Well my biggest complaint is mine doesn't fucking work any more... and I am finding more and more posts of peoples Galaxy S phones randomly bricking..

Awesome

*edit

Got the typical response from Best Buy who threw it in my face that I did not pay thier $9.95 per month replacement fee... was basically told to f my self.

Lets see what Bell does...

Bell says I have 30 days to exchange it, its a DOA.

Looks like theres going to be a fight with Best Buy. :lol

And I'm picking up an Epic 4G tomorrow. You're scaring me!

Sounds like you might have to send that phone back to Samsung.

New Archos tabs look awesome! Especially the 10.1"

Archos 101 ($300, mid-October) - Of all the Archos tablets, we're probably most excited about this 10.1-incher. Form factor-wise, the .5-inch thick tablet is plenty thin, and at .93-pound, it felt really light in hand compared to the iPad. The capacitive touchscreen was responsive and the 1GHz processor gave it enough power to play a 720p video. Like the 70, it has a front-facing VGA cam as well as USB and HDMI ports. It's also got a kickstand on the back that allows you to prop it up at a nice angle for typing on the on-screen keyboard. Obviously, there's a number of more Android tablets hitting soon, but this one definitely seems like a new contender in our book.

wOW, it actually has the same button layout as the NexusOne! Is that a first?

It's been the app store for Archos tablets since their first Android one. Apparently it got a huge upgrade recently, and they brag on their Twitter when they add paid apps and new countries and such.

Anyways the new Archos tablets looks good (I like they finally switched to capacitive screens, and they seem to stick closer and closer to stock with each new product), but as is always the case with me, no Market, no sale.

I just bought a droid 2 last week and freakin love it. Do you guys think the specs on it will be able to handle the "gingerbread" release of android?

Got my Epic. I don't know why I was thinking I needed a h/w kbd. This swype input works great.

The bad news is that the gps isn't working correctly in Google maps. It's fine in Sprint Navigation, so I'm not sure what's going on.

given that no one knows what the min specs for gingerbread are?

I'd be surprised if Nexus One didn't get Gingerbread, so the heavy hitters released after it should be fine.

Only thing is, the OG Droid might lose out. But them's the breaks.

Well that's why I asked. I didn't know if they had mentioned what phones would receive the update.
I would imagine all high end phones released this year will get gingerbread, Google has already debunked the rumors that gingerbread would require 1Ghz minimum to run so now I guess we have to wait til Nov or whenever they announce it.

I mean, not even the manufacturers know, I'm sure. I think it's just Google who knows (and is not telling.)

Thinking next year maybe splitting the Hardware thread into Smartphone and Tablet (& Other) threads. Thoughts?

I'm sure GoogleTV will get it's own thread (by someone other than me.)

That reminds me, I call the Chrome OS thread.

Well, let's hope whoever it is, they actually own a product that features GoogleTV :lol

Has there been an Android phone with xenon flash and a good camera yet? (and not Milestone XT720 which has horrible video and takes pretty mediocre photos)

I want to say the S-E X10... but probably not. The X10 does have a great camera though.

Ugh it's not directly Android related but I hate how new customers can get super deals while existing customers can sometimes get a deal (or not as good as one). Like you can get the Captivate for a penny if your a new AT&T customer, but if you are an existing customer out of contract that'll be $100. Then again I hate this idea across all forms of retail and service.

Tell them you want to cancel, and they'll probably offer you a better deal to stay.
Retention deals are the best :D

Yeah, call them up and make sure you use the magic word.

The 10 inch one is hot, I might break my rule and buy it. I use my brothers iPad for web browsing sometimes and it's a nice experience if for browsing and nothing else, so whichever is the cheapest and has decent specs out of the Archos and Samsung Tab will get my money.

I'm starting to get excited about the notion of using an Android tablet to DJ down the road. I've resisted using a laptop in part because there's no tactile interface. I was curious about using an iPad to DJ, but its storage limitations and Apple's closed philosophy sadly gimp that device from being an effective DJing machine. Hmm...

So my Galaxy S is with Bell, being sent in for repair.. Have a loaner phone. Nokia N97. Very strange phone.. trying to find my way around it. Already updated the OS and now installing OVI navigation.. :lol

99% sure the cheaper one will be Archos. :lol Especially if the Tab is super AMOLED.

:lol You're right. The Archos has pretty great specs and their emphasis on 2.2 is nice (and possibly a nice sign of things to come; 3.0 upgrade perhaps?) Pretty sure Archos is beating Sammy to 2.2 so this decision isn't too difficult. I'd like to hold out for a Moto or HTC but whatever, I feel like Android is Android is Android and I doubt anyone will beat $300.

Then again, I'm sure the Tab will be the only one of them with the Market and other Google apps.

Although, the Archos community has been pretty on the ball about hacking those onto the Archos devices.

Man after hearing that T-mobile is going to stop selling the MotoCLIQ soon, which basically means they given up supporting the phone, I've decided that the next phone i'm getting is going to be one that comes with a stock Android rom. None of that SENSE, MotoBLur and custom GUI shit for me. This is bullshit.... Hopefully we MotoCLIQ owners get to see the 2.1 update even though i'm running a leaked 2.1 on mine.

Samsung quality control is severely lacking unfortunately. Probably because they can't pump these things out fast enough.

yes it is, but for me, no market = no buy. What is this "no market" policy everyone talks about. Do they have to pay google ? I thought it was an integral part of Android, it's half of the value IMO.

Or maybe I misunderstand this and you can still access the apps some other way ?

did they announce the price somewhere?

Edit: as for the no marked Archos thing, I think it's because they never got it to work so Google made them take the broken app off.
