And in come the US KZ2 numbers....

Halo 3 is a juggernaut though.

Don't forget that the 360 has double the installbase of Sony in the US, and it has a lower price tag -- lower by $200 with their Arcade SKU!

Bad economy is a shit reason.

Halo 3 outselling KZ2 IS quite funny and tragic though.. :lol
But don't also forget that almost half the 360 install base already own Halo 3 so it doesn't really have that going for it in terms of an advantage for current sales figures.

Yup. But all that marketing wouldn't cause it to still sell to over 1/3 of new 360 owners every month, which is what it's been doing. Complete deja vu to the first Halo game, which did the same thing over the entire lifespan of that system. Borderline absurdity.

Wait what kind of numbers are you expecting out of Infamous especially in the US?

I'd be shocked if infamous does over 300k this month. It's hard for me to put money into a single player only game unless it's something like fallout which gives me at least 80 hours.

Both (evil and good) campaigns give 40+ hours of gameplay. Plus you got the side missions to complete as well.

In this thread: people use the term marketing and advertising interchangebly and it bugs the fuck out of me. Stop it, please, they're two totally different concepts, advertising is only one component part of your overall marketing.

The latest map pack trailer is much better than what they used as an ad:

This is free, right? I mean I don't see how this would interest potential customers of the game if it isn't. If that's Sony's approach, well, no wonder they're having trouble selling the game if its actual price is $80, not the advertised $60.

Splintering your online userbase into so many parts right after launch is such a terrible way to sell an online game. Valve have continuously delivered the most popular online shooters around, games that have communities that continue to thrive grow 5, or even 10 years after launch. The fact that all the content they develop for the game is free to all buyers has more than a little something to do with it, the fact that so few grasp this is simply staggering.

Short term money grabs are such a terrible short termist view.

Halo 3 still sells? Dayum

It was a decent game, but I had no idea people were still buying into the hype.
Well its still a better game than Killzone 2 so I guess thats why people are buying it?

The game looks good no doubt about it. But did it blow games like Uncharted, Gears 2 and RE5 out of the water? Not even close.

In many ways, yes, it did. Killzone 2 presents a whole host of graphical techniques that no other game has really delivered. It is really impressive. Problem is, a lot of those things seem subtle to the casual eye and won't be appreciated.

If some visual element is too subtle for the casual eye and won't be appreciated, how much does it really matter?

When making a product, why worry about things that are too subtle for the vast majority of your target consumers to appreciate? It's not bad per se, but it's a stupid way to spend limited time/money/resources.

Yes, those suckers continue to be fooled by a marketing campaign that stopped two years ago.

i'm pretty sure people picking up 360s now still remember halo from all of the shit that was going on with the sheer size of its marketing.

not to mention people buying a 360 are reccomnded halo and gears by people who work at the retailers....and people who go to buy PS3s are told it has no games and to buy a 360 and get said games:lol

And people trying to buy Wiis are told to buy hot dogs and weed because it has no game so it's slightly cheaper than hookers.

This whole "PS3 has no games" shit is really getting tired.

the fact that something so mindblowingly stupid as this community splintering bullshit still happens on any platform should blow my mind, but somehow, it doesn't even surprise me.

if you killzonians give a damn about your multiplayer community, you better hope it's free, or it'll be taking its first step in the grave.

Probably because Halo 3 was received by consumers as a generation defining title, a must have game while Killzone 2 on the other hand hasn't been.

Does this mean each campaign gives 40+ hours, or both campaigns combined?

Just curious... 40 hours is a huge amount of gaming in my situation.

It also had gamers locked into it's MP from Halo 2,and that's a massive factor when people are choosing which FPS game to buy.

Each campaign is between 14 and 25 hours according to the reviews.

i wonder what the replay value is on doing the game as a different path to the first time you ran through it. looked like fable 2 in that regard to me, that is to say there isnt much point in playing through it a 2nd time just to see the opposite path.

i guess ill find out soon enough, my copy just shipped from play asia, woot early ;)
