Amazon UK messing up Zelda pre-orders

I never understood people who buy it elsewhere and then return the one they receive at a cheaper price back to the brick and mortar store.

You ordered online to save money and part of that is the chance that the item may not arrive on time.

Why should a store lose a sale because you can't be patient?

You don't just order online to save money. You order online because it often comes early, and it comes direct to your home.

Anyway, I'm now not heading out to bricks & mortar. Found my mum's got Prime at the mo so have ordered using Prime Now and will return the copy that comes on Monday through that.

Never had an issue so far with pre-orders on Amazon.

Got the console, joy-con straps and 2 Switch games all out for delivery.

Ordered it all at 7:05am on the morning it was announced.

The problems - with Amazon UK at least - do seem exclusive to the Wii U version, unless someone would like to correct me. I'm wondering just how limited a run the disc version is going to have, and if this is from where the problem is stemming.

Mmph.

As mentioned mine is coming from Amazon UK marked for delivery on Tuesday. (I am in continental Europe).

I walked down to my local Saturn at lunch just now and they had tons of Wii U copies of BotW (at least 60 copies).

I was super tempted to get one cause I really want to play this weekend but I held off and will wait for my Amazon copy to arrive. I am proud of myself :D

Usually they have been good for me too, this this is the first time I've had issues with them. Honestly I don't mind too much, I can wait.

Yep, my Wii U version got a last minute delay to the 7th.

I complained and got £5 promotional credit which has softened the blow a fair bit. I'll just play Horizon this weekend instead.

My plan is to buy it from Argos today and then take the Amazon copy back to Argos for a refund.
Good shout! Totally doing this for a friend and me, who both preordered it with the £10 off deal and were delayed to 6th/7th. Argos seem generous with their return policy, and hopefully I can get a month of free Prime or whatever out of the delay, too. ~turnin that negative into a positive on a friday~

edit: Got £5 promo code on Amazon, so all is looking good... well, aside from having to cycle through the rain to get to Argos

My Amazon delivery was "attempted" and failed.

I have a safe place set up and 4 neighbors around today and have never had a problem with a safe place delivery from Amazon before. I seriously doubt that the driver actually turned up. They are bound to have had a load of deliveries today and I am out in the middle of nowhere.

I called Amazon 10 minutes after I received the failed email and they have contacted logistics to attempt a re-delivery today. They also asked me to call today if I don't get it.

They already extended my Prime membership by a month for the inconvenience but I will try and squeeze something else out of them if they don't deliver today.

On the plus side, I have man flu so just want to go to bed when I get back from work anyway.

Seriously why don't you guys just go to the store and buy your games?

Why do you do this to yourselves every time?

Because prime and the monthly $5 gift card that I get allows me to pay $46.01 for new releases instead of a whopping $60+ on short single player games with no replay value

Yeah they pushed mine to the 8th too, luckily when I saw they weren't preparing to dispatch yesterday when my Switch was I ordered from Simplygames, it arrived this morning and I cancelled Amazon... Whew!

Mine was dispatched at 1.42am (!) and according to tracking it was delivered at 11.58 this morning.

Was really worried last night. I've never known such a late process.

Fuck Amazon, seriously.

Mine was moved to the 7th.

My plan is to buy it from Argos today and then take the Amazon copy back to Argos for a refund.

Aren't games excluded from the return policy, or is it ok if it's sealed?

Same here. Mine is moved to the 7th. Bit annoyed but I'm only getting it for the collection - got the Switch version to play.

Because by buying it at Game you pay an extra 50%

Amazon = £40
RRP = £60
Thing is the RRP for the Wii U version is actually £50. GAME are just shit and I wouldn't be surprised if their stores actually had a few unreserved switches in a forced Skylanders and terrible accessory bundles.

Argos have it for £48.99 plus you get a free set of Legend of Zelda artwork cards.

Mine dispatched last night so I won't get it until Monday.

I was looking forward to playing it this weekend since Amazon messed up my Horizon CE preorder. I asked to change the delivery address they couldn't do it and cancelled the order instead.

Instead of 2 games this weekend I got none.

I think I will badger Amazon into giving me credit for their mess up. I just got a sorry from them.

