Am I weird for not liking celery?

Every time I tell someone I hate celery, they look at me weird. Always telling me it tastes nothing. Well it does to me, and I hate it. Literally, I get gag reflexes every time I try to swallow a bite.

There's ways I can tolerate it, like in small pieces that I can smash with my tongue when it's in a soup, but if I have to bite into it or the piece is too big, I literally can't handle it.

The fact that my mom caught up on that and used it as a way to punish me as a kid by having me eat a foot of it didn't help.

EDIT: Damn it, wrong forum.

I absolutely despise celery. Dipped in copious amounts of <insert delicious thing here>, though, it becomes tolerable. But only because its vile taste is drowned out.

I mean like alone it does taste blend yeah, but it's also a ridiculously low amount of calories so it evens out. Dipped in hummus, or peanut butter or some other delicious substance it's pretty god tier though.

It has next to no taste in my mind, and it goes well with wings when you want something to dip in the sauce after the wings are gone.

Put some peanut butter on it, good stuff. I don't mind it myself, fairly flavorless alone but good to crunch on.

Celery is mean to be used as base for cooking stuff like soups, sauces, braised items, like a part of a mirepoix or the Cajun trinity.

There are some people who like it raw, but even then it's just a deilivery mechanism for peanut butter or blue cheese dressing.

You're not weird and you're not missing out much.

Celery certainly doesn't taste like nothing, but it's okay. I was never one to eat a stalk with cream cheese or peanut butter or anything like that, but in dishes cooked it's okay.

Oh, it has flavor all right. It tastes god awful. I avoid it at all costs unless it's heavily cooked in with a stir fry or something and most of the flavor bled out. It's absolutely disgusting tasting and I literally cannot stomach the foul taste.

Great in big chunks in soups, great in small pieces in salads, great when grilled, great with peanut butter or some other "stuffing" on top.

You're doing it wrong.

I don't hate it but it's just boring as hell. Needs to be dipped or covered in something that actually tastes like something. Basically it's a delivery system for something better.

Celery is kind of useless. I guess I like it when dipped with other things like peanut butter or hummus. But I try to avoid cooking with it.

Celery doesn't taste bad but I can't stand the amount of effort that goes into actually eating it. Like, you bite down and your teeth get caked in the stringy stuff. Then you have to pluck them out.

No to raisins. Celery is perfect with just peanut butter, thank you.

Celery is great for soups, for stir fry, and for fried-rice dishes. I tried it in a healthy green-inspired drink, however, and even that smallest inclusion of celery made the whole thing taste like it.

I am 50/50 on it. I don't like chewy celery, I like the crisp easy to eat celery. The thought of those immaleable strands of celery scraping the insides of my body and moving through my bowels is more unsettling than taco bell

Why would you grill celery? What purpose does it serve!?

Celery is the bullest of shits when it comes to vegetables and by far the most bland and unappealing and it's not even that great with peanut butter or ranch, i would rather have an apple with peanut butter or literally any other vegetable with ranch. I mean have you ever had cucumber with ranch? carrots with ranch? broccoli?

I hate celery so much i will spend the 10 minutes picking it out of soup if it's served with it because celery needs to go home and never show its ugly face again.
