I don't think you understood what I meant.

I meant that you get a better feel for Drake's character from the incidental things he says while climbing or fighting etc that North just comes up with on the fly. He comes across more human in these bits.

If you judge him by what he says and does in cutscenes, the character makes little sense. His motivations aren't convincing.
Those incidental things are 99% scripted. I'm sure he does a little improv, but less than you're giving him credit for.

Uncharted is still in good hands, The Last if Us had good writing without Amy. I would like her to either work for Eidos, to make a Legacy of Kain reboot or work for Guerilla Games on their rumoured RPG IP.

Guerilla Games already have a talented writer for that one. John Gonzalez, creative director and lead writer of Fallout New Vegas.

Why do people care about Hennig so much?
It's not like Uncharted games did something special story wise, it was in line with what you could expect from a game's plot.
You certainly didn't play Uncharted for the story.

Eventhough I am a fan of Sony I really hope MS snatches her up and gives her a chance to work on an original project.
I would love to see MS start investing in their own studios instead of trying to money hat everything.
Better yet works in the multiplatform world and everyone wins.

Best of luck to her. I was hoping she would prove herself with UC4 after UC3 but I guess it was not to be.

Ken Levine thinks greatly of her..

It could have been worse. ND could have gone under so Amy could get her indie team.

I'd like to see her handle GoW4, leave Barlog purely to the game design.

Because she's the creative director behind the franchise.

Good luck to her. I loved the characters in uncharted but i never thought the writing was anything that amazing, i'm so curious about the direction the next one is going in.

I absolutely did. Best character, and dialogue design in the industry.

Hey man, she designed Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City.

That's a legacy title.

She would be wasted on God of War.

[edit] This might have been a joke post, thinking about it.
It's not a joke post, GoW1 was better written than any Uncharted, GoW2 stumbled on the writing side, despite being stronger in every other area, so I'm happy Barlog is back to direct it, but I think they'd benefit from a dedicated writer.

Guessing this won't really have any big effect on the gameplay and level design parts of the uncharted series, but mainly writing parts?

Is this confirmed? That Barlog is directing a new GoW?

Well just adding talent to a team doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to work out.

Forced out in this context might just mean that their visions weren't able to mesh (unheard of between creative successful people I know) and so the best solution was to part with her.

From my understanding ND has a well curated company culture, and I think it's not worth compromising that just to add a famous name to the company roster.

I have no response to this because I have no idea how someone could think it, sorry.

A lot of you get trapped by all the sex and gore and Kratos all one dimensional. Truth is that Kratos does fit right in with all the other Greek Mythological characters. His story is classic Greek tragedy and that's the genius of it all.

Is the story telling in God of War better than any Uncharted games? That is subjective, obviously. Although, I think the first game is one of best examples of effective use of flash backs in a game.

I did! Story is cool and I love Elena.
People care about Hennig, because she's awesome.

Nope! Just another hyperbole story and people overreacting with "bu.... bu.... SSM is now a God of War-only studio" nonsense.

Yeah the writing of the overall story in Uncharted is a bit iffy (and the games ressemble each other way to much ), but the dialogue is generally really good.

Anyway... people can come and go, but when someone in a position as her is "forced out" then you can bet your ass that some major shit has happened. Never a good thing when there are powergames going on in a studio. Oh well it seems we will know the truth soon enough.

I did, the characters and such are the entire point of the series to me.

They should have made a 3rd Naughty Dog team with her as the lead writer if they couldn't agree on something. The staff that have been let go from Santa Monica could have joined that team.

there isn't such a thing as an uncharted team or a last of us team at ND

Noooooooo! This is horrible news. Damn it.

Well, someone is going to scoop her up real quick, if she doesn't have something lined up already. This is a huge loss. God dammit.

Hennig leaving doesn't bother me much(i'm sad though), but if she was forced out of the studio due to internal politics as the story says, then it's quite worrisome.

Amy left (or was pushed out?) during development of the game? Reminds me of FFXII and it changing writers mid-way through development, and that story turned out to be a literal mess.

Looks like Uncharted 4 could have a worse story than U3.

They already have a team with the "GOW: Ascension" team.
And Barlog returned to set up his own team. This is all we know.
We know nothing at all and "likey" is nothing at the moment.
No, there isn't a 'GoW Ascension' team, two of the leads from Ascension left, the majority of the team transferred to Stig's IP, and Barlog started building a team to make a game that "will live up to the standards that I helped establish here at SMS" and "feels instantly familiar yet completely different; something that feels like home on an alien planet with a nitrogen atmosphere."

It's going to be God of War.

Why WOULDN'T you want to work in the games industry?!!

So what game got canned? I thought it was Stig's game but if not then I'm glad. And I was hoping Barlog would get to create a new IP, I guess him returning to GOW is for the best but only if he can make it the RE4 of the franchise.

It's a compliment, he's saying she's a huge shoe to fill.

It's a industry veteran showing respect for another industry veteran that held the same position for a long time. What's wrong with that?

I don't see it like that I see it that he just doesn't acknowledge that ND still has as big of a talant as Amy. Not surprised since that particular talent sorta put BI in its place in terms of story telling last year.
