All New Skyward Sword Info from GI + Nintendo

got mine too, but I think I must blackout on all this new details. I'm starting to spoil too much for myself at this point and I've already got enough info for the topic where it's starting to feel like I'm removing some of the fresh paint feeling I get from these anticipated titles, so I'm stepping back for a bit. Don't want to spoil anymore locations and whatnot.

lol'd at the Lizalfos' imitation

"GHRUGH GHRUGH GHRUGH"

GI is doing a good job on raising my interest. On what they speak, I want to experience how frightening white guardians are.

Kefka, how long did it take you to complete the silent realm (yes yes I'm extremely interested in the silent realm :P)

EDIT: wait are those mole characters IN the dungeon? Cause that's what I understood from your preview.

The ONM (Official Nintendo Magazine) will have the first review of Skyward Sword in their next issue, which goes on sale October 20th.

After reading this thread and the GI, I think I know enough about the game to get me to release without anymore spoilers. I really want this to be a new "fresh" enjoyable experience. Not "oh hai I member dis from video/mag xyz".

... I just hope I don't break when the review videos come out. *sigh* damn, I know it's going to happen. :(

I look forward to not watching the inevitable spoiler riddled GameTrailers review video.

If there's one review I'm not watching until I finish the game it's Gametrailer's.

Gears of War 3's reviews... Good God, the spoilers...

I normally don't care which score they get, I buy games based on my tastes and impressions, but yes, I do watch reviews and I got spoiled Gears of War 3 because of it. (In part, at least.)

I used to like them not so much for the critical analysis, but the explaining of the game and what to expect, along with some new footage spliced in. They're a good way to get hyped. Except for GameTrailers, who explain away the entire game and spoil half the surprises.

What's wrong with that?

If anything, videos are an excellent review format. For example, if a game has one or many technical flaws you can show the specifically in the video, with less room for misinterpretation.

That is impossible to do with a game like Zelda. I mean you'll be spoiled, but this is a 50 hour game we're talking about.

Besides a lot of their stuff is out of context anyways, if you don't think deeply about each shot you're unlikely to be spoiled much anyways.

They spoiled Tales of Vesperia's final boss.

Not kidding.

Yeah, but they spoil really stupid shit, like bosses. I'd rather not see various bosses, locations and items at all.

That would be Gamestop.

And to be honest, it would be hilarious if they would give 8.8 to Skyward Sword as well.

ONM will give it a 10/10 and spend half the review talking about how the very grace of Nintendo allowing us to have such a pure gaming experience is proof that they should be worshiped. The other half of the review will be spent instructing readers in the art of making Nintendo prayer temples, complete with recitement of the Nintendo fan oath.

That's ONM™.

Wait... People need instructions for that? I thought it was just instinct.

Well I wasn't talking about GT exclusively, but there's probably issues with spoilers, yeah. :P

Hey, I'm down with this!

ONM are absolute bollocks.

I still remember the issue when they gave Wario Land 3 a poor score, stating it was 'too hard'. Was the reviewer retarded?

Who was it that gave The Thousand Year Door a low score because it was kiddy?

Ironically, it was Game Informer (although I expect the magazine is quite different now than it was back then, in terms of staff and management).

The entire coverage of the Wii release was some of the most embarrassing "journalistic" material I've ever seen in my entire life. I mean wild inaccuracies, flowery language on par with people thinking the rapture has arrived, just bullshit statements altogether about endless things.

But the worst? When ONM came out, there was no less than like 5 months in a row where it explicitly promised something major and then the next issue there was usually nothing major at all, or their "major" exclusive was just revealed by every other gaming mag/website like 8 weeks prior to the magazine even coming out. One time they had a shadow teasing a certain major exclusive, which I forget but it turned out to be clearly the shadow of a Resident Evil character or something like that, but then ONM lied and said the 'exclusive' was supposed to be for Sonic: Secret Rings or some shit like that. Ridiculous magazine with no value.

At least with the Red Steel 2 unveiling they had bad luck. It was not their fault that it was cancelled just when they had their preview ready.

I remember them doing this, and repeating the same bullshit more than a few times throughout the Wii's life cycle, especially around E3. Lots of silhouetted teases and promises of big surprises, rarely if ever anything of actual substance.

Yeah, it's really bad. One can forgive the occasional mistake, but they just have no interest in being a magazine of worth.

Anyway, Skyward Sword will almost certainly be WORTH a 10/10, so at least their clock will strike right in the twice a day fashion ;)

So what to make of the ";//" bit after temple? Is this related to how sword-girl mentions upgrading in earlier footage? Are the dungeons digital or something? Or is this just an early typo? :p

Probably a glitch from the demo.

I haven't seen anything of this game since the last E3 where it debuted with that broken demo at the press conference and I just watched a few vids in the OP.

Not going to look at anything else because I love knowing next to nothing... but man, I'm getting excited.

There seems to be a lot of initial collectathoning sequences in Skyward Sword, in order to enter dungeons and do all manner of things. It'll probably be the central complaint of some of the Skyward Sword detractors, and honestly if it happens too often it'll be legitimate. Collecathoning isn't a fun feature, Nintendo and other developers who always do that!

But the game is so massive I doubt it'll really make a dent in how I feel about the game
