Amazon no longer selling Versus XIII?

I really love this gif and want to know what happens next (if that scene is still part of the story):

im in love

Unless SE haven't learned for from their mistakes, they'd be better of not showing games that are still in the very early stages of development.

Luminous Engine is in production from a long time, I'm pretty sure they can show a CG trailer teasing a 2015 project right now. But they're idiots, so they'll give us an old game with shiny shaders all over it.

Toriyama, please save us all.

Why would they want to repeat the same mistake that they made in 2006?

I wouldn't say I'm excited more for XIV ARR but it's definitely up there on my excitement list, for sure.

I have to admit, despite not caring about XIV at all and feeling vindicated when it turned into a disaster, ARR does have my interest.

Why would they want to repeat the same mistake that they made in 2006?

Yes, I can't see them pulling this either unless the game has actually been in production for enough time that it wouldn't be too long away from release. If we do see an announcement besides Versus, I could see it being just being confirmation that production has begun on it.

Perfo I'm curious, I have no malice. What was your first Final Fantasy?

If they showed a new FF with a world map, chocobos, big towns, airships, and all that good shit old FFs had, but it was directed by Toryiama, hype-level would be 0.

Showing XVI would be horrid. It wouldn't be out for years, and graphically it'd look much better than XV, instantly date the next entry of the series, and piss people off with prolonged promises again.

They won't do it.

This.

Just accept that Versus is XV. Makes your life much easier. Of course XVI is in pre production at this point somewhere in SE which means Toriyama isn't directing because he's too busy with his Waifu.

Everything shakes out.

The long horrid shadow of the FNC looms over SE on into the next generation. How I long for them to move on.

Unless Versus being XV allows a large enough buffer zone for a Toriyama led XVI to come into fruition.

So that leaves FF Type-0. Any insiders know wether it's coming in US/EU?

Why must you hurt me with that question?

The only hope of this coming over to NA/EU lies in a HD Vita version I think and even if that was being made I don't know the chances of it coming over.

On a side note, are the Dissidia games recommended? I recently noticed them on the PSN store and was curious.

Doubt it. I think (hopefully) they will regulate Toriyama somewhere else either making his own IP or a demotion of some sort.

And if Versus is XV it won't be considered part of the FNC series of games. This will be them moving on. They promised 3-4 games in the FNC series of games and that has been fulfilled at this point.

Versus is so radically different from Type-0 and XIII that I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Sorry for hurting you brother (?), I just had to ask :(

Dissidia games are really good. They're their own games and not quite like other fighters which is a plus. There is a lot of fanservice and they're polished too. Get it if you like FF games. You can jump to the sequel straight away since it has most of the content from part one from what I heard (I played part 1 and that demo of part 2).

That would indeed be unfortunate.

Hiroyuki Ito is still at SE right? He should do the next mainline FF.

I don't think he's done a FF since XII, right? It's right time that he had another game I think.

:(

You know, I have been holding off on importing it. I just have this feeling that when I import it, a superior version is going to be announced on the vita or something.

I know the feeling, but I doubt I'll ever import it even if it doesn't come over since I'd be getting a PSP for only one game then which I find hard to justify personally.

That's because Type 0 is moribund. Nothing is happening with it besides being used to sell more merchandise. Such as play arts figures, manga, the recent campaign in that Legend World game, etc.

Most likely if abandoned like Before Crisis you will have to rely on a fan translation if one ever surfaces.

Yessir, and even that he picked up part way into development. FF6 and FF9, are generally considered among the best Final Fantasies. They should make XVI more traditional, put him at the helm, and make it as a 'return to Final Fantasy, from the director of Final Fantasy 6 and Final Fantasy 9'. It sells itself.

I meant moreso moving on in the sense that I would really like to see a new mainline FF that is neither MMO or part of the original FNC. It's representative of this failed and squandered generation. I want them to move on from everything laid out in this generation. Start the generation with some sort of fresh face, not one representative of over half a decade of broken promises.

And I see no indication of a Toriyama demotion. That sounds like wishful thinking to me.

EDIT: This is a big part in why I liked Agni's Philosophy from last year--I understand it really isn't a game at all, but it was the closest thing to a fresh start removed from FNC and FFXIV that the series has had in years.

SE needs to get Versus out so the series can move the fuck on from promises laid out seven goddamned years ago. The shadow of doubt will hang over them until we see that fresh new start.

Nah, it's good (Yes on brother :)). I almost wish I had never looked into it more out of curiosity and seen how it had turned out.

Thanks, I'd been mildly curious about them for a while but never had a PSP so I was glad to see they were playable for the Vita. I'm not normally into fighting games, but the differences from regular ones have my interest.

I still cannot get over the fact that we are getting FFXIII:LR while Type 0 is left to rot on the sidelines. :(

A low effort cash-in against a game for a dead system, it is hard to handle but it's obvious why it turned out that way.

Perhaps we can get a PS4/Vita remaster one day, but who knows?

Sony should moneyhat it. :P

I Slowly realized that I am feeling unhyped for the reveal, whatever it may be related to FF. I was hyped for vs XIII for a while but right now I asked myself and I don't think I really care about Noctis and his friends. GG square. This is coming up from someone who stayed up all nights fighting Weapons in FF7 and following strategy guide for 100% completion for FF8. At least the newer generation will carry on with the hype.

There has been literally no word on Type-0 in quite some time.

:(

Thanks for mentioning it, even the bad news.

I'm almost at the point where I would be content importing it even if an HD version gets announced. Maybe just for the fact to make comparisons with the improvements and play it in Japanese, that should give it its own feel. Though I'm too busy with other games currently, so there is no rush to get it any time soon. 2 PSPs are ready :D

That's sad, they could have done so much with Type-0. Didn't it perform decently in Japan? It sounds like they're disappointed with it.

As for Versus, I'm one of the people who got a PS3 for Versus and XIII. I'd be super pissed off if it's canned on the PS3 (which it likely is) but if they manage to make an amazing PS4 version, then I might just get a PS4 for it later down the line even though I was not planning on getting one and DON'T want one.

Sold around 800k as a premium title. In December 2012 it released a Ultimate Hits version for a cheaper price.

For a PSP game it did well. However it was only released in Japan.

I think if it delivers what it promises, you'll be hyped when the time comes.

I like FFX quite a lot, but it's been since IX (nearly thirteen years) that we had that kind of Final Fantasy, a grand and open world to explore. No one can be surprised of fan indifference when they consistently fail to give the audience what they want. Versus was promising to be that game. If it still is, if they show that it is, I think it'll tickle all the right hairs.

Selling nearly a million copies is amazing. I can only imagine it would do comparable numbers if they released a PSN/Vita verison for EU and NA

It's not that surprising honestly as the PSP was never really a big hit outside Japan to my knowledge and by the time it came out the system was already on its way out to make way for the Vita.

I'd hoped for a PSN version at least, but it's been so long now that seems unlikely.

Maybe if Vita sales pick up we could see an HD version.

So what are the odds of XV still featuring combat system akin to what was shown for Versus (which, I heard looks like KH battle system)?

Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiIx9VJWSl8&hd=1

I'd imagine it would be the same as what we were shown or perhaps improved given the development time. It's still being made by the KH team, isn't it?

Yeah, I've got enough of a backlog currently that adding an import probably wouldn't help things much.

Eh, I say it's good to have at least 10 games on a system that you are considering. Buying it for just one or two I never really got honestly as it just seemed like a potentially wasted investment. I'm fine with a PS4 version myself.
