America's Army 3 now available on Steam (free) (now playable)

Never got a verification email of the creation of my account BUT...When I try to login it doesn't work and when I try to create an account again it says my email address is already registered. Double U, Tee, Eff.

I guarantee you'll think twice before downloading this game.

Why should I care? Its not as if I could join the US army even if I wanted to being from the UK and all. As far as I'm concerned, the US taxpayer has paid for the development of a game I can enjoy for free. Sounds fine by me.

Maybe if this game had some AA I'd consider joining the army. ;)
Looks like it came from 2003 not 2009.

Its an UE3 game so try renaming the .exe to Bioshock.exe and setup a profile in your Nvidia control panel that forces AA in Bioshock. Its worked for other UE3 games in the past, if that doesn't work try it with UT3.exe as the substitute name

amazing.

Set the resolution to my monitors native and it gives me no signal and that the resolution is out of range. Anyway to fix this?

edit:
nm the age old UE trick of removing the settings ini so it rebuilds still works

Looks like the servers are going through all sorts of issues. Login issues, verification issues, and the training isn't registering right. Jesus...

Yea i finally decided to delete it and try to redownload only to give a steam is currently at load errors and cant Dl anything off steam.

No one joins the army because of a videogame. They join the army because they're broke, desperate, or deluded. If you're one of those people god bless you, but you didn't join because you're rank 40 on AA.

As far as recruitment tool, they can either spend 3 million dollars for a 30 second commercial slot during the SuperBowl, or they can spend 2.5 million on something people will play year round.

That said I played a bit last few days, doesn't feel as smooth as the original. Beta and all I know, but not as satisfying gameplay.

Being super janky for me. Finally got it all downloaded and I was having the same problems as the poster on the top of the page. So I figured I'd try to do offline basic training, no luck, froze twice after I clicked "enter training" or something like that.

I'll wait for a price drop.
lulz

Hopefully I can find some gaffers to play with.

i'm dling now 0% 80kbps!!

Plus i need some steam friends... some people who can gift games to me :D

(steam: Methane47)

The Authorization Servers are being slammed tonight with everyone completing the training and whatnot... don't be upset if your training doesn't get saved. :lol

Has anyone verified that there's no workaround for Punkbuster (presumably not even XP or Vista compatibility mode works) for Windows 7 beta/RC? I'm tempted to try it anyway once the servers let me download.

I have no clue what the problem is. I go to offline mode, to basic training, hit start to begin and it just freezes up. Done this four or five times now.

Joining the military right after I download and play this. Seriously, I play games like counter-strike and AA, but whenever I get a paper cut or watch saving private ryan, I scream and panic like a little child (in my head these days, should have seen me when I was younger). No way this stuff is convincing me to go along with uncle sam, army strong, be all I can be, or an army of one.

Hooray. I was able to make an account. So I set that up and am out to start basic. Freezes up again. Something about this is very very wrong. Any clue how I could completely uninstall the game and start over again?

Working fine here steam version, I made an account and did the first obstacle course. Pretty nifty game cant wait to play some more. But first I need to play some grand slam tennis :)

The decryption process is finally working for me now... probably going to take 10 minutes at the rate it's going though.

This is why PC gaming is awesome :lol

Finally got to create an account, did the obstacle course and rifle training, passed both, and it didn't unlock the next phase of training...Jesus, game needs a massive patch quick.

Auth servers are getting hammered, it'll work once they straighten that end of it out. On the bright side though I'm quite good at the rifle range at this point, expert badge hooah!

Off to pen a letter to Valve expressing my concerns with them carrying this "game"......
I remember when Ubi was showing the AA xbox360 game off at PAX07, and me and Flynn De Marco had a very thought provoking conversation about the Army requiring attendees to sign up for more Army info via mail in order to get in the Hummer or play the game, can't remember which it was

I'm sorry to nag. But does anyone know what might me causing this problem. Any time I go to enter training or enter a server it just locks up and I have to back out to task manager and end it.

First the obstacle course wouldn't work...Got that working. Then the Rifle range wouldn't work...Got that working. Then the advanced weaponry wouldn't unlock...Got that to unlock, and I fail no matter what score I get:lol . Just going to check in tomorrow and hope all the kinks are straightened out. I loved AA2, so I'm really hoping AA3 can hook me again. Pipeline is an amazing map.

Yeah I did the advanced weapons one twice. First time I botched the grenades even though I nailed it in the beta (d'oh) and got like 95%, the second time I missed only two grenades for 97% overall and it said I failed EVERY station despite getting expert on the M320 and MG.

Seriously I am wondering the same thing. I HATE vista and didn't know this used that POS pb. Keep this updated incase some break through happens.

wtf I cant pass the first fitness test. my time is 1 min and 18 secs. What am I doing wrong? Does it not count if im playing offline?
Would be funny if ur keep failing the fitness test, your character model turns fat.

you guys are all rookies :lol
the auth server is down due to overload, so no training will get saved or uploaded to the server

Alright, I decided to join the Army. I don't know why...I just had the urge. On the bright side, when I'm back from my nine weeks of training the auth servers should be good and I'll be ready to play.

Servers are fucked, unplayable. Half the time I can't even login, and when it fails it doesn't time out, it just sits there forever and I have to close the game process. I was able to get into the first training level once, and when I completed it it sat there forever trying to update my profile.

gg

I cant even get my soldier created. Everytime i put a name in it just hangs at that screen, checking availability :lol

Tried to play before. The one time I actually got a map to load it froze seconds later and dumped me back to the menu.

Hideous looking, too. Can't seem to change the res no matter what I set it at, and it's got that vaseline-looking smear going on.

I know it's free, but fuck.

There was an America's Army 2????

It was on the Unreal 2.0 engine. And this is on the Unreal 3.0 engine. So it's not that they're sequels, just the version of the Unreal engine that they're on.
