Haven't seen last night's episode but I've caught up on all of the rest of the season so far. Unfortunately, my thoughts are just as unfavorable as they were for the first season. The writers continuously throw a bunch of hot topic issues together regardless whether they contribute to the main plot or not. The racial conflicts (the school breakfast, the Mexican/Black students at Marshall, the Lacroix - especially Regina King's character) have added nothing of substance to the central story. Even the whole class debate about privileged and underprivileged have been a distraction. Furthermore, they still haven't explained how Eric and Taylor hooked up in the first place. If Taylor is so unpopular and Eric so deep in the closet, how did Taylor even find out Eric is gay, let alone getting hold of his info to plan a meeting (not to mention how Taylor managed to convince Eric to do anything as public as his own team's party, which is ridiculous for someone so afraid of being found out).
Honestly, I have always thought American Crime was a reflection of the media, it's all about the sensationalism of these stories. Too much fluff and not enough actual substance, and I for one am not surprised it has terrible ratings.
