It can play the not optimum move because it thinks it's winning.

Is this fucking robot taunting us fleshbags?

Is this what humanity has fallen to?

AlphaGo: I'll give him some free stones but not enough to win the match, just so he doesn't look bad.

I'm clueless. I want to see what comes of that sacrifice by the AI.

Damn it AlphaGo. I want you to utterly and completely destroy the fleshbag, taunting serves no purpose!

You know, I'm honestly surprised that Google doesn't have an employee on the stream full time... or atleast hovering right off stage so they can drag them up whenever Alphago starts getting taunty

Instead of running up the score, it is more concerned about patching the biggest structural holes it has.

Minimize the chance of it falling apart, rather than maximizing the margin of victory.

Sorry if this has been asked before but can anyone explain why the human player gets 60 seconds per move but the computer's time is counting down during its turn over the course of the entire game (I'm assuming since I just started watching)?

Human ran out of time so went into overtime. Computer still has some time left before overtime.

They both had the same time starting out. The human ran out of time first and thus only has 60 seconds per move.

He used up his allotted time. Computer still has some left.

His time ran out, he's in overtime. Black is still in regular time.

Game seems over, white still playing it out but no way he can come back imo

He's in overtime.

Each player gets 2 hours.

Once you hit 0, you enter byoyomi (overtime). Byoyomi for this match is set at 3 rounds of 60 seconds.

In other words, you have 60 seconds per move from then on out, but you can take longer than 60 seconds twice. 3 times, you lose the game on time.

i'm curious to see if the time limitations will start to impact AlphaGo's performance more than it impacts Sedol's.

That's what I'm nervous about. I have a feeling that its going to either needlessly limit its computation, or run it too long that it's meatbag won't be able place the stone in time
