AMAZON US Switch up

Awesome - I feel way better now.

Thank you!

So I now have:

1 for BB shipping
1 for BB pick-up
1 for Walmart shipping
1 for Amazon shipping

Whichever one I get first (hopefully midnight release at BB), I'll keep and return the others.

Aside scalpers, this is why is hard to pre-order this thing. Just pre-order 1, ffs.

Dang I was gone for an hour and they listed Zelda Master edition on Best Buy and it's already sold out. They got the SE still in stock for anyone interested.

Damn my friend tried to preorder just now from like 4 different retailers and they're all sold out rn

Wanna hook him up with a link asap

He wants the gray one which has more stock as far as I can tell so it shouldn't be too hard as long as he's looking for it

it'll be interesting to see how many listings go up eventually. Not that many units could have really gone out by retailers today, it was up for 1-3 hours at most places so you can probably sorta guess in the range of 100-300k total units sold.

If ~2k units are on ebay right now thats already 2% sold online being scalped, I wonder how high that ratio will get to. For the NES classic it was kinda insane, I think something like 200k total units were sold over the holidays but I would regularly see 10k+ listings for it and 1k sold every day.

Its also interesting because Nintendo said they expect 2m units to be sold "at launch", or at least thats how much they aim to produce. I don't know what timeframe that is but that should mean a lot more switches available to sell, I think? There was definitely NOT 2m units sold via preorders today morning, a lot fewer just based on how long stuff stayed in stock.

2 million is worldwide through the end of March, although they may ship more potentially.

So I got a preorder in for the neon version of the console on Best Buy last night, but it was a while after orders opened so I'm a little concerned it's going to end up getting delayed or something, even though I supposedly should get it on release day. Also got an order for the black version on Amazon.

Should I feel secure in the Best Buy order (in terms of actually getting in on launch day like I'm supposedly going to), or would I be better off canceling and going with an Amazon order (a neon one if I can get it, or the black one I already have if not)?

I've never preordered anything from Best Buy before, so I have no idea ho reliable their shipping situation is for things like this.

The entire first page of my order history on Amazon is now filled with Switch game/accessory preorders lol. Just waiting on the Pro controller now. March is going to be a rough month for my wallet...

Just hold onto both for now as you won't be charged until shipping but you should be okay for Best Buy as long as it says available 3/3. It looks to me like every retailer knows the amount they are allotted just by how quick they sold out everywhere. The one thing I like about my Best Buy order is release date shipping is free while on Amazon its not unless you are a prime member.

Wait.

Was it really up for pre-order? Guess I missed it.

EDIT
Nevermind. I didn't click the link and thought you meant the console. Not just the extra joycon controllers.

If you didn't notice the price, this is just for a stand alone set of the neon Joy Con controllers. Still doesn't look like the Neon Console has gone up on Amazon. Not sure why the controllers would go up first, but apparently there are less total neon units going on sale, so who knows.

EDIT: Haha, missed your edit, I did the exact same thing initially.

I believe eBay policy states you can't sell preorders that ship more than 30 days after the sale listing ends... So all these Switch listings on ebay are technically violating eBay policy.

Have they ever enforced that? I would love to see them just flat out cap resale price to retail until some arbitrary time after launch.

I thought this was par for the course these days.

Will the Switch be compatible with the Wii U pro controller? That controller is great (also less expensive) and it would be a shame if it wasn't compatible.

I don't know. I never sold anything on eBay, just from what I heard/read about the policy. I guess they're not strict about it.

It's not. Nothing from previous consoles is compatible with Switch.

Nah you'd make at least $50 if you bought from Amazon (read: tax free) and have it shipped directly to the buyer. Still not worth the effort though IMO.

I think Amazon charges tax for most states.

Are we expecting more preorders to open up on Amazon? I only just got home from work and was too busy filming a video today to check in on stuff.

They still haven't sold the Neon console.

Unless Amazon doesn't plan on stocking it. They do have a page for it though.
