5 times the 3D graphics performance over the Hummingbird? whoa
For all those awesome 3D games that developers won't make because you don't design for the highest end specs imaginable.

Does anyone in here have an HTC Aria? I'm on AT&T (stuck there for now) and considering getting one. Anyone have any reports on it?

Supposedly the X10 is Ericsson's best selling smartphone in Japan...ever.

Still the best looking Android phone around, especially the white one. And we get 2.1...in two weeks!! Yay....while the rest of the world gets 2.2. Sigh. Need Sony designers to team up with HTC's business savvy.

I believe that's the only Android phone you can't install non-market apps on to?

We do have two of the best on the market right now with the Galaxy S on Bell and the Desire on Telus.

actually i think we have some of the best selection available right now (desire, galaxy, legend) which is very different from the usual old crap we get force fed up here...
I'm with Rogers and all I have is my X10 T_T Not a bad phone but it's not Evo 4G or anything. More variety would be nice! Honestly most of these phones are not top tier at all or have some major disadvantage(low res camera being the worse offender).

It's rather old, and won't meet the specs for gingerbread. IMO your best bet is to save up the cash for the Captivate instead.

I think all android phones on AT&T won't let you side load apps, but you can get around that with an app from the market place so you don't have to root your phone.

I love the hardware improvement as much as the next tech geek but there really isn't much on the market that would take advantage of all this power right now.
This is exactly what Android needs.

And this is why apple will always be one step ahead of google. I love android, but cheese on rice their is little too nothing that pushes hardware in the market place. The only quality apps are the ones made by google imo.

They won't always be one step ahead of Google. Android's user base is growing incredibly fast and the good developers will no longer want to miss out on all that potential revenue.

ya the tides are turning fast...very soon we will have major app releases on both android/iphone at the same time...

look at the ps groove exploit...it got ported to android 1st...

gota disagree galaxy is one of the most 'top tier' android phones out there now...we dont have 4G in canada yet anyways...

Fucking Rogers again!

Aug 4th - announce captivate is coming "in the coming weeks". One would Assume that meant before the end of august since the competitors already had their galaxy s phones.

Aug 19th- sign up for email updates page launches. Still no release date or price.

Today- get an email from mysterious site saying " check the page for new info!" turns out they've just put the android feature marketing bullshit up there with a "pre-order soon" in size 12 font on the bottom corner of one of the splash images.

Fuck me by the time this phone comes out it will be obsolete and I'm sure by this time next year will be getting fed a line about how the device will no longer be supported (or maybe that will happen sooner when gingerbread is released) I need something to replace this busted ass 3G asafp. The fucking browser on this thing crashes probably 10 times a day now with ios4. Grrrrrrrrrrr!

I am curious if the X10 on AT&T is worth getting over the Captivate. I hear it's getting 2.1 soon, but I also heard 2.2 isn't that far down the line for it. I can't decide on which phone I want on my at&t service.

Edit: Scratch that. Galaxy S is still my go to phone, if I go Android.

so rumor is that verizon will be pushing the shitty bing only (and no way to change it) search on android to all phones... way to go verizon!

Thats odd considering how friendly Verizon and Google have been. Maybe they're at odds concerning the future of the openness of the mobile internet.

Makes sense. I want my Google operating system, with all its slick integration of Google apps to be based around Bing's search engine. Yeah.... PEACE.

Epic...fail.

agggh evo or epic

Need a physical keyboard? If yes, Epic.

No? Evo. Save $50 and HTC seems to be better with their updates which means it'll probably get Gingerbread first.

+ Evo has more XDA support.

+ Evo has a battery life of about 3 minutes

I think the Droid line will still have Google search for the foreseeable future. All the commercials make a point of having Verizon | Google at the end.

So when are the first dual core phones due out? Hopefully before May next year - I'm on a shitty 24 month contract and my Windows Mobile 6.5 device is getting long in the tooth :(

Looking to upgrade from a G1. Right now its between Evo 4G and the Droid X, they seem like the hottest android phones right now (im not sure though, havent really been paying attention). Only thing that I really need is for the phone to be android. Any suggestions?

I was in the same boat and went evo. I like the larger screen and slimmer form factor. Can't imagine going back to the old iphone screen size after using the evo. Plus the extra screen real estate makes the virtual keyboard tolerable.

Good old Sony. Like I said, you need Sony's designers matched with HTC's business and software development savvy. That said, Sense is a load of shit. My friend lost her contact icon and fuck me if I could get it back for her, Sense just got in the way. Stock Android FTW. Gingerbread or bust! (bust on X10, I'd be surrprised if we even got 2.2).

Any chance AT&T will get anything else Android wise the rest of the year that would be as good or better than the Captivate?

So I'm thinking seriously about getting a Captivate this week. I'm kinda pissed I missed the amazon deal though where I could have gotten it on my non primary family plan life for $99.

It's now $150, and I really want the phone. Yet I'm sort of wondering if I should wait and see if I can get it for $100 down the road be it from amazon or else where like Best Buy or Newegg.

Not sure what I want to do....

looks like its not an exclusive anymore, and that the samsung will get the option to change to google with the 2.2 update

My Samsung Captivate turned itself off today and needed to remove/put back the battery for it to turn on. FUUUUUUUUUU. This is my 2nd Captivate and Im out of the 30 days now. Seriously wtf Samsung.

Ugh I keep hearing this problem....

I want to order one this week, but I keep hearing shit like this. It reaaaaallly makes me hesitate.

Yep alot of issues sadly. I imagine my second captivate is from same manufactor date as my first since I got it at target. Maybe newer ones are fixed. I'm mostly annoyed that its being ignored.

Yeah there is a 26 page thread on this over at the XDA forums. A buddy ordered his captivate yesterday so I might see how his goes.

As of now though I think for my own piece of mind it's either get an iphone 4, wait for win phone 7 shit, or see if this gets fixed in a 2.2 patch. I'm just not in the mood to get a phone now that I know has a high chance of being fucked and needing to be exchanged.
