this deal's from the BR Disc Association cause it applies to all BR players, it was done to counter HD-DVD's 5 free movie offer
 
PS3 is selling well around here, too. At least a lot better than they were before the price drop. I wouldn't say they're "flying off shelves," but I've seen the clerks at several stores like Best Buy have to restock the shelf several times since the price drop. It bodes well and if it weren't for a phenomenon like the Wii selling out consistently since launch, I'd call it normal for this time of year.
 
PlayStation is a huge name.... the games associated with the PS brand are huge.

It'll sell well under the right price conditions. I mean nearly 4 million for what was a $600 (I know... temporary drop) product is great. Considering that's like 65% of shipments.

Well most of the sites people are posting so far where the PS3 is the top seller, the Wii has almost continuously been sold out for months.

I mean if you look at Amazon for example, I can't imagine how excited some people might get if the PS3 suddenly was only available through resellers for $150 above the MSRP. And of course that's the case for the Wii, but people have kind of accepted that as "normal".

I care about Sales Age , and I do monitor Amazon.com to get a rough idea of the momentum of software titles, and for that its proven pretty useful...but judging hardware sales? Not so much. I agree PS3 obviously has gained some momentum from the price cut, but I question how big a bump it will be and definitely question using Amazon as an indicator.

And I can only speak for myself, but I'm satisfied with the selection of Wii games and honestly don't have enough time to play through the ones I have.

NPD and Media Create aren't perfect but they actually do make relevant indications. Citing Amazon sales is just fanboy drivel.

(Yes, I am sad enough to stick all three in my basket and put them up to 999.)

well, PS3 was 30th before price drop... Wii was 1st. PS3 wasnt 1st on Amazon since December.

I think thats pretty good trending there if we consider Wii selling 350k+ while PS3 was selling 80k.

There is no way in hell that PS3 will outsell Wii in July, or anytime soon, in the USA (difference is just huge) but denying the fact that PS3 demand is significantly up is just funny.

Not trying to fan any flames - just thinking this cause..... well, it's the reason I'm considering getting one. Wasn't planning on it - but now I'm wondering if I need to jump on it before it's gone.

You guys do realize if you read the page Amazon is clearly pacing their supply? They say when its gone today well release more tommorrow. So its a bit pointless to keep saying its sold out!. Cause in reality it isnt they are just releasing small batches every day.

I'm telling you, Nintendo really shouldn't even bother releasing any more games. It doesn't seem to matter at all. Ok, maybe drop Wii fit this fall, but save Mario and Metroid for when you really need it. Like, when you sell less than a metric ton per day.

What they are seeing right now is loads and loads of ads at every retailer on how PS3 is dropped by $100. That is what is selling PS3's right now.

there was a huge stack of PS3s at the local fry's here yesterdat... w/ 5 bluray and FREE remote too. guess it's not selling well here. surprised considering i live in the silicon valley.

D'oh! Just ordered one. Estimated ship date: July 19. So, I have 2 days to decide if my wife will kill me for ordering this and need to cancel.

Not bad, though - 499, no tax, free trial of Amazon prime gives me free 2 day shipping. So, truly a 499 system.

It doesn't seem to be in-stock anymore. It's saying they'll have more tomorrow. When you try to add a quantity > 1, it changes it to 1 in your shopping cart.

If I had a ton of spare time I'd probably be bored with it, but I can basically only play it on the weekends so I don't need that many games..
