List fails without BC.

I go there and like the place but even I have to agree with you there.

WTF? BC should definitely be on that list. :lol I suffered for four years at that goddamn school, and am foolishly beginning another year for a master's degree starting Tuesday. Fuck my life.

BC 4 lyfe yo

Jeez where did all of us come from all of a sudden?

Also, what masters program are you in SD-Ness? I'm now in my senior year at CSOM.

I think they are implying Texas is stupid.

Or maybe it's just a weird shoutout?

no. UT wouldn't be on the list if it weren't for McCombs school of business. if that school was the entire college at UT, UT would be #1 on the list.

Philosophy master's degree. Kind of the opposite of CSOM. :D Nonetheless, somewhat contradictorily I know, I'm applying to the JD/MBA program in the fall at BC since my girlfriend is staying in the Boston area, and I'm probably not getting into Harvard Law School. I've heard "better" things about BC's law school and graduate business school -- at least compared with its undergrad.

Overall, my complaint with BC is that I met very few genuine, honest, intelligent, fun people. I'm sure you can say that about a lot of colleges, but I felt something strange about the place. What about yourself?

I've heard great things regarding the law school. I know people don't think much of CSOM's MBA programs. I actually need to look further into CSOMs other masters offerings though considering my time is almost up.

I can definitely agree on a lack of genuineness and honesty among the students. Within CSOM at least, I always feel as if students have ulterior motives driving their actions. I've never been quite sure if thats specifically a CSOM thing or not. I do think I've encountered a number of intelligent students in my time here, but I've met just as many who simply did not know what they were talking about. I think that will be the case at every school though.

I do see BC having a bit of all the characteristics described within the article. Apparently, we line up with Duke very nicely. On a sidenote, my coworker (she and I were interns) was from Duke. Between the two of us, I would claim she was the douchier, FWIW.

I've never seen such a disease of people reason their life on the price of their tuition, hardly used (and vastly expensive) skis, climbing gear, and brand new audi S4 wagons.
Don't forget going to Pearl Street to watch the only black man in town preform magic tricks then watch people grab lattes and congratulate themselves on being oh so progressive.

Lattes you say? Where do they think they are? France?

Haha yeah, Pearl is the only place that I've found bums looking for a $20 min when asking for donations

Dont get me wrong, Boulder is a great college town, loads of bars and great food, close to the mountains and tons of sweet outdoors type stuff literally a few blocks from campus, but it has a premium, and sadly, 99% of the people who go there don't appreciate it at all, despite their parents checkbooks paying for it.

8. Rollins College

I don't go there but I live about 5 minutes away from it. Pretty cool place.

Three of my old roommates went there. #8 is underestimating it.

Yes, I don't go to BC, have never gone to BC, but knowing people who went there...

They deserve to be on this list, along with Rutgers - can't forget guido douchebags after all!

:lol Half of my high-school class went there.

Staying in the Residence Halls

A student must live in one of the University residence halls unless he is living with parents or other close relatives (approved by the Dean of Men’s or Dean of Women’s office), is 23 years old or older, is married and over the age of 20, or is a graduate student.

New students may request a particular roommate. Returning students may request for a friend to be on their hall or in their residence hall.

For the sake of accountability, students must “check out” when they leave the campus. Students gradually acquire more freedom in this area as they become upperclassmen.

Each night all students meet for prayer, either as a room or together with several other rooms.

Students are to be in their own rooms and quiet at 11 p.m. All lights are to be out by midnight.

Students are required to keep their rooms clean and neat. Rooms are inspected daily.
Facilities and furnishings:

Laundry facilities are provided.

All rooms are furnished with twin-sized beds, dressers, desks, closets, cupboards, sink, telephone, and blinds.

Local intranet and high-speed Internet access is available in each residence hall room.

An email account is provided for each student. Due to the flood of objectionable content coming through outside email services, students may use only this filtered campus email system.

All wireless Internet access that bypasses the BJU filters is prohibited. This includes accessing the Internet via cellular phone services (e.g., TMobile, Sprint, Verizon, etc.) and WiMax.

Residence hall students may not watch videos above a G rating when visiting homes in town and may not attend movie theaters.

All weapons brought to campus must be turned in for storage. Trigger locks are required for pistols.

What is this I don't even

I'm gonna go ahead and offend some people by suggesting your chances for being surrounded by douche bags is reliant as much upon your choice of major as it is your choice of school.

Or choice of social network. See Greek System.

Well, on the one hand my Unlce went to Duke and he's an undeniable douche.

On the other, my Aunt also went there and shes quite possibly the nicest person I know.

Not sure what to think here.

Michigan State is not on the list, but I expected as much. MSU is not a "douchy" university. I am delighted to see the inclusion of OSU and ND; I especially concur with the inclusion of OSU.

I don't think you guys truly understand what Duke is. You may think this is a joke, but Tucker Max is the best example of a typical male, Duke student.

The females are actually the most sane, grounded females on the planet. One of the most common attributes to female Duke students, are their non-Duke boyfriends.
But they all look worse than the cheerleaders, and that's saying a lot.

I dated my ex two years before she went there, and two years after. It changes people more than I care to describe with my "limited knowledge of the english language."

I think it all stems from the fact that the students all act like they're the shit; because, they are told that everyday. I wish I had kept some of the freshmen orientation material I read. I learned within the first two weeks to only wear Duke labeled clothing to avoid outright bullying after people start drinking.

They have their own private campus security (like most colleges) that is solely used for shuttling drunk people around the city. When an issue arises, Durham city police hand the students over to the university, who then does nothing but give them a ride home.

Part of the tuition goes to hiring bartenders to work the student events, who are required to scan Duke IDs and knowingly serve alcohol to underage students.

The basketball players are exactly the same way as they act on tv. I've seen a few ACC players on their respective campuses and I can say that humility is not Duke's forte.

So much of the above post is not true. It's not worth tackling all of it since most people already blindly hate Duke and wouldn't change their opinions no matter what they hear, but I'll take a stab at a few.

*Disclaimer* I'm a senior at Duke, and yes there are a lot of really, really douchey kids here. I agree with the list and also think it's hilarious.

If by "typical male, Duke student" you mean a typical guy in one of the top 3-4 frats then you're correct. That group represents maybe 10% (and that's pushing it) of the male student body. Just because that's the visible group in the "social scene" doesn't mean it represents an average male at Duke.

100% correct, fortunately on the former and unfortunately on the latter.

Durham police cites students all the time. If you're off campus, you deal with Durham PD. It's as simple as that. If you're on campus, you're pretty safe. Duke's alcohol policy is to not try to crack down and punish students for underage drinking that will go on anyway, which in the process would drive students to binge drink in private rather than in a public, controlled setting. Is that very different than the policies of other universities (serious question)?

The second part is completely false. Our Duke IDs have our ages stored within them, and often times we're asked for a real ID as well to verify that we're actually using our own student IDs and not someone else's. Also, bartenders are only hired for official university events (Homecoming, galas, etc). "Frat" parties are completley run by students and none of the tuition goes towards those.

I've probably said enough considering what the reaction to this is going to be no matter I say. Don't bother posting "haha fuck dook", I'm not going to bother responding.
