AMAZON US Switch up

Have my Amazon preorder and will probably just stick with it.

That being said my brain keeps asking do you really need this thing at launch considering the only game you care about with an actual release date is Zelda and you own a Wii U?

I'm not really interested in paying for Kart again and I'm iffy how much I'd play arms. Spalt 2 is just "Summer" and Street Fighter is not dated yet.

Maybe if I knew if all my virtual console shit would transfer over, and what other indie titles will hit in March that might help.

Idk idk... Wife just says to keep it.

I'm in your position, except I don't even really care about Splatoon. Still keeping this pre-order though.

I'm having trouble convincing myself to keep it with the lackluster game line up right now.

I have it up for sale. If it sells before launch, great. If it doesn't sell I'll hang on to it just to play Zelda. Maybe sell after that.

I'm considering keeping my preorder even though I didn't play much of Splatoon or MK on the Wii U. I feel I'll put in a lot more hours into both games playing the Switch in portable mode.

Those two plus Mario and Zelda are looking like enough for me to keep my preorder with Amazon.

Where? Like Target? I have a friend who didn't preorder and now wants one.
Sorry super late reply but i called around last week to my local WalMart, BestBuy, and Fry's and they all had stock to preorder. I didn't even try Target at that point. One of my friends called the army base exchange and they had preorders as well lol.

Think of it this way:

By the time the Switch will become 'worth it' it will still be $300, so why not buy it now?

While that's a valid point, one counter point could be that someone has a limited amount of money now and they would like to buy other things, and buying a Switch now will prevent them from buying something else, which arguably has a higher priority and utility value.

So buy Switch now when it's "not worth it" and be unable to buy Item-X which you need more right now.

Or buy Item-X now and get its benefits, and later when the Switch "is worth it", you'll have money saved up for it by then.

That's my current situation.

Use a card for a retailer with a no interest offer and then make minimum payments on it until the promotional period is over. Then by the time it is worth it you will have it either paid off, or mostly paid off. It's like doing a payment plan except you actually get it before it's paid off.

Can't do this from where I live.

I'm not following this thread that much but regarding the use of gift cards to pay for your preoder on Amazon US, you can do it BUT you should have a CS representative to do it for you and your delivery date will not change.

I did it without CS rep and my date didn't change *shrug*

Even changed the shipping address too, and after that it forced me to re-input my credit card (even though the order was fully paid by gift card at this point), AND forced me to select a different shipping method/speed. Made all of these changes and my preorder wasn't affected.

I'm not recommending anyone else do this, cause I don't want them crying at me if something goes wrong, just sharing what happened with me.

For what it's worth I first redeemed the gift card to my account balance before applying it to the order, and I added the address to my address book before changing it on the order. Don't know if these steps make it safer or not.

Any word on availability after the release date? I kinda regret not ordering the Neon Switch instead. I would just grab the neon Joy-Cons, but they appear to be sold out as well.

Well, tbh the guy told me that if I did it the delivery date shouldn't change, but he urged me not to do it myself and contact CS to do it for me.

If the other product is outside the scope of entertainment as a whole then of course that comes first. You have to set your priorities straight, and as exciting as a launch may be, there are far more important things in life.

If the product which are describing is within the realm of entertainment, then the question of timed value is irrelevant IMO. Everything will either become more valuable as time goes on or the same value for a lesser price. Worst case scenario is the fact that the value remains the same for the same price. It's really down to what YOU want. You can let craziness in as well, the choice is ultimately for your satisfaction.

I suppose one way to solve this dilemma is to look at the whole announced switch line up and compare it to what the other product will offer in the same time span. Maybe that will clear up things for you.

If this product X you are describing is a PS4, ditch the switch and get that lol.

Everyone fawning for the Neon now after scoffing at it at first (myself included).

It's not an entertainment product, it's actually a health/life-style product, and I know it's far more important for me and will bring me far more satisfaction than any gaming device... but dat hype man :\

Anyway I don't have to make a decision for another month, many things can change until then :)

I order the Grey Switch and an extra set of neon joy-cons. Best of both worlds.

Nope, best choice is Neon console + Neon joy con set. That way you can have double red and double blue.

