Am I making a stupid trade here?

I've got a guy willing to trade his softmodded Xbox and like 7 games for my PSP with all accessories and 4 games.

I really want a modded Xbox so I can do all the media connect stuff. I have a ton of videos on my computer that I'd like to stream to my Xbox, and I'm interested in all the old emulation and stuff like that too.

On the flip side, I haven't played my PSP in a long ass time. I know my end of the trade is worth more than his, but I don't really care about that.

The only part that I feel stupid about is that I already have an Xbox. Would I be better off just buying a modchip? I keep trying to find this Xenium SP ICE, but it's sold out EVERYWHERE. What are some good alternatives?

I thought about trying to softmod my own Xbox, but I don't know where I can get a copy of the original Mechassault or Agent Under Fire anymore. All I ever see around now are greatest hits versions.

You're giving away a ton of money for an Xbox modded using a free, easy procedure my mom could do and games you could pirate anyway since the box is modded.

You shouldn't have had to make a thread to know this was stupid.

u could spend about $200 on a used xbox and supplies and softmod it yourself. i've never done it but ive read how to, and it seems really easy and it takes less than 15 minutes to do.

Can anybody help me with the softmod process then? I'll raid the local Blockbusters to try and find some old copies of a game, but I'm not sure what ones work. I've heard the following work for it:

Splinter Cell
Agent Under Fire
Mechassault

Are there any others?

Also, does my Xbox have to be a certain version for this to work? It's about three years old. Think it'll be ok?

If you know anyone with a modded Xbox, softmodding will be even easier and cheaper... You'll just need a memory card and one of those 3 games you mentioned.

You've probably made up your mind by now, but I would also vote against trading it in.

You might not have a bunch of game on the system that do it for you right now, but there are bound to be at least a couple new ones released this year which will make you want to kick yourself for trading it in.
And then you'll probably end up having to buy a new one anyway.

I know I used to always end up like that, but I've learned my lesson. ;)
