AMAZON US Switch up

Well then maybe someone should just make a topic about screen protectors then. They have nothing to do with Switch preorders at Amazon, and the posts about them are really derailing the thread.

I've always seen this thread more along the lines of a general discussion regarding Amazon's Nintendo Switch products and their availability. I don't see why people can't inform others of products newly added to Amazon concerning the Switch or talk about the items themselves.

If you're using this thread to get an immediate in-stock notice, there's better tools out there.

My thoughts exactly...

Thanks. Yes I would hate having to put a plastic protector on my PSP/DS lol.

Anyone know if the official Nintendo case has a pouch or two to hold extra games like the PDP and Hori ones do?

Damn, I'm glad you posted that. I've literally been waiting for it come open for preorder.

I'm not sure if it holds games not, but I wanted it anyways.

Not sure if it holds games, doesn't look like it.

I wonder why Amazon can't limit Switch sales to one per address to limit scalpers. Because people that actually want the system but can preorder are the ones getting screwed. How does Nintendo not realize they don't make money off of mark ups

So if you're actually telling the truth then essentially you'd be opening up orders for an item that's already sold out, pushing the number of preorders above the number of available stock and screwing some of the people who secured a preorder out of their system (ie - cancelled orders.)

Not very cool.

Not really. The very few new orders that would come in by me doing this would then enter a queue and wait until some people cancel their orders between now and March and then these orders would go on to take their place, instead of replacing the ones that are already there outright. In no scenario would the new orders take priority over the old ones since the system that manages orders takes that into account.

Worst thing that can happen is that Amazon catches on sometime close to release and decides to cancel or delay the most recent orders for the item; which would be the ones placed while I do my thing.

can't preorder a switch to save my life, I want dat NEON.. I actually just refreshed Target and saw the grey, but nah fuck that..

if the guy who works at amazon in this thread sees this: how many units have so far been allocated? an estimation is fine if you are unable to give clear numbers.

this whole thing is a shit show and I blame Reggie

Whenever I decide that the new Zelda looks good enough to probably lose my job over, so probably a couple of hours.

In all honesty, I will let you guys know if I do it so that we can all share the wealth
and in doing so you can help me cover my tracks in case it works
.

how many units has NOA allocated for Amazon so far? How many registered preorders are there? I want evidence that Reggie is doing this on purpose for artificial scarcity

Amazon has done exactly this.

nope I was the first one to post the option to select two different SKUs

the new link is a completely different product page

wasn't available yesterday

It was available since at least Monday (you can see from the reviews). Seems like a listing made by a third party.

Amazon has done exactly this.

isnt it 1 SKU per account?

Which makes more sense anyways I think. 1 per address could unintentionally screw over a decent amount of legit costumers.

Ya, it looks so nice compared to the third party ones. :)

Looks even better in these official shots. I guess I can just throw any extra game cards in there freely. :/ Or maybe someone will make a little plastic cart holder that I could throw in there.

Last time I checked was the day after the conference and I think the unfilled demand sat at around 48 000 and change so I assume that was the number of pre-orders at the time, but don't quote me on that since I'm actually quite shitty at my job.

Didn't Nintendo say that they were only going to ship 2 million units at launch? That seems a bit low, all things considered.

It really does look sleek. I've grown tired of physical media, and doubly-so for handhelds and portables in an age of smartphones with instantaneous app launches on the go. Will just get the biggest memory card I can find to jam it in the Switch and call it a day. I'm so over fumbling through a bunch of carts on trips.

they said they wanted to sell 2 million units by the end of march, not that they would necessarily be there at launch

speaking of which, what's the biggest, best SD card currently available and how much is it?

EDIT: I just realized we are literally 6 weeks away from launch. That is insane!

Servers (and by extension Zelda downloaders) could be affected by a potential day 1 system update though.

I wouldn't let if affect my choice of physical vs digital though. A few hour wait won't kill anyone.

True. But I don't recall the Wii U Day One patch causing issues and surely Nintendo's online infrastructure is improved now.

Also keeping in mind that it's rumored to be 2 million consoles at launch, but that's spread across the world so different time zones, some people picking up at midnight, some people at different store opening times in the morning, others waiting on shipments to be delivered at varying times of the day will spread out when people are hooking up and updating and downloading any digital games.

There's zero chance something like this isn't logged with respect to who initiated the action, and my good friends on Amazon's Android engineering team don't tell me kind things about Amazon's culture with respect to people who goof off/intentionally try to sabotage processes. Don't be dumb, dude.

Ugh, too expensive per GB. Switch storage options are going to drive me back to buying physical copies of games for the first time in years.

Im just curious if patches will be downloaded onto the game disks themselves or onto the onboard storage of the console. That will help me decide.

I asked that in another thread, and people better versed in such things said that while it's possible, the cost difference for RW cards is high enough that it almost certainly wouldn't be adopted by publishers.

I'm sorry for bumping this thread, but since you all are talking about Switch accessories, I have a question!

Power banks...you guys use any good ones? I've got my eyes on an Anker one that's like $40.

Tech guru Thraktor recommended waiting until after Switch's release to know for sure which power banks will work well with the Switch and which won't. Something about watts and voltages and stuff. The official AC adapter/charger for the Switch has a very high voltage rating that is uncommon, which might affect some power bank's ability to charge it properly.

That's a good point. Holding off then. Thank you!!

Oh, totally. I'm covered on that front since a friend of mine quit today and gave me his info so that I could do this on his behalf, but even then I'm not going for it until I'm certain there's no way this can come back to bite me in the ass.

Definitely! It reminds me of the Japanese Hori PS Vita hard pouch that I have. It pretty much looks like a longer version of that.

Neon looks so good. Please don't make me pay $80 extra for it.

Yeah, but even if you spend the extra $80, it's still not the same. You must have the beautiful Neon Switch console box to go with it, otherwise you're just being a poser.
