And hope for SNES CD (CD-i, Zelda) on the Wiiii?

The only thing i'd like from that crappy CD-i era is that cancelled sequel to Super Mario World.
Forgot what was the name of it .

this one is the really terrible one. like i said before those other two aren't so bad despite the ridiculous cutscenes

These games will arrive on the Wii the same day that George Lucas announces that the Star Wars Holiday Special is coming to DVD.

Wait wasn't there like a Japan only satalite SNES remake of Zelda one and SNES Zelda: LTTP2? I want those.

... while there is a chance of such things happening, Nintendo has yet to say or do anything that would give us the idea that such was their plan. At the moment, this is just speculation... and, to be honest, quite unlikely.
I think I've got a semi-related question.

If you can download VC games to the SD card, then you can transfer them to a PC, so they'd probably be keyed to your specific console, and useless to anyone else, right? Well then, could you burn a pile of VC games to a DVD-R, drop the DVD-R in the Wii's drive, and play that way? That'd cut down on the need for SD cards or USB hard drives.

I know Nintendo hasn't said much of anything on the subject, but it's just an idea. And it might hint towards the likeyhood of Nintendo allowing original TGCD games to run from the system's drive.

Yeah. Nintendo rented out the St GIGA Japanese satellite system to broadcast data from 4pm to 7pm to SNES consoles equipped with a satellaview. Even though all downloads were free, Nintendo actually made money off of the whole venture, too, thanks to advertising revenues. :lol

lol Nintendo competing w/ Sega to have the most add-ons

Hmm... The Wii playing Turbo-CDs directly may seem likely considering the Action Replay for Cube is on a compact disc.

If Master Quest came out, then perhaps Nintendo will let Star Fox 2 out of the bag.

I have Starfox 2. Am I not supposed to have Starfox 2?

It is not a cartridge

I think that when Hudson announced that they were signing up with the Virtual Console, Famitsu said that you could also play PCE CD games (TurboDuo is the name of the all-in-one combined hardware). They didn't say what level of PCE CD games, there are a couple of different levels, and "CD" is the most basic one (Rondo of Blood for instance is Super CD), but when you're making an emulator it's not much harder to add the optional add-ons, and they were probably just saying "PCE CD" in a casual manner, not specifying the lack of add-ons.

They also didn't say how it'd play those PCE CD games, but there's a CD drive sitting right there on the front of the Wii, and I think they'd be stupid not to use it.
Nope, Hudson denotes "PC Engine CD-ROM" as covering the entire family of formats (CD-ROM², Super CD-ROM², Arcade CD-ROM²). Hudson's also confirmed the games will be downloadable via the Virtual Console.

seiken densetsu 3 was the only game officially planned and worked on for snes cd iirc. i'm sure there were a handful of others but this list is rather scarce ... DQVI would be believable, and i think sqaresoft were playing around with the idea of putting another FF on there
No, it was Seiken Densetsu 2. And it was never formally announced either, the only Nintendo Disc (ND) games that were publically announced were 7th Guest (Virgin) and Gldeen (Seta).

If Nintendo can revive dead projects through emulation (Ura Zelda for the 64DD being revived on the GameCube as Master Quest), and the Wii can play Sega/Turbo CD's natively (since they're just CD's, which the Wii can play, and Nintendo has hooked themselves up with official emulators), then what does this mean for the SNES CD?

Is there any potential in this, beyond the black-sheep Zelda titles?

And didn't Sony hook up with Nintendo/Phillips for a brief time before the end? Would that leave Nintendo with rights to the Original Play Station? They supposedly said it was impossible to combine the two technologies into one functional unit, but could we get two SNES CD units emulated into one Wii? Would that leave us able to play the Sony-SNES CD games like the full versions of Seiken Densetsu 3 and/or whichever one of those Romancing SaGa games?

Does Nintendo even care? I would imagine not, but... to think that they probably care more about the 32X... Of course there is a small amount of free money involved there. But still, something about "putting the Original PlayStation on the Wii" strikes me as hitting Sony's weak point.

*Traumatic picture*
I only forgive you for mentioning these hideous Zelda titles because your avatar is extremely cute.

But I don't think that Nintendo would do very risky stuff with the Virtual Console. For example, I don't think we'll ever see Goldeneye 007 ever and stuff. But still, your avatar...

Who made these abominations?!
I can't believe Nintendo ever let anyone release such ridiculously crappy stuff with their IP on them. They must have had really heavy pressure on them, either economical or contractual.

The cartoon is awesome, with super horny, mature talking Link, with whole plots based around Link macking on Zelda.

How dare you compare it to those CD-I abortions.
Actually that is awesome, and hilarious, in the good way.
It only captures a small part of the Zelda spirit, but it ads a lot of it's own good.
The animation, VA and music is actually quite good for a mid eighties TV cartoon series.
And again, the humor doesn't feel stale at all. You can really feel the people who made them had a lot of fun doing it.
