Am I the only one that prefers wired controllers?

Whereas wireless provides you the convenience of... what, move? I know it cuts down on clutter, but that's just like, opinion, dude.

I think wireless controllers are better. When talking about safety hazards. I think tripping over wires is more easily done than strangling yourself with a wire.

Yeah, probably.
I prefer not to be tethered to my console and it's nice not to have to deal with tangles and shit. Wireless for life.

I like having a wired controller around myself, but there is something magical about wireless.

That magical property is called sit wherever the fuck I want to sit.

I totally hate cable clutter

I don't want to offend anyone, but if you prefer wired controllers it would be factually correct to say that there is something wrong with you and it's affecting your ability to think.

See, if you had just put "networking" in the thread title instead of "controllers" and changed nothing else, a lot more people would agree with you. Wireless controllers > wired controllers.

Pretty much.

I hate the huge battery pack at the back of the wireless Xbox 360 controller. It gets in the way of my fingers, which I like to spread eagle across the back. So in that case, and only that case, I would agree with you.

I was like this at first, but when I discovered how much more freedom you have with wireless, I can't go back. I don't mind batteries at all. That was something I think Microsoft did right: use AA batteries instead of lithium ion batteries. All I have to do is pop out the old ones and put in new ones.

I'm sad that no one sees the beauty of a long gray coil looping back across the floor to the console, like an umbilical cord yet to be cut.
:lol

This is true.

At least you always know where the controller is. The one drawback I have with wireless is when I forget where I placed the controller. When it was wired, its not that hard to figure out where it disappeared. Plus, my controllers are black and my room isn't that bright, so it can be a fun little quest to find them.

you forgot your most easily defensible point: no batteries to charge/replace

I don't use batteries. I use a charge pack. In which the only major inconvenience arrives when I have to plug the wire into my controller and effectively have to suffer through the hindrance of ...... playing with a wired controller again.

How does that even work? I just tried doing that and my fingers were overlapping like I was trying to fold my hands neatly in my lap.

--can power on console like remote control

--the wireless signals are universal across products making accessories interchangeable

--does not force me to be 6 feet away from my large screen HDTV and allows me to keep my furniture spread out to accommodate the size of my living room

--pets and young humans can not chew through my wireless connection

--is better based on gremlin magic that makes it work

For my 360, one of my controllers is the wireless that came with the console, and it's essentially just a wired controller now because the plug-n-play wire is plugged in pretty constantly.

MS needs to release a 360 controller with a built in lithium-ion polymer battery. That could get rid of the hump.

There are some troubles with wireless controllers that make some people prefer wired ones
- no rechargeable batteries
- no easy way to charge the ones that have rechargeable batteries
- no rumble bullshit or removed features
- temporary disconnection
- short battery duration
- extra heat
- more expensive
- badly distributed weight

If all of these are not fixed I prefer wired controllers, but I think the XBOX 360 is close to perfection (although the wired one is much cheaper), I heard the DS3 fixed the SIXAXIS problems of connection and there are plenty of third party solutions tht fix the Wii one, so in this generation wireless is king.

I like the wireless part of wireless... but not having to deal with charging. I haven't had a huge problem with the PS3, but on the 360, the battery indicator is always wrong. I put it in fully charged, and it says 3/4 bars, and then in the last few minutes before the batteries are going to run out, it goes from 3 to 2 to 1. So often I find my controller just shutting off and me not being prepared for that...

Wireless controllers are the best thing that's happened in gaming but I do miss wired controllers. Not having to worry about batteries is really nice.

BUT IF THE BATTERY DIES I HAVE TO THROW THE CONTROLLER IN THE GARBAGE. WHAT THE HELL SONY

I moved the consoles away from my desk recently and today was presented with the need of charging my wireless DS3 with a cable plugged in.
The sense of being free from the console was killed. I don't want to feel trapped to the console by the controller wire. I felt less comfortable just by the fact that I couldn't sit however I wanted because of the nasty wireÂ…

Yes, you are alone
and mad

Man... The only problem I have with wireless controllers is that I always forget to charge the controller. Always.

I like to use wired controllers only if I don't have rechargeable batteries nearby, or (if they're usb) if I need an alternate controller scheme for pc games.

If they all came with the rechargeable batter packs and the cable for it, I'd be pretty happy.

The only bad thing about wireless controllers is the battery. It's annoying having to plug in my DualShock 3 whenever it's running low on battery and I'm in the middle of an online game.

I am sticking with a wired keyboard and mouse.

Charging and battery usage are annoyances with the consoles. On the other hand I find myself sitting further away from the TV each generation and cable length would have to be much longer now.

One of the reasons I don't play my Wii is because I don't like using up my fucking batteries so no, your not alone. >:(

Gonna have to get me one of those rechargeable packs when SMG2 hits..

I take it you're not a dog owner.
If a dog is going to eat the wire it is going to eat the controller. If you take the effort to hide the wireless one you could do the same with the wired one.

I'm used to wireless controllers but it's true that they don't bring much for me.

Having to plug the fucking controller so it recharges IS more effort and annoyance than simply having a wired one for me.

.

No. I like them more, they're lighter and I'm always forgetting to charge batteries :p

Wireless is still cool though, I don't hate them or anything :lol
