Slizz said:So I've had my Galaxy S: Captivate for 2 weeks now and I am liking it a whole lot. It's my first android phone and is actually the first phone I've had with any sort of internet access. I haven't had any issues yet like shutting on and off, and other hardware issues that have arose in this thread and others yet(crossing fingers).
The one thing that I am most annoyed about though is going from my cheap phone that has 3 days worth of non-stop use, is that I can't get a good charge pattern going for it. Battery usually lasts for a day to a day and a half, but I can't get it on a consistent charge pattern(charging takes forever). I've been trying for 2 weeks to get this shit on a pattern and it refuses lol.
DrFunk said:Hey,I've noticed the same thing about the Captivate too--it takes forever to charge. Meanwhile the Dell Streak charges in 20 min. Crazy

With Samsung phones you're not supposed to do that. Once its fully charged you're supposed to take it off the charger. Now it DOES takes forever to charge but not as long as I sleep. Once its fully charged it drains the battery while on the charger.Husker86 said:Charge overnight every night?
It's not my problem, is it? If they want me to buy this, they should give me a good performing browser.wind_steaker said:the scrolling didn't look the smoothest, but did you see how many damn animated adverts were on that page? maybe that was why.

I don't think I will ever understand this battery charging crap. Why can't the device tell when you've charged enough and just make it stop? It sounds pretty simple to me. It shouldn't be possible to overcharge.DrFunk said:I remember reading that Samsung uses a different kind of battery tech, LiPo, which states in the manual not to overcharge, because of rupture
still, not a big deal

Actually, a lot of chargers will still overcharge. I remember looking this up like 6 months ago, and they're still unnecessarily wasteful.Husker86 said:That's exactly what it does. Not sure why this is still feared so much.
Incorrect specs are incorrect, The Droid X does have 512 so I'm sure the Fascinate has 512 as well just like all the other Galaxy S phones, whenever there's a spec sheet there's always something incorrect on them from Verizon.hermit7 said:So the Fascinate is apparently going to release on September 9th. There were some strange specs, on the sheet that I was unsure of. The ram is listed as 336 mb.
Also the Droid X is listed as 256. I thought it had 512?

Hey -- what's this? Well, from the looks of it, it's a new, as-yet-unnamed HTC device. There is perilously little info available about the mystery mobile, but it appears to boast an 8 megapixel camera with a flash plus a front-facing camera, a 4.3-inch screen, a headphone jack and a kickstand. It also appears that it's going to boast HTC's own Sense UI. This falls in line with what we've heard about Verizon's Android-heavy fall launch this year, so we would not be surprised to see this device make an appearance. Furthermore, we could go out on a limb and guess that it's possible this is the Merge mentioned in that lineup, which supposedly boasts a 1GHz processor. That's all there is to the story right now but we're going to stay up late tonight to be on the lookout for further information on this one. One more photo below and hit up the source for the rest.
Could that be that be the desire hd ?DrFunk said:![]()

Sense UI is kinda bloated, to use the term loosely. Nowadays, stock Android is more streamlined, intuitive, and enjoyable to use than Sense. But I believe you can deacticate it on some devices? So as long as the user gets a choice, it's all good.Ephemeris said:The sexiest part of that phone is the "with HTC Sense" part.

60 Millions years later.... and you are just now finding out you can turn off Sense UI? :lolBattersea Power Station said:Sense UI is kinda bloated, to use the term loosely. One of us! One of us!Pctx said:Just wanted to say that after my Nexus One fiasco, I'm throwing my support back to Android as it just is a better OS than iOS (even a jailbroke one).
Having moved from Tmo to AT&T, coverage is a lot better and having a GSM phone is killer for all of the international travel I do so popping sims in and out is handy.
Looking forward to the Dual-Core phones coming out later this fall and anything on Gingerbread forthcoming and ditching my 3GS for something a bit more customizable.![]()

You can't turn it off on all HTC phones. I can't get rid of it on my Incredible unless I specifically load a ROM without it.Pctx said:60 Millions years later.... and you are just now finding out you can turn off Sense UI? :lol

That's what I figured too, but I brought home my nexus one charger, and the results are the same....unbelievably slow charging. I set it up at 7%, and two hours later (the phone not being used mind you) its at 79%. Inexcusable that a phone takes two hours of uninterrupted wall charging and is still more than 20% away from fully charging.Slizz said:I feel like its the baby ass charger.
Samsung ships 1 million Galaxy S smartphones in the U.S.
Newsbrief by Todd Haselton on Sunday August 29, 2010.
Today Samsung announced that it has shipped over one million of its Android powered Galaxy S smartphones in the United States. The Galaxy S has launched on AT&T as the Captivate, on T-Mobile USA as the Vibrant, and on Sprint as the Epic 4G. It is launching as the Fascinate on Verizon Wireless this fall. U.S. Cellular and Cellular South will also offer the Galaxy S.

Too bad the one I got my girlfriend is defective. Hopefully the manufacturer exchange is clean and easy.

How long did she have it? Should pretty much be over the counter no? Got mine on that deal from Best Buy. $99 on contract and because I was new to Bell a $75 gift card. A buddy at work got one too after he saw mine.. swayed him from the iPhone 4.
Kinitari said:It's been 18 days, past the '14' days return policy. I work at BB so I can probably pull a string or two, we don't even have it in stock right now. Seriously, it's selling out REALLY fast. They sent out a 'buzz' stating that we are not allowed to sell it (or the Desire) out of contract, that supply isn't meeting demand of contract purchases and those have priority.
My options are go to the bell store, or pull some strings at work, either or, we're covered so it's not a biggie, and her phone still 'works' until then, it's just acting a foo'.
Edit: In my house hold it's me, my girlfriend and my roommate with the phone, and I 'convinced' 2 people at work to buy, another to wait for the rogers offering, and a few of my friends are considering. All I had to do to convince them was let them play with it for a bit.
It's a LITTLE annoying though, the phone is getting hyped so hard at work, immediately people are pitting it against the iPhone 4, saying 'it's so much better, hands down, iphone killer" etc - makes me feel a bit uncomfortable because they always want my input ^^.
zoku88 said:If it's defective, shouldn't the 1 year warranty apply? At least in the US, I think all electronics come with at least 1 year warranty.
zedge said:Yea, I'm past my 14 days. My phone has the download mode disabled too I found out. I don't plan on rooting or anything so I am not too worried. There are a few people at my work waiting on the Rogers version too as they don't want to lose thier plans. Only thing they are disappointed in is the lack of a front facing cam on the Captivate.
Kinitari said:Yeah, it does - there's no problems really, I just need to go through the motions, if I am lucky I can avoid a lot of the hassle and just get a straight exchange at work.
They get LED flash though, fair trade.
zedge said:Really? I didn't see a flash on the captivate.