Although blue + Grey looks strangely appealing as well.

Dude, I can't let you go through with this without giving my opinion. The switch can wait, you shouldn't hesitate.

I'm just glad I have a preorder, I'll buy the neon joycon later :)

I thought so too at first, until someone pointed out that Red for Right and Blue for Left is the standard color code in other industries and what many people are used to, AND that's how the console looks in all the sexy photos I've seen of it... having the colors reversed will not feel right to me :/

Yeah, sorta wish I got the neon myself...ordered the grey on impluse cause gamestop had them is stock.

Worst cast I'll just order some joy cons in the future...you there there is going to be a wide range of colors they'll release.

Holy shit. I never realized the neon console and neon joy-cons reversed the colors until now. Mind blown.

I don't care much for neon red so I just picked up a neon blue Joy-Con set with the charge grip. I think the blue will look sharp on the go once in awhile instead of my Grey Switch.

I want them all. Grey, red, blue, and hopefully gold, silver, and gc purple. Someone help. :(

Has amazon said anything? It's crazy it hasn't gone up yet.

Thanks, don't know how I missed this. Odd how they're opposites, though. Now I need skins!

Saw earlier they had the listing with pre-order option, but it auto-removed the item from the cart because the listing showed shipping and in store unavailable. Thanks for posting, I was able to grab one.

.

For me double red and double blue isn't so attractive, because both are the same style, and I like blue more. So having all grey for an understated look and all blue was the best choice for me.

Ah yes, this is how it begins. Pretty soon you will look at your ordered joy cons with dissatisfaction knowing that you can't have the true Neon colors unless you get the Neon console. You'll shrug it off at first, thinking that its silly for such a simple color swap to disturb you so much. But pretty soon you will say "I might just switch the preorder when I get the chance" By that point you'll understand the difficulty of getting the Neon Switch and you will wait for amazon to open its preorders. But you will be paranoid that you might miss it when you learn that the Neon shipments are significantly fewer than the grey ones. By that point... You will be one of us.

I can't deny that Blue > Red. But i also think Red > Grey.

Lol, pull yourself together. Seriously though I will start being like you when they start having actual SNES and GCN configured Joy-Cons not just color schemes.

ONE OF US. ONE OF US. ONE OF US.

Idk idk... Wife just says to keep it.

Same boat as you, except Wife doesn't care either way.

You know what is awesome though? Nintendo has about 5 weeks to help solidify our choices.

Who the hell knows what info will come out in February, hopefully more stuff about VC and digital purchases etc from WiiU. And what ever other details emerge.

I have Zelda pre-ordered for WiiU, but could easily Switch it....

I am not entirely sold on the system and could easily wait for Mario. However, I (we since you are in the same boat) am under no pressure to cancel it now since Amazon doesn't charge till shipping.

Personally, I am waiting for more info from Nintendo, and I am thinking it may be better to put this money set aside to other stuff/hobbies. I gots enough games, and more good ones are coming on stuff I do own.

I'm pretty much sold on the Switch and it's lineup, though I see how my tastes may not align with what people usually get excited or justify a console for. I'm getting Zelda, Snipperclips, Puyo Puyo and MK (maybe Bomberman too) just within the first 2 months post launch :P

I'm with you all hoping there's some transfer deal for VC content though, that'd be super sweet.

I can't believe that I'm so excited for Snipperclips of all games. Zelda and Bomberman are also in the running to be day one purchases.

That's the only reason I am holding on to my Wii U and New 3DS XL. I need as many discounts as possible on all those Wii U/3DS VC games before I get rid of them.

I am not sure how transferring accounts from one to another will be, but once they have a Direct on how to link accounts between systems I will trade or sell those instantly and buy more games.

I'm so excited for the VC. I had an SNES and a N64 but had just a couple games for each one. There are so many Nintendo games that I can play.

So when's this going up? 1, 2, 3 am? :P

Nobody knows, we've been making bets on that every day for weeks now (and losing every time), but the first time the Switch went up on Amazon after the presentation it was 3 am. I think the Black Friday New 3DS also went up around that time too. So there does seem to be a pattern there. It might not even go up tonight at all anyway.

What did I miss? Why do people think something might be going up for sale tonight?
