I'm a bit worried by how long these things have been available, but I'm hopeful that GameStop isn't gonna pull a GameStop and somehow screw up my pre-order. I even paid extra for shipping to supposedly get it on launch day.



I want the neon SKU, as well, but I figured that I'd want other Joy-Con colors, so I pre-ordered the neon Joy-Cons, anyway. Speaking of which, does anyone know what the difference between the different neon Joy-Con SKUs is on Amazon? The one that I pre-ordered shows retail packaging, and the item name clearly indicates that you're getting both colors.

It's now sold out, but there are two other listings for sets of Joy-Cons. There's only a single photo, but it's the same photo in both listings, showing both colors of Joy-Cons. The item name for each only indicates one color, though.

Also, has it been confirmed that each Joy-Con (whether sold by itself or as part of a set) will include a strap? The listing that I pre-ordered clearly shows the strap attachment, so I assume that it includes that, but the other listings don't show the strap attachment, making it less clear.

The separate JoyCons are available as follows:

-Grey pair
-Blue pair
-Red pair
-Red and Blue (red left, blue right)
-Grey left
-Grey right

I think they come with straps but I'm not sure.

I understand that they're sold separately, but I posted three listings with three different item names (all of which claim it's both the left and right Joy-Cons being included), but the item names for two of them only mention one color each. I guess I'm confused as to why there are three separate listings and whether the latter two are insinuating that you can have a matching left and right Joy-Con set that isn't gray.

That's what I was saying. Yes, those should be for matching sets of red and blue, and the pictures on Amazon just aren't reflecting that.

Also note that if you get the Neon system set, the Red/Blue JoyCon pack is the opposite colors and you'll basically end up with a set of red and a set of blue.

Oh, sorry. I misunderstood. Odd that the photos don't reflect that in the listings, in either case. Thanks for clarifying. I hadn't seen the matching blue pair and red pair before.
 
If I cancel my Switch Preorder will the website show it as available?

I'm about to cancel and if it works that way I'd like to help a GAF member.
 
Wait, the Neon hasn't even been up period? I simply thought I missed it. I have the standard one ordered but god every video I see of the Neon I'm swooning.

well, you can always get any GAF member that wants it to send you a gift card amount through email, and then you change the shipping address to theirs (works better if they live in the US). I've done that before for someone who wanted a copy of the Fire Emblem Fates SE.
 
In the process of waiting for the Neon to be listed on Amazon, I pretty much missed all the other retailer pre-orders. I think I'll just wait until after launch to get one because I really don't think these will be hard to find after the launch shipments.

At first I thought the Neon controllers looked hideous, but the more I see photos of them the more they're growing on me. There is something captivating about their color.

This is how I was about it at first too. My gf doesn't like the colors, but she's incredibly picky about things like that. I get that it could be seen as "jarring" in design, but at the same time, I dunno. It's kind of unique and I tend to associate Nintendo with color as their games are extremely colorful and vibrant, look at Splatoon or Mario Kart. And I think the Neon Joycons, aesthetically, sorta rhyme with games like that.
 
Is there any information about what Best Buy stores are doing a midnight for this? That may be my determining factor on which order to keep.
 
I'll just buy the Neon Joycons separately I just hope I don't get in the habit of buy colors as they come out because they look too nice to resist

Decided not to get it shipped to my apartment, getting it shipped to my house so if that happens I'd rather go through Amazon than Best Buy. Until then I'm holding onto my Best Buy preorder tho and just gonnna edit the shipping address.

I'm exactly in the same boat as you are. Grey is nice as it is uniform. But the Neon is really appealing.

The fact that the extra pair has flipped colors means I can have a set of blue and a set of red Joy cons. I need the Neon version.
 
So I've never preordered something online before. Does amazon usually get this stuff to you on the day of release or do you have to wait a few days?

I like both of the colors quite a bit, but it's the mismatch that gets me. maybe down the line when I want to spend another $80 on some joy cons, I would go with either the blue set or the red set.

I can see that. I'm just bad at deciding on colors but with this it's like here's TWO colors so I'm like okay I'll take it lol
 
Amazon was very late on my PS4 Pro delivery. They promised release date delivery and I preordered the moment they went up, however it ended up getting shipped via UPS Ground and took 4 days for delivery. Normally I have no issues with them though, so I guess it was just a one off.

Yeah. My store GS store got 2 Neon and 19 Grey. I wanted Neon and only missed because they opened a hour earlier than they said they would. :/

Also were their problems for anyone else preordering games at gamestop? For some reason their systems wouldn't allow game preorders so I'm still without BOTW. Got it preordered with release date shipping (no prime) on amazon just incase but I'd rather not wait until 8PM at night to play a game on it. (Or even later if it ships late like Pokemon did for some.)

I need to call and see if its fixed but I can't catch a ride for a couple days so I may aswell not bother. Atleast I have a system secured. I also have the grey on amazon so I guess I'll cancel it soon since I got it at GS afterwards.

Oh no. It is already difficult to get the grey one as it is. Probably why amazon still hasn't uploaded the Neon version yet for preorder.

Ended up picking the neon joy cons separately. Wish they would come with the grip. $80 for a remote stings. -_-
 
I don't mean to poop on anyone's parade, but something I noticed is the neon colors are switched for the set. So if you order grey, you will get opposite colors if you order neon joy-cons. The only way to get a set of red L/R and blue L/R as of now is neon console + neon joy-con set.

Yea, I have been kinda lurking threads most of the day and didn't see it mentioned, hence why i didn't really bother with a new thread or say "holy mario guys, secret discoveries!"

I have my neon preorder locked and I know people are excited for the neon via amazon, figured id mention that the joycon set is pallet swapped so you can have an all blue or all red set. My OCD is killing me knowing I can do that now.

I'm not getting one at launch, but I plan on getting the neon set when I do later in the year.

You can buy single color joycon sets.

Yea but they smartly reversed the colors for the neon joy set and neon console set. no need to buy 3 sets to do it. I was not aware they were doing all blue and red sets tho. Durp!

Still, why am I being so weird with colors? I just want a pro anyways. $110 for grip + cons is nuts, even if it cures my mismatch OCD.
