Sanjaya will rack up the money.
He gets the fact that being a top musician isn't about talent, but rather it's about peformance. Pro Tools will take care of any blemishes in his voice after all.

Lakisha-- She still sings very well but its clear she is not in the same level as Melinda
Chris Sligh-- HORRIBLE, he is in danger of being kicked off.
Gina-- One of her best, still middle of the pack though
Sanjaya-- WTF. This is beyond a joke anymore, he is worse than some of the early auditions. Everyone that votes for him is going to hell.
Haley-- Ok, but forgettable, also in trouble of leaving.
Phil-- He did great today, totally nailed the song. Very surprising
Melinda-- Can we end the show now and crown her, its not even close.
Blake-- Not the best song, but he still did alright.
Jordin-- I thought she did really bad tonight, I have no clue what the judges heard.

I dunno, the Sanjaya joke is old. It's like that guy at the party that says, "Did you hear what I said?" and repeats it after he says something mildly funny.
If it was actually a singing competition, Melinda would win hand's down. That said, I kinda want Snajaya to win just so I can watch Simon sort of vibrate in place and then explode. Also it'd be interesting to see if he sticks around if that were to occur.

It will never happen.
The producers will not allow it to happen. Too much money rides on this show for that kind of embarrassment to stain future seasons. Even if they allow the joke to move forward until the end (to keep a lot of you sick bastards tuning in twice a week
), there's no way, DialIdol results showing or not, that he will win in the finale.
Also, I'd be willing to bet there are far more people that watch this show seriously than people jokingly voting for Sanjaya (hence why he isn't ranked #1 on DialIdol).

I think just by the process of elimination, the pure numbers will force Sanjaya out at some point.
As it nears the end, most AI votes are well above the 30 million vote mark. There is no way this VFTW campaign can make a dent into those kinds of numbers. Unless this campaign could cross over into the mainstream, somehow.
But even to get Sanjaya into the top 5 would be pretty amazing and would be seen as a victory.

You'd almost think that Fox wants it to happen at this point. This years Idol is the absolute worst.. Everyone knows it. So, why not take the joke that is the current season and turn it into a Sanjaya circus? The ratings would be insane if it came down to him versus -- I don't know. Who can actually sing this season? Everyone would tune in for that train wreck.
