You know what I thought was cool, when all the idols from the previous seasons kinna handed the torch to the new idol...but where was fantasia?

Fantasia was performing in her broadway show The Color Purple, which had an 8PM curtain time. I suppose she could have taped something though.

or they could have just hired Chris Tucker and put him in a dress and nobody would have noticed.

Trouble in Paradise? Seems so!

While one contestant walked away the new winner of American Idol last night and the other went home the runner-up, the true loser this season may be the show itself.

25.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the American Idol performance show on Tuesday night.

That number may seem impressive but it's a HUGE drop from the same show last season - when 36.3 million viewers tuned in to the finale performance show.

Numbers for Wednesday night's show, when the winner was crowned, are expected to be significantly lower as well.

Some changes are gonna need to be made to spice up the show for next season!

Where did it all go wrong this year?

I always thought the ratings were actually increasing. Guess not.

What I'd like to see changed on Idol:

1. Spend more time on Hollywood week. This to me is one of the most interesting parts of the show, and I felt that it was really glossed over. I'd like to see it spread out over more episodes so that we're not left with people we've never seen perform once the 24 are chosen.

2. Less fluff. The Ford music videos are always terrible. Waste of time. Results shows should ALWAYS give the losing contestant their last opportunity on the stage.

3. Enough with the 6 guys, 6 girls. The final 12 should be the 12 best regardless of gender.

4. Bring back the wildcard round.

5. Bring back different "triumph" songs for each contestant -- and match the songs to the singers' styles. Yeah, "This Is My Now" was perfect for Jordin, but it was terrible for Blake. Give them a CHANCE to win with it, don't undermine them.

6. If you do something like Idol Gives Back again next year, don't change the rules midstream. Make Idol Gives Back a standalone show, not a results show. Or do it on performance night instead of results night.

7. Prep the live audience and tell them to STFU when the judges are talking. Simon shouldn't have to yell at them to do so.

That's about it.
