You guys don't like Adam? I think he's the best by miles. In fact I don't really give a shit about anyone else this season.

Please explain, this is really the first season, I have had a chance to watch, just happens my days off fall on when the show is on...

All of the winners from Ruben in S2 to David Cook last year (except Taylor in season 5, but that is another story) have been heavily featured prior to the finals and pretty much received crazy praise the whole time. Not to say all the winners couldn't sing, because they could.

Kelly came out of nowhere in season one. her initial audition wasn't even shown until far into the competition after she had made the finals.

similarly, Kris was basically nobody until the top 36, where most everyone was shocked he got through (faint praise from judges + almost no previous screen time usually means death) What kris did was so amazing because he did just okay, while kelly killed "respect"

I think the poster said it best, when they said adam should be on broadway, I just dont see him being commercial, dosent mean he cant sing.

The thing with Kris for me is that he's not memorable. Very consistent, but I'm never wow'ed by him (tonight would be the closest, however). With average vocals, you need to have more personality or a distinctive style like Jason or Brooke from last year - something he seems to be lacking.

Danny and Lil had the best auditions, so I've been rooting for them since the beginning. Lil hasn't been doing great since she sang Mary J Blige (which I thought she killed), and I'm starting to doubt whether or not she's as good as I thought she was. Danny, however, really brought it tonight. Not a perfect vocal, but tons of emotion.

I'm on the fence with Adam - I thought he was brilliant last week, but this week he went a bit overboard. I don't see him succeeding on radio...

Anoop comes off as a poser...not as good as he thinks he is.

Megan's extremely attractive, so I may be a bit biased..but I hope she stays longer. Seems she just needs to figure out the style that suits her (because she's obviously not very versatile), but if it happens she could do well I think.

Allison's my favorite overall. The most consistent of all the contestants, and her performance last week was the best of the season IMO.

Adam was the best musician on that stage tonight. Creative, intuitive, good intonation, and he made even his crazy triangular-knee moves look artistic. Everyone else is just pretending.

Pfft broadway actors are medicore singers, Adam smokes everyone else in this competition.

Allison's vocal cords are completely trashed. She is 16, yet sounds like a 70 year-old chain smoker. She may have a good natural talent, but she is far removed from being the best vocalist this season.

She is going end up with vocal nodules in the next year, mark my words. Just painful to listen to.

Yeah, young belty girls usually end up wrecking their voice the fuck up.

Thank you. Sad but true. She has great potential, but she needs to take a year off and get some serious training.

Actually funny you should mention that - I agree that at this rate, her voice isn't gonna last. It's a shame, because she really does do great things with it in its current state.

This was my first time seeing Lil sing, and she was just awful. It hurt to listen to.

Adam and Danny seem like the clear favorites to me, at this point. Allison is good, too. Kris is good, but as others have said, not memorable.

I'm with Jett. Adam seems like he is on a whole different level. He looks like he has been performing his entire life, he hits such a range of notes that no one can match, and he changes stuff up and makes it interesting. I have been a big Danny fan the whole way through but right now the most talented guy on the show is Adam.

Tonight Kris, great job. Scott surprised me, first performance of his I have liked since the top 12

Exactly, without hardcore training, their shit gets fucked up big time. Saw it a lot back in the day doing theater.

Some good singers this year (allison, kris, matt) who would have a chance in other seasons but Adam is just crushing it...basically in just a different league both vocally and as a showman. Basically a classically trained countertenor with a ridiculous range who "gets it"

People are way to clinging to Kara's early criticisms of being too 'broadway'. Thats just crazy talk at this point. Yes, he is lstill earning how to relate to a camera but he has come a long way since auditions/hollywood.

I was wondering where this critique was coming from. Just started really paying attention in the past two weeks and Broadway never once crossed my mind when listening to Adam.... What is she thinking? Maybe Rent, Tommy, or some other Pop-opera but definitely NOT your average music theater singer. Anoop is better suited for that nonsense, IMHO.

God, I love snarking about Idol. I feel like my life has purpose.

Adam is so far above everyone else, if he shat it would burn up on the atmosphere before it impacted the rest of the Top 9.

That said, Kris was awesome.

Anoop: Horrible song, boring performance. He should stick to ballads.
Megan: Terrible, again. She really, really needs to go.
Danny: Really good performance, and a great song choice.
Allison: Not as good as last week, but she's still one of my favorites. Boo to the judges for focusing on her outfit -- they're submarining her AGAIN.
Scott: His best performance so far. It'll keep him safe this week. He's still not good enough to be one of the top contenders, though.
Matt: Weak performance, bad song. He's in trouble. It was exactly the wrong thing to do.
Lil: Not very good. Pitchy, and she was shouting the song by the end.
Adam: He's the most talented singer this show has ever seen. There's never been another Idol contestant with anything like the vocal control he's got. This wasn't as good as last week, but it was still great.
Kris: Best performance of the night. I was speculating that he might be forgotten compared to Matt, but he's been killing it the last couple weeks.

So my bottom three would be Megan, Matt and Lil.

Off to DialIdol...

...and DialIdol currently has the bottom three as Anoop, Allison and Megan. The only ones considered safe are the top three, Danny, Kris and Adam, in that order.

The judges will exercise their save on Allison if she's voted off this week, but I'm pretty sure it'll be Megan.

What's with the Allison hate? Weird. Matt deserves it more IMO.

