Come on, has Jake got any experience in action films? I mean, I loved the guy in Donnie Darko and some other stuff, but that's nothing like this.

Plus it's a movie based on a game, a game which I can't see making a great movie. It's unlikely to be great. It could be entertaining, in the same way RE was entertaining but it's not likely to be great.

However if the director and Jake totally pull it off and capture the feel of the game, I will bow down before them and possibly give Jake some brokeback action. I just don't have great faith's all.

Pirates of the Carribbean was a fucking Disneyland ride and they turned that into a fairly respectable action movie. You guys are thinking of this the wrong way, like they are trying to follow the video game to the letter. The video game is just the IP, the inspiration, the movie makers are very much going to be doing their own thing with it. Just like they did with Pirates. Its not going to be a level by level retelling of the videogame.

and WTF does having experience in action films have to do with anything? Like having a stunt double step in and jump off a boat is somehow out of an actor's range?

With a tan I'm sure he could pull it off. And he's a really good actor. I don't know what people are bitching about.

And holy hell he got fucking jacked.

Im less concerned with Gyllenhaal's casting and more concerned with Mike Newell helming. Outside of Donnie Brasco, Im not really a fan of his work.

No kidding. I think the picture looks great personally and I'm looking forward to the flick.

ya know what? disney may be the perfect studio to bring a video game to the film industry properly. they generally do a great job, so heres hoping this turns out good! not a fan of jj, but ive never thought hes done a bad job acting, so we'll see how he does.

This is like when Ledger was first announced as the Joker all over again.

:lol People will never learn

The big difference here is that The Joker turned out great not only because of Ledger, but also because of Nolan. Jake Gyllenhaal could be great, but do we even know if Mike Newell could direct a good adventure movie? Who knows if he can provide results. There is no real reason to be anything other than skeptical right now.

Well, let's be fair with this comparison.

TDK was the sequel to Batman Begins and directed by Christopher Nolan.

Prince of Persia is a movie based on a video game and directed by Mike Newell.

Is GG permabanned?
i hope not.
his last ban was cuz he went ape-shit on someone, not permaban worthy.
unless mods were considering it the last straw since he was banned like three times in less than two months

how are you guys making all these judgements based on that one terrible papparazi pic? Reminds me of when the first batman suit pics for Batman Begins leaked in broad daylight of some photo studio and everyone bitched. He doesn't look that much bigger there than he did in Jarhead, and he was hardly some "huge buff wrestler" in that movie.

He also did a damn good job in Jarhead. I don't understand the Jake hate. Have you people seen him act in actual, real films (Jarhead for one, Zodiac for another). He's a fine actor.

What worries me about this flick is the producer (Bruckheimer) and the director (Mike Newell). His only "big budget" film was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which is easily the WORST of the Potter flicks. Oh, and the involvement of tart du jour Gemma Arterton isn't a good sign either. She'll probably suck in Quantum of Solace but that's a James Bond flick so I expect the girl to be dumb.
