AMAZON US Switch up

i got in 2 switch orders at best buy on the same account, but i chose both store pickup for each at different stores (one gray at one store, one blue/red at another). One for me and one for a friend.

So far no cancel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's exciting to see the Switch stuff going up on Amazon.

I considered the charging grip for a hot second, but rethought it for now...I wonder when the Mario Kart joycon wheel will be available? My kid will love that.

Yeah, that's what I meant by network congestion. There might be none, but if there is it could range anywhere from slightly slower downloads to dropped connections or having to start your download over on DC (though that seems unlikely.) Who knows. With Wii U the day 1 patch seemed to be going out pretty slow for its size, but it went generally smooth.

1. Launch buyers, especially those picking up and midnight want to go home and play ASAP.

2. The system only has 32GB of storage and Zelda will probably eat half of the usable space.

Thus I wouldn't worry about the servers being overloaded day one as the vast, vast majority are going to buy Zelda and other launch titles physically. If there's an issue it would be Nintendo just not having the E-store servers ready to go, not them getting too much traffic.

Yeah I'm not too worried about it. If I can't play until the next day I will live. It's still worth it to have the game digitally.

Servers (and by extension Zelda downloaders) could be affected by a potential day 1 system update though.

I wouldn't let if affect my choice of physical vs digital though. A few hour wait won't kill anyone.

There is demand for this but it's mostly being inflated by the extremely limited number of pre orders Nintendo is allowing. I'd really like to compare some other stores numbers as we've had to actually cancel preorders while not even breaking 100 units. This is at one of the larger stores. We currently have 4 times the number of games preorders vs actual systems.

Does anyone know what store he was talking about and if he was talking about zelda or the switch?

No no, didn't you read? It's "insane" to buy digitally at launch!

The actual system and gamestop. Talking to someone about it now but I can't remember ever being so hamstrung with such a low initial shipment for a major console release.

This continues to be evidence to me that the Switch is slow to produce for whatever reason.

I work at Amazon and have been battling the temptation of making the Switch available long enough to pre-order it all day. It would literally be about 10 minutes, just in and out.

Keep an eye out in case my willpower doesn't hold and I decide to do something I shouldn't later today.

Please do it soon. Like next 45 minutes soon. Haha!

I'll give you my Amazon preorder if you give me a lifetime Prime membership. :)

Wait, what?

Our department controls item availability, meaning that it's theoretically possible to make it temporarily available for Pre-Order again even if all units are already allocated to people who ordered when it was officially up. If it works out, one could place an order today and Amazon will most likely accept it.

Best case scenario it all works out and me along with the lucky few who notice when it happens will be the proud owners of a shiny new Switch.

Worst case scenario, they find out that I did it somehow and Reggie comes to my house to beat my unemployed ass.

Really? uh huh...

What's the deal with the neon consoles then?

some you don't know if amazon has any stock left until launch, you just want to see the world burn. I like that

Is there a way you can tell us if the Switch Pro Controller is going up on Amazon at some point and if it'll release on launch? I've been looking like crazy and no retailer in the USA has it available to pre-order...

Seriously, get these instead. Their smartphone TGSP's are really great.

Hori regular screen protector is now up for $9.99.

Sorry this might be a dumb question and I've used screen protectors on devices before. Do screen protectors change what I see on the screen in any way? Color/saturation/angles/add bluriness/etc etc Aka, is what I see with a screen protector on the same as with one off?

I'm not even sure of buying a cheap screen protector and there's people buying a $20 one?

Unless you have kids, I don't see the point.

I've had a naked smartphone for 2 years and the screen only has micro/mini scratches that are invisible when the screen is on. My Switch will be on a pouch when on the go, so less chance of getting scratched.

You guys need to make new threads if they announce new preorders.

C'mon, guys. Y'all killing me.

By the time someone makes a new thread, they'll be gone lol

Yea I'm both pretty cheap and careful so I usually never buy stuff like that, but I have $10 Amazon credit left, so it's like... I might as well consider it at least. Because I will eventually get those tiny scratches, and they're admittedly annoying to see.

No, they're clear. The Hori is a thin piece of plastic, the Orzly is a thin piece of tempered glass. Tempered glass screen protectors (TGSP) are easier to apply, don't bubble, and look better. In my opinion, the decision is a no-brainer. And Orzly is a legit brand.
Do the tempered glass ones add much weight? What about air bubbles?
I've never bought one of those.

The added weight is so minimal as to be nothing. I hate to sound like a pitch man or whatever, but tempered glass is a huge improvement over plastic film. You won't go back after you make the...the Switch. *cringe*

Well it's not like my boss briefed us on the state of the Switch, but from what I understand the availability shitshow has all been on Nintendo's end; at least when it comes to the console.

Controllers I honestly have no idea, but one has to assume it's the same situation.

It's the same. You shouldn't notice any difference not unless the screen protector is sorry. I've never noticed any difference.

Hori screen protectors are top notch and installation is very easy. I think these may be zero air bubbles as well, so you on't have to worry about that.

Thanks. Yes I would hate having to put a plastic protector on my PSP/DS lol.

Anyone know if the official Nintendo case has a pouch or two to hold extra games like the PDP and Hori ones do?

Ah got it, makes sense. Thanks for the info!

By the time someone makes a new thread, they'll be gone lol

Well then maybe someone should just make a topic about screen protectors then. They have nothing to do with Switch preorders at Amazon, and the posts about them are really derailing the thread.

So if you're actually telling the truth then essentially you'd be opening up orders for an item that's already sold out, pushing the number of preorders above the number of available stock and screwing some of the people who secured a preorder out of their system (ie - cancelled orders.)

Not very cool.

I don't use screen protectors either, and I don't plan to for Switch. I think the bigger concern with carrying Switch around is making sure lint doesn't get into the vents.