I think Anoop should of have done t-pain’s buy you a drink, Anoop would of have sounded better recording this song (caught up)on a studio, I felt like it was honestly the wrong song choice to sing live

Personally, heshould just stick to ballads from here on out, cause whenever he tries to follow the judges comments, he just ends up looking like a douche bag in front of America

Best tonight where Kris and Allison, Matt Giraud’s was pretty good too, one of those songs that would definitely be good hearing on the radio as a studio recorded song

I thought your synopsis last week was pretty much spot-on and I think this is a very good summary too.

I'm back and forth on Anoop. I liked him last week but this week that song was way out of his league. I've only been following for the last 4-5 weeks and I have no idea why the judges love Megan - I haven't liked her once and I don't really like her voice. I'd be happy to see her go.

I like Danny but, I'm starting to feel like it's all about song choice for him. He's got a great voice so if he chooses a good song, he does it really well, but I sort of feel like he's not being particularly creative. By the way, like I said, I've only been following 4-5 weeks and I had no idea Danny's wife had died. I like Allison too but thought this was a weak performance for her. And I do think her outfit was that bad - I'm actually glad the judges said something.

Scott's got a good voice and Just the Way You Are is a great song - I thought he did it well although I thought he yelled it a bit too much and that took away some from the melody. For me it was merely a good performance. Matt - I like him but not a good song choice at all. Lil - I agree with whoever said she has a great voice but she hasn't really differentiated herself from the big voice singers from previous seasons. By the way, she very carefully considered what song to sing, then went with Celene Dion??

Adam - he's got amazing range and great stage presence. I liked his performance last week and thought his Ring of Fire was awesome and super creative. But his was actually my least favorite performance of the night. He took this great funky song and rearranged it to the point where it was nearly unrecognizable. And he brought back the "squealing". Ugh. Not the worst performance per se, but my least favorite.

Kris - I liked the beginning a lot and was very impressed how smooth his voice sounded - it sounded effortless. Didn't like the rest as much but overall I thought it was good.

My take:

Kris made the biggest move up the rankings - he really was good last night

Megan..oh megan...I like her quirky voice a lot, but man o man is she dying up there

Scott - best performance he gave yet, but I still think overall he is a bottom tier singer in this group (tis a good group)

Danny - always good, great voice

Adam - dudes range is just crazy..I want to see him front a band one week and do some aerosmith...he should be a 'lead singer' and not a soloist, but he is top 3

Lil, kinda was way average tonight...like way average

Matt - needs to watch his performances on replay and figure out what he does best, cause he can be really good

Allison - I thought it was not good

Anoop...well, I almost forgot him, for good reason, he is running on fumes.

Unfortunately, Megan, my love, is going home (I think).

God, they're fucking casting Matt. How DARE you sing something that isn't piano-R&Bish!
He misses the point of what they are saying; they aren't trying to criticize him because they want to control him artistically, it's because he actually sucks trying to do Coldplay and doesn't have the skills to do it. It's the same thing they'd tell Lil Rounds if she tried to play Bon Jovi songs on "contestant's choice" week; nobody is gonna want to buy Matt Giraud's album of Coldplay clones just like no one would want to hear Rounds doing rock music.

As for "milking them" after the show is over, my thought is that it's really inconsequential. The show has nothing to do with albums. The purpose of the show is THE SHOW ITSELF.

We're talking about a show that doubles the ratings of a show like Lost, at probably 1/4 of the cost per episode (the talent makes almost nothing)...twice a week! They don't edit the show for "pimp spots." They put them in whatever order will make you watch until the end of the show.

If all they cared about was getting the "chosen" ones to win, they'd fix the show (which I don't think it is, since it would be found out by now).

Megan needs to go home and shouldn't have been brought back to begin with. Anyone not really liking this season compared to the last few seasons? by this time I had several favorites but this season it's just Adam,Danny,Kris and maybe Matt, and even then I still don't REALLY like anyone a whole lot.

Compared to last year I liked Michael Johns, Carly Smithson, Brooke White(yes I liked her:lol ) David Hernandez, Chikezie, and kinda liked Ramiele.

I don't think they"fix" the show either. If it were ever found out that they didn't count votes, the show would be over.

That said, you could not convince me they wanted Taylor to win season 5 unless you got the producers themselves to tell me.

yes, the primary goal of the show is the show itself (hence simon's "casting" comment on wildcard night). However, the show loses some of its appeal if they can't brag about the success of its winners (and Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson).

There are numerous examples of things occurring so that a desired outcome is achieved because, like I said, they need to be able to brag about the success of former contestants.

See, but that's to the point; letting the audience vote on it generally works itself out. They may not have "wanted" Taylor to win, but ultimately Taylor winning shows why winning is irrelevant; Daughtry wouldn't have sold more or less albums if he had won in my opinion.

I guess I'd have to answer no, because until you listed them, I had forgotten most of who was on last year. I think the last few years have all kind of blended together really.

Not sure if that was pre-recorded or not. In theory, Megan could sing that well.

honsnap, they're making groups.

Group 1:
Matt
Megan
Kris

Group 2:
Adam
Lil
Allison

Group 3
Anoop
Scott
Danny

I'm guessing group 1, although according to DI, 2 is most likely.

Wow. Harsh Simon. Megan was really cool about leaving. She probably saw it coming.

brunette Megan is so much more attractive.

I like the song "Poker Face" but I never want to see that shit again.

You are part of the problem.

Is that really the #1 song in America? What the fuck is wrong with kids today?

The most predictable elimination yet thanks to DialIdol. I wonder if the contestants look at it themselves, it seemed like Megan knew from the start she was gone.

Tonight was incredibly boring, they need to really speed up this bottom three crap.
