r/amd is an embarassment filled with greenboi with AMD CPUs.

DLSS 1 is a failed project (true AI)
DLSS 2 is the best TAA derivative that we have seen at this point, but it's nowhere at levels it is hyped. It still exhibits full set of TAA weaknesses. It is also not compatible with VRS. Oh, and it only runs on GPUs of a single manufacturer. And it's available only in a handful in games.

Being dismissive towards traditional algorithmic approaches is not justified.
Try to solve ax^2 + bx + c = 0 using neural networks.

I've played through GoW twice, normal and GMGOW modes, killing all valkiryes and completing most of the petty crap too.
Game looked amazing. From light effects, to reflections.
And most of the time I was using axe, which has quite notable light effects to it and when charged, to the environment too.
That was on PS4, with its puny 7870 as GPU and on a 65" OLED screen, from about 2-3 meter distance.

Its not shilling I've seen the comparisons in the Medium. Unreal's TAA reconstruction doesn't come close as seen in the Medium. And I already posted you a quote before from Insomniac saying their solution isn't much different. They downplayed their solution but you will try to play it up like its something special.

Well, I bet lot of people are sitting sufficiently far back from their TV not to notice the difference between 1440p and 4K even.

This is correct which is why devs will often opt for checkerboard instead of native on Playstation. It's a better use of resources. It's the equivalent of having hardware DLSS. Why wouldn't they use it?

Because sometimes the third parties engine doesn't work particularly well with the hardware CBR. I have in mind The Avengers which work awfully on ps5.

Check out native vs DLSS in Control. Drop in framerate despite all those tensor cores taking up room on the chip.

DLSS quality 4k (internal resolution 1440p) - 105fps
1440p Native TAA - 130fps

Checkboard is harder to compare since it isnt available on PC. But considering the PS4 pro is a ridiculously weak AMD RX 470 running checkerboard 4K games, most likely its pretty damn efficient.

Well, the video I quoted specifies that Decima Engine appears to be software driven and not really reliant on PS4 hardware for their checkerboarding solution. I know the PS4 Pro does have specialist hardware but this comparison seems to suggest it's more of a software driven solution.

AMD is certainly taking its time to bring FidelityFX Super Resolution to the market. However, the little we know about the tech (that its cross-platform, likely shader-based, and will work on consoles) is nothing but good news for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S owners.
