuuuuuuuge list of cars and vehicles for the game. It already went sky-high some days ago when it was proven that it really was bigger than GTA SA, IV and RDR combined, but today I feel like I need the game like yesterday.

Such a shame that the store I usually got my games early from closed down their walk-in store, but they still operate online - they're close friends of mine, so if I can't fight the hype, I might have to check them out for an early pickup.

The game looks so damn good in those gifs, proving that all of the trailers were from the console, including the draw distance.

This is how GTA4 got me, the live streams and gifs got me to go ahead and buy it day one. I was thinking that GTA4 would hold back and release the "full experience" xbox exclusive as pay dlc. I didn't want a unfinished experience GTA4, but things in the streams and gifs looked pretty interesting.

I'm still going to wait until at least 2 months to see if I should get it now or wait for ******* version. It looks good again so far, haven't seen random fun though, at least the cars aren't fighting matches from the looks of it. I can control cars in GTA4 but it isn't fun to drive around in them to me, and I'm a GT fan.

Smoking and cursing? Oh my stars!

Really? Wii launch was the nicest bunch of people I've ever met... until the SMash Bros launch...

When you are being chased by the Police, people tend not to go near you..

If I heard gunshots and saw a bunch of cop cars, I'd go the other way... This is not only common sense, but it has been featured in at least every 3d GTA to some extent.

I don't think so. Franklin already collided with the cop before the final blow as you can see from the blood mist spewing from his back.

You're right, it doesn't look like he's dead. But it's a different debate from walking into NPC's.

It looks like they do jumping the same way Max Payne 3 does diving. So it's a animation/euphoria mix. So you probably can't jump into a wall without going splat against it.

But it will know you've played it before release, as the achievements/logs will keep a note of that. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Doesn't matter. If you plug out an Xbox, the next time you boot it up, if it's unable to connect to the internet, the date will be 11/22/2005. Do you really think you'll get banned for having played GTA V before the release of GTA IV? :p

So, do we have impressions between PS3 and 360 versions? I have both and need to make a decision on which system to buy it for. Thanks.

I bet you can find sites besides Vine which will not take your videos down.

You are forgetting the convenience factor of shooting footage from your phone and uploading to the internet without hassle. I am not going to judge this guy's ability of uploading video. Take what you can get or wait till Tuesday.

The closest gamestop isn't in the best area. Lots of shootings really close to it fairly frequently.

Embargo is 10AM EST Monday.

"Let's make a deal: I'll run a review GTA V on @Kotaku at 10am ET on Monday & you'll read it. Or at least skim it. (I tend to write long) OK?"

I’m not sure if it’s because we are losing quality, but why are we getting choppiness? I’m seeing vertical lines constantly when it’s in motion.

I hope that’s just because we are losing quality from the source (and being posted here) and won’t happen when playing at home.

I’m not expecting 60fps, but I don’t want it to be chugging.

Now that we are on the topic of GS midnight releases, why is there always that one dude who has to drift in the parking lot? You aren't cool bro. I've been to quite a few midnight releases, and most of the crowd were just awkward kids who try too hard. I never felt like I would get robbed or anything. Never seen a fight either. Everyone is generally well behaved.
