And here we witness the power of the judges manipulating voters.

Allison picks the perfect song for her voice and gives a great performance, and all the judges do is tear her down.

Gokey picks the worst possible song and it's a complete trainwreck, and the judges give him "an A+ for effort", lauding him for taking a risk.

And in the end, that's how America ended up voting.

It should have been Danny going home tonight.
 
Danny had one bad performance, one bad performance is no guarantee you're going home. It was rock week, we all know Gokey isn't a rocker. He's Michael McDonald incarnate bitches! Gokey will throw down next week and Kris will go home, finals is Gokey versus Adam.

I don't think Danny should be going home based on ONE performance to be entirely honest. Allison just hasn't been that well liked compared to other performers. She limped her way into the top 4. Next up is Kris, Danny vs. Adam for the final no doubt.

Personally, I don't care about anybody but Adam. :P Allison seems like a nice girl though.

Right on. Allison's gut-wrenching performance of "Cry Baby" knocked me dead. Tonight's farewell performance was even better--- this girl is a f'n pro. She's going way far.

Of the 3 male finalists, one of them doesn't belong. Take out any one and supplant Allison. Doesn't matter who, even Adam. I have no idea why the judges have been all over Adam's hoo-haa since day one.

Danny has had one great performance in the finals. He has gotten a break from the judges constantly (not your best but, inspirational/A for effort/ you are a good singer anyway so it doesn't matter)

Kris and Allison largely got to where they are in spite of the judges, while danny and adam have in part, gotten to where they are because of the judges.

The thing is I actually can't really remember even one song done by Danny (besides Dream On). He is like human elevator music...rich voice that doesn't have much range and not all that much behind it in terms of style or personality.

Like I said earlier its like a string of pure mediocrity followed by a ghastly performance ending in a scream (no, unlike adam that was not a 'note') that sounded like we was having his balls slowly ripped away from his torso.

The problem is that I think that since auditions/hollywood the only time I enjoyed him at all were the last 30 seconds from last week. Kris and Allison have been less "steady" in their performances but their best has far surpassed danny's best. They have given performances that I remember and would listen to again. This is borne out in things like itunes download totals...nobody downloads Gokey.
 
I'm not an itunes guy, where do you people see these rankings, or do you see the actual number of total downloads?

Different strokes for different folks, I wasn't expecting anything brilliant from him during rock week but I did think he was better than Kris in the duet they did. He blew it big time with Dream on, but again he's not a rocker.

I'm not really seeing the correlation between ITunes downloads and who is still in the competition though. It's the votes that matter and not remakes of old songs that can be downloaded from ITunes. I do see the point in the things you bring up, and I won't defend his Dream on performance ever. The bottom line is it doesn't matter that much because unless a miracle takes place Adam has this thing in the bag.
 
Really, this is basically the Adam Show now and everyone else is tagging along for the ride. Sorry MIMIC!

Actually, it's been that way for a few weeks now.
 
Adam's going to destroy whomever he faces in the finals. It's better that it's Danny than Allison, because Allison is more likely to butcher the finale song.

The judges also told David Archuleta that he destroyed David Cook. People in general make up their own minds.

Saying that on the night of the finale is not going to change minds. By that time, fanbases are so set that singing doesn't matter, bar one of the finalists screwing up royally. Prior to that, they were singing Archuleta's praises week-to-week. contrast with Allison, where the judges found a way to criticize something about her other than her singing every week except for her worst performance (don't wanna miss a thing).


so yes, people make up their minds, but on the night of the finale, when usually the final 2 have been praised throughout the season, the judges comment carry less weight.

Gokey should have gone home after his performance. I was so ready for him to go home, he's just not interesting anymore.

All he does is talk in his gravely voice and make those fucking hip hop moves with hands whether he's singing jangle-pop or fucking showtunes. I hate his untalented ass so fucking much. At least Allison is like guaranteed a huge career after this. Danny Gokey's ride ends here whether he wins or loses.

I mean whatever, fine, sprsk, you might be right, maybe I'm no Paula Abdul ("I'm Only H-h-h-h-h-h-ere for the mu-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-sic *AUTOTUNE*) and I don't know the "musicality" of shit and Danny's not "the worst singer of all time", fine, but dude he is boring and talentless as fuck and I swear to god, dude, he needs to stop fucking doing that hand shit like he's Karaokeing fucking "Ain't Nothing But A G-Thang Baby". Just lifeless as hell. He's terrible.

He was the first one safe (although it was totally random). It was bananas. Clearly the least talented dudes have the largest Calling In Fanbase.
 
Doesn't make sense from ANY perspective. I don't see how the home voters could prefer Kris over the other 3. He's great but I personally thought he was a step below Matt.

And a final 3 with Allison, Danny and Adam is at least interesting in that there is a chance that Allison could actually beat Danny at least as far as performance. Now next weeks show is almost certainly not worth watching unless you just want to see the performances. Danny/Adam is basically locked and loaded.

i do really like kris but i think and allison and adam finale would have been pretty cool. so sad shes gone :(

Amen. Gokey is a one note song. He peaked in the first week and has shown zero improvement. So boring.

Well, as long as Adam is performing, you know that will be worth watching, and Danny's fun to watch if you have an Idiotic Hand Move Drinking Game like we do. You should try it. Every time Danny extends his free hand and then shifts it slightly up or slightly askew, take a drink. By the time Seacro introduces the Phone Number Montage, you will be Scha-litzed.

I dislike Danny's performances, but taking a range of subjective opinions from http://whatnottosing.com/, Danny is the worst of the top 4 (now 3). Adam, Kris, and Allison are ranked in the top 10 of finalists from all seasons. Last night, Danny arguably gave the worst performance of someone with a real chance to win.

I tried to give him a break for actions that came across as "douche-like", but he just won't let me.

So no, Danny is not the worst singer, but he's here in large part because of his back story, not because of his performances.

The weirdest part is that Kris and Allison, the two the judges would not give a break, have the most contemporary/top 40 voices while I don't know what kind of albums Danny and Adam would make.

I'm wondering if I should vote for kris next week to make the best out of a bad situation, or vote for danny and give them the "inspirational" winner they want.

yes, I am still bitter over Allison

I've yet to hear Allison butcher a song like Danny did to Dream On. And his duet song sucked too.
