I'm not going to say you should buy Nier, because I can't imagine it's a game for everyone. It's heavily flawed.

But I got it cheap and absolutely love it. If you're willing to take the chance, and willing to keep an open mind, you might really like it.

If you haven't gotten BbS for $20 by now, GET IT FFS!

Also, The World Ends with You at that price is a no brainer if you want an innovative and interesting RPG for the DS.

Lots of great games at crazy prices. Awesome.

I bought Nier for 8 bucks. Saving it for after my finals, but I've heard good things. And at that price I don't think I'd feel ripped off lol

Even though I already rented and beat it, I kind of want to snag Nier at that price. Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is a steal at $10.

I am debating wether to get Star Ocean: Last Hope for PS3, but don't think I would actually get around to playing it any time soon. And damn, I can't believe that is actually the only game on the list in the OP I don't own. I buy way too many RPGs.

It'll keep going lower... you should wait.

If you want an actual RPG this generation, I'd recommend this. I like this game though (I'm a big SO fan) despite the embarrassing cutscenes... But you can change 'em to the Japanese language leaving the English subs in tact.

The game has a good amount of side content and hunts but the trophies are hard to get.

As someone who never takes my PS3 online except to download games, demos, and patches is it worth playing Demon Souls, or will I be missing out on an essential aspect?

Also, can someone give me a quick breakdown of Ys compared to other types of action RPGs, and whether The Oath In Felghana is a good starting point?

I have qualms with calling Dissidia an RPG, but whatever, it's worth the money.

Too bad I already have anything that interests me from that list.

Ys Seven is different to the other Ys games (party system, no jumping, not to mention it's the longest Ys game ranging about 20~25 hours).

I'll heavily recommend Ys: The Oath in Felghana if you want a quick paced Action RPG (although short, ranging from 6~10 hours) with decent replay value. It's one of my favorite RPGs this year.

Not "Oh my God this is the worst game I've ever played" bad or anything. It's just once the charm wears off (it did for me somewhere around the third dungeon) there's not much left to do. Controls don't quite feel right and the difficulty swings between braindead easy and stupidly difficult thanks to the fact you only get item drops that you have absolutely no use for at the moment.

Bottom line: I bought it at $20 and felt I overpaid about $10.

Oath in Felghana is the best in the series. Very challenging, relies both on your ability to dodge as well as your stats. Has Zelda style equipment that is used to overcome certain types of puzzles.

Oath in Felghana is just plain amazing. GET IT.

If you love bad Zelda games then go for it.
That's not fair. 3D Dot Game Heroes is awesome at what it does, it really just depends on whether you can roll with a game that purposely embraces the weird and occasionally arbitrary design of the 8-bit era as a form of commentary. If you have no love for that era of gaming you'll have no love for this game.

Thanks for your thoughts. To clarify a few things: Is it basically an overworld with dungeons? Is progression based wholly on items, or is there leveling? Is anything randomly generated, or is each area hand crafted?

Thanks for the info and review. I will definitely be picking it up some time, as it does sound like a good game. But yeah, I think I should wait till it goes down in price as I really won't be playing it anytime soon.

Mmm, might hold off on that then. New one: Project Sylpheed for $2? :lol

Yes, I'm looking through all the 360 games that are dirt cheap, want to fight about it?

I wouldn't listen to that negative nancy. Bitching about Shatter in the other thread. smh.

It's a love letter to Zelda and Dragon Quest with references to Demon Souls. Good music, and overall fun. Main problem with the game is the performance. The block Physics is not optimized for shit, and frame drops will happen. O well, Demon's Souls has major performance issues, and that game is top tier.

Btw Oath is a solid game even though the bosses cheese the fuck outta you. I started with Oath, and it's a fine starting point.

I love the 8-bit era so...:\ And as feeling like the design is arbitrary I'll agree with that...It just didn't come across as intentional. It simply felt as they took all the elements that make up a Zelda game but never put any thought into how or why they work together.

You're right. I only purchase games I have every intention of hating.

This is a common theme with a lot of Zelda-likes.

Not that I am saying that is what happened with 3DDGH. I bought the game back in June but have never played it, so I can't say either way.

At that price, Resonance of Fate and FFXIII are must haves. I would pick up Star Ocean ,but it needs to be 20 or less. So I may check out Gamestop.

It felt very intentional to me. I don't know if you remember what it was like playing the original Zelda without a guide, but 3D Dot Game Heroes is no more arbitrary than that (I'd argue much less, actually). Imo you're not giving From Software enough credit. You may not like the weirdo design, but it's pretty clearly crafted the way it is for a reason.

Not bad prices, but not all very different from what they can normally be found for at Amazon... or at least as part of very frequent sales. I know recently when they had that Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off deal I saw some of these games at the same prices before discount.

Does seem to be a new low for Arc Rise Fantasia at least, for whatever that's worth. Before it only got down to around 27.

Never jumped on Demon's Soul before due to not being able to get free shipping on it. DS + FFX-2 = 26 = FREE SHIPPING

Unless there is a better filler :|
