AMAZON US Switch up

A little bit of topic, I'm actually lazy to make a thread, but someone asked respawn about Titanfall on Switch and whoever the fuck answered said "fuck no" literally.

I'm having a great time with Titanfall on PS4, but now I'm glad it bombed hard and I got it on sale.

There has been 3 thread about this already, don't worry about it.

There has been a thread about that. And this is really not the thread to talk about stuff like this.

Having said that, if you are enjoying the title you shouldn't have ill wishes towards its developer.

Unrelated, but I ordered a Pro controller from Amazon Japan! $70.40 shipped to the US - will arrive March 6-7

I did as well. I said "why not" seeing as it was just a little more. Not getting a switch till summer but I have all the games and the pro controller preordered. Heheheehh.

They kept telling me that it's like a layaway. She wasn't very knowledgeable about me getting a guaranteed console, but did mention, there's a limit to pre orders, and once they hit it, they won't do it anymore.

I'm just thinking, maybe I go first thing March 3rd, just in case. Camp out before I go to work. I hope she loves it.

Yup, same. Except my sales associate also told me that she wasn't sure they would even have it on 3/3 (I doubt this is true).

Holy shit these gift card horror stories are stressing me out.

I'm US, so hopefully it's just a UK thing.

I used a $100 VISA giftcard to preorder. I plan on paying the remainder in amazon gift cards.

Yeah i wouldn't be latching on to that March 6-7 arrival date from the Japanese store. That's a generated ETA but I'm sure customs will make sure that doesn't happen.

Really? That's going to be convenient for getting JP region games later on.

Yeah, it's basically been my go to for all Japanese imports since they started the service. It was pretty limited at first, but it's since been very open to international shipments.

I was able to get a Nintendo 2DS from them and a family member got a New Nintendo 3DS, so it was very surprising to see the Nintendo Switch restricted.

Disappointing, but at least the accessory selection is way more varied on Amazon JP than the selection over here. I'm currently scoping it out to see if there's something better in the case/protection department than what RDS Industries and Hori offers over here.

All my orders have taken about two to four days to arrive after shipping out from Amazon Japan. They use DHL Express for international shipments.

For the US that is accurate with their global shipping. Airmail to US is always 2-3 days.

Do you live on the west coast? Because no chance that would happen for me.

Also no one should be worried about changing shipping methods on their US store orders. Nothing bad is going to happen lol. The only chance you will have of your order getting cancelled is if you switch payment methods to something that fails.

I was in a Walmart the other day but they couldn't answer the question about pre orders and day of release pickup. I was shocked when I saw a sign posted saying 10% down for a pre order as everything is seemingly sold out so I asked. I wonder if 24 hour Walmart are going to start selling them at midnight on the 3rd.

Saw some discussion about how adding gift cards to the Switch order might cause cancellation

I already applied a gift card to my order and I still have it, am I safe? Was gonna add more before launch but now I might hold off, lol

I preordered the Pro Controller on Amazon Japan. Ships to the US for $70 so I basically pay the same price without paying tax.

Same. Even if the yen to usd conversion rate changes in the yen's favor in the next few months you are still gonna pay $75 on this thing with tax in US so its unlikely to much of a difference between the two.

Just did the same. Payed with my credit card that doesn't charge foreign currency fees. And ended up paying a few dollars less than I would've if I bought it on Amazon.com and payed US sales tax.

Says it'll be delivered by March 6-7th. If I can get a release day pre-order on Amazon.com I'll cancel it.

But I remember the Wii U Pro controller being very hard to find here in the US for at least a few weeks after launch, even though you could readily find the console itself. Don't want to go through that if I don't have to.

yep, that's what I was thinking too.

Some of the leaked Hori accessories are on Amazon Japan. I embedded the links in the images below.

Hmm, so, going by Google translate, that USB<->Ethernet adapter is definitely USB 2.0, but, unlike the Wii/Wii U one it doesn't top out at 100Mbps and can actually get the full 480Mbps of the USB 2.0 spec. It's a really odd top speed for an Ethernet adapter, but I'll take what I can get.

I'll probably wait until I can confirm that a USB 3.0 adapter isn't an option before ordering one of those.

I would highly suggest checking your local WalMart if you are still in need, got mine two days ago with no issues(other than the cashier who seemed incapable of reading the instructions taped to the counter).

If Walmart is your last resort then go for it. But seeing how they treated the NES classic orders, where some people still haven't got some from November orders I would be wary. If another order opportunity comes along somewhere else I would probably go for that as well.

I've got a Walmart preorder with the same concern. Anyone with past Walmart preorder experience?

I pre-ordered my Wii U with Walmart and had no issues with them. As stated earlier it is considered a layaway and when it was released I payed the remaining amount and walked out with my Wii U.

I'm sorry that happened to you. This is actually a somewhat known issue with target when it comes to pre-orders. Their system is AWFUL. Basically what they do is this:

- You make the pre-order and they do an authorization charge (normal)
- Then they continue making authorization charges seemingly at random and constantly until the item actually ships (this is the not normal part and also a huge problem)

It's a huge problem because credit card companies will see these repeated authorizations as fishy sometimes and will decline the charge. If this happens ONCE, and it is very likely to happen since your credit card company is trying to prevent fraud, then Target will cancel your order without question.

It really really really sucks and is a super shitty system. Don't ever pre-order at Target unfortunately. :(

Thanks, man. Luckily I've waited until Amazon opened their pre-orders and got one.

Target should at least try to contact the customer before cancelling the order. Or maybe it would be better if them just charged the pre-order up front to avoid things like that. That's not ideal but at least you don't lose your item.
