I was with the judges....and I myself was shocked. The opening was pitch perfect IMO and didn't stray too far from Mariah's rendition of it to where Shannon would suffer from being compared to the original. To quote Paula: "She made it her own"....well, the first half of it

The beginning part that she sang, remember, wasn't even sung by Mariah. And while the beginning wasn't awful; she just had no support and wasn't projecting her voice at all, it was awful once she hit the bridge and had to start belting.

Steven Tyler seems to be telling people they suck tonight. I think he's mad about the 60 Minutes interview. Lara Logan twisted Joe Perry's words and he said some egotistical stuff.

I think the performance was good for what it was, but not something I would buy.

I agree but I didn't think that that made it bad (in the opening). But this hurt her in the 2nd half, IMO.