I sent them a complaint and got the delivery moved up from Tuesday to Monday and a £5 voucher..s'alright I suppose

ok lol I also got the notification now, however Amazon UK is offering me buying the digital code for the same price (39 GBP).

Does anyone know if I can use this download code on a GERMAN Wii U? Or is there like a region lock? :/

So now I've managed £15 of promotional credit out of them - £10 through a supervisor and £5 through this automated email that I presume has gone to everyone who was let down. My order still says expected Monday, but that email says they can't predict when it'll come.

Don't need a download code as I've now picked it up through a family member's Amazon Prime Now, but I hope my original £30 copy comes within the period that I can return it to Prime Now so I end up with it as a £30 copy including £15 promo credit rather than a £47.99 copy with £15 promotional credit!

Got the same email, so called their customer service to try and figure things out. Guy there was worryingly honest, says they don't know if they will get enough stock to meet demand any time soon, or even ever. That's why they are now pushing the download codes. Annoyed though, I used the discount code and some promo credit to effectively pay £5 for the game, none of which is applicable to the download code which they want £47 for.

Gonna try the online chat to see if they can sort something, the phone people are never any use.

Pretty clear that Nintendo is being tight with supply if Amazon and other retailers are struggling to fulfil preorders.

I'll give it a week and if it looks like Amazon are not going to come through with a retail copy I'll use the code to buy the download. But this has soured me on the game a bit it must be said.

Hope Nintendo get called out on it by the media. Clearly there are no supply issues on the Switch version, quelle surprise.

Why not order it from somewhere else?

Got an email earlier saying it will be delayed to 6th March, annoying but fair enough. However, now got an email saying they don't know when it will be despatched. This was ordered months ago (beginning of Jan) yet I see some people who ordered after me get theirs. Fucking Amazon and their shit service.

Sorry just needed to vent.

Mine arrived today. Hearing the bad luck some of you are having I feel incredibly lucky. Hope you all manage to get your copy (or another) as soon as possible. No one should be missing out on this experience.

A friend of mine had his wii u version pushed to the 10th and I know he preordered it the day it was available, amazon don't even care about the date you ordered it they just seem to randomly pick people to fuck over.

Had the download code offered at the same price, but how will that work with my promotional discount

Think I'm going to get the download code if I can then shop to copy can be sold. Ack.

Contacted support again, wasn't expecting much they just told me by the end of the day they would have a latest delivery date

Bit annoyed that 10 minutes after I was told I'd get it on Monday they send out an email saying they don't know when it's coming..what a joke

well at least I got the Incredibles on Blu ray with the £10 they gave me

Who in the UK does have stock?

I am going to try and get more than the paltry £5 offer, and I may take my order elsewhere if they are unable to get stock.

I put in a reservation at Argos for next Tuesday, if it's not dispatched by then I can cancel and go pick it up there

Maybe check if your local argos has it available and go on pick it up in person tomorrow? I am considering doing that.

Mine still says Monday, but really curious how this will effect the fact I got a Blu-ray with the BIGTHANKS offer if I never get it and they cancel it. Already bought a Switch and the game, but digital code would be useless to me as it would have made it a tenner more expensive than I was going to get it.

Heh, tried to order the digital code "for the same price as your original order" only to find it's £8 more expensive and they won't let me apply my Amazon credit. Seems fair.

Would never trust Amazon to deliver something on time. Not sure why some of you guys don't use the dedicated online video game e-tailers i.e. ShopTo, TGC, SimplyGames, etc.

I don't think they are exclusive to the Wii U version. My Switch version was meant to arrive today, but somehow ended up at the wrong carrier facility and has been sitting there since 13:26pm this afternoon. Needless to say, I don't have anything to play on my Switch this weekend because it seems like the game is sold out at most retailers. Will make some calls tomorrow morning.

How did they mess up this badly?

They've delivered EVERYTHING that I've pre-ordered in the past from them bang on time, including my actual Switch console today. I use places like ShopTo and TGC, but Amazon was the first place I was able to pre-order directly after the Switch event in January, so I stuck with them. Had no reason to believe they'd fuck up the Zelda orders.
