Not unpossible since the GPU tech in "next gen" systems are like 6 years old.

does anyone have the viewsonic G tablet? a Tegra 2 tablet is tempting at 399, how is the community support? What are the chances of it getting honeycomb? (i'm sure unofficially it will happen)

That' some ridiculous BS right there! :lol

I'll believe Qualcomm's gaming performance claims when they finally deliver a decent driver for Android.

In all seriousness, I'm quite curious what exactly Adreno 3xx is. Whether its a new architecture or just a beefed up AMD Z430.

Does anyone else remember this story from May?

I want this chip to be true! Where is it?!

They're talking about standby battery life, nothing particularly amazing really. Peak power consumption still compares very poorly to high end ARM.

Dude was on some serious crack to actually believe that. I don't actually think there are any phones (smart or otherwise) which run on an Intel platform.

Intel have a few design wins, LG being among them. Nothing significant on the market yet.

The MSM8960 will begin sampling in 2011, meaning we likely won’t see smartphones based on it until 2012.

Meh. Samsung Orion based handsets should be offering that level of graphics performance in early 2011, if it is indeed SGX543MP2 based.

The Archos 101 went on sale again yesterday and sold out again in 5 hours. Wow. Back to no longer available.

i was looking at that, but i'm tempted by the G tablet since it has the tegra 2 chipset in it. It has shit software, but it appears the xda community is pretty big. I have no doubt that XDA can get honeycomb on to this as the hardware should be similar to a lot of the pads coming out when honeycomb launches.

Lately, been wanting to get the htc desire HD, it looks great but so expensive, its out of stock everywhere, and I'm not hearing great things about it's battery life... Then started reading reviews and Impressions for the htc desire z and I'm liking what I'm hearing, other than the CPU being slower...

I want a new phone, but unsure which to get, I told myself htc desire HD will be the one for me but I'm not so convinced now because of the price, availability and battery life... Anyone like to give me some help?

If the 4" screen isn't necessary for you just get the Desire. Or wait for the Nexus S.

I always wonder, why are the GPU specs so important for Android phones? I understand they can use the GPU to accelerate software, but are there really enough (worthwhile) 3D applications to take advantage of all that power and justify the price on a macro level as opposed to just minor enhancements? It seems to me that investing more in the CPU and memory is the way to go.

Frankly I'm tired of all the gpu related news. It's pointless right now. I want to hear more about faster processors and multi core cpus.

My mom is on the verge of stealing my HTC Desire. When is Gingerbread going to be showcased? I haven't followed android news lately and the only thing I could find is "soon", but hopefully a new show or an announcement of an announcement was announced and it will be shown there.
The Nexus S, if the leaks are indeed true, is quite tempting. The LG Tegra 2phone looks incredible as well... I'm a bit scared of getting one when it's released though. Does LG have a record of releasing OS updates early or will I have to wait for months?
I'd rather have a weaker phone but faster OS updates, honestly.

Rumor control to major tom: (Link) - http://gizmodo.com/5694206/rumor-motorolas-olympus-is-a-dual+core-android-phone

Apparently this is the first Dual-Core chip along with Tegra2 as well. I can't help but say holy @#!*% if this thing doesn't blow the socks of the speed barrier.

I would so love for each manufacturer to have their own "Nexus" unit.

Nexus Samsung
Nexus Motorola

etc.

All Google phones, updated by Google. One can dream.

I would probably jump on that Motorola.

Well I would imagine we'll start hearing about it once Gingerbread bakes it way out of the oven here in the next week or two. Really excited to see what these DC phones do with battery life.

if the nexus s doesnt have both a dual core chipset and support for tmobiles HSPA+ i'll be buying the olympus as soon as it comes out. I've been waiting on that phone since before the nexus s was known to be alive... i wish it would be vanilla.

Aren't you on AT&T though Gcubed? Then again, you've jumped carriers for different phones in the past haven't you? :D

I actually surprised we haven't seen more of the Nexus S since the Web 2.0 summit last week.

The Moto Olympus is supposed to come for At&t first, notably
Yup which will hopefully spring up some competition some since now we've got iPhone's, WM7 phones, Captivate (Galaxy S) and maybe soon Nexus S and/or this fella.

yeah i'm on ATT currently but i was going to jump to tmobile if the S fulfills my wants... otherwise i'll wait it out on ATT

In other news related to smartphones that will kick our ass, Acer just revealed 4.8' device with 1024 x 480 resolution:

acer-4.8-smartphone.jpg

Acer may be calling this "100 percent smartphone. 100 percent tablet.," but something just doesn't add up there. That being said, we have to agree that a 1024x480 screen resolution on a 4.8-inch smartphone is downright drool-worthy. Clocking in at just a smidgen smaller than Dell's Streak, this here phone (no finalized name has been bestowed quite yet) was just revealed at Acer's Global press event in New York City. It was only shown briefly, demonstrating an unknown version of Android and the "evolution of Acer UI." Specs wise, there's a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, 8 megapixel rear camera (with LED flash), 720p video recording, a six-axis gyroscope and LED edge lighting. Per usual, Acer's keeping a lid on any pricing estimates, but it'll be shipping out to gap-jawed customers everywhere in April 2011.

Probably...and with their own skin >_<
Just drives me nuts that some of these super devices purposely gimp their devices with either a) a shitty UI that does nothing for the user b) locked to the carrier or manufacture in which never release the updates in a timely fashion.

I swear, if I had enough start up money, I would start a company just to manufacture Google Experience phones and release the updates the same day Google did. I'm sure there's a market.

ADW/Launcher Pro will save us

Awesome! I'm probably just gana stick to the Samsung Intercept on VM though. It's nice that there are more options for non-contract Android phones, I think all the non-contract services now have an Android option.

Also we need more tablet talk : http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/23/acer-introduces-7-inch-and-10-inch-android-tablets/

I'm satisfied with my N1. I can wait for the MSM8960.

4.8 inches is kinda... who am I kidding? It's freakin huge. I can't imagine it looking that much less sillier to use than the Dell Streak.

To give you an idea. But actually holding it yourself will give you a true answer.
Some "big" guys might not mind the bigger phones.

I think 3.7 to 4.0 inches screens are fine for me.
I would have to hold a 4.8" phone to make my final decision to buy though.

4.8 inches just seems like a weird aspect ration as well. Just seems like it's extra long or something, and you can tell cause the resolution bumpb is purely vertical pixels too. IDK 4" seems like the sweet spot for me phone wise. Table wise I'm not sure yet, but I'm thinking maybe 7".

You should continue waiting.

for the moto? I'd much rather jump to a cheaper faster network, the nexus S has more going for it, but if its not dual core with HSPA+ support i'm out

hey there samsung, this would be a great time to release froyo for those of us here in the states that bought a galaxy s. like my vibrant.
