I don't know where to ask this but it's quite important(!).
My father wanted a game on the Android Marketplace on his new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro, I let him borrow from me so I put in my creditcard information.

Now everytime he goes to buy another app, it automatically selects my creditcard and it is now free to use. How do I remove my creditcard information? I have tried logging in on Google.com and Google Checkouts but there's nothing.

Please, any help? =(
Bumped for new page, this is urgent, as I do not feel comfortable having my cc info on anyone elses phone.

Verizon has some nice 4G phones coming in q2, but they'll probably require a 4G charge. The Thunderbolt and "Unnamed Samsung 4G phone" looks nice as well.

I you decide tho stick with At&t, the Infuse 4G looks nice as well:

Yup, the Infuse 4G looks good.

Have reached out to AT&T to get an answer on the contract thing.

Can't you just pick any phone with your renewed contract and bring it back within 30 days for an Atrix (which I believe is supposed to come out within the month)?

Remove from his google checkout account, not yours. The checkout account is associated with the current google account on the phone, so you essentially entered your cc info in his checkout account on his google account.

Thank you sir, that helped!

It looks like T-Mobile and Sprint aren't getting much in the way of high-end Android phones any time soon. It's a sad day when AT&T actually has some of the more interesting Android phones coming down the pipe.

I'm not sure what to do now, because I'm stuck with T-Mobile and it looks like the Nexus S is my only option for the forseeable future.

To Nexus S, or not Nexus S.

I guess I will stick with my Nexus One, until a Tegra-2 phone comes to T-Mo... if one ever does.

TMO said they will have over 20 4G devices this year, so they may just get some Tegra 2 love down the road. ATT also said over 20, and we have only seen a few. It all depends on how soon you want something.

we still have 2 more phone conferences. 1 in feb, 1 in march. i wouldn't count out new phones for everyone just yet

Pretty sure the LG 2X hasn't been announced for a U.S. carrier. Probably go to T-Mob?

also, HTC doesn't use Tegra2, correct? When will HTC have dual core phones?

and I guess Apple's next SOC will be the A5 or whatever. Are they expected to go dual core?

Thank you, this was very helpful. I guess I just have to wait because I'm too scared to root my phone.

G2 doesn't, from what others have told me here.

rooting is nothing like jailbreaking, it is much easier and it doesn't do anything to your guarantee. There are apps which root your phone with only one single click. Roms are one of the biggest and best features of Android (in my eyes).

They do not only give you firmware updates months before its release, but they also give you many, many, MANYYYY features which you will probably never get from your original Android version.

Installing Roms is a very easy task as well and doesnt need any further knowledge about anything. For example all you need to do this:

you download a file and put it on your SD Card -> you restart the phone and hold a particular button to get in to the recovery mode -> you choose apply update and the rom is being installed and after a restart you have a new Rom.

Besides you can always unroot your phone and go back to the original Firmware.

Sprint never usually shows anything big at CES they usually save their flagship phone and big announcements for CTIA and have there big name phones drop in the early part of Summer.

Sprint tends to make their big announcements at CTIA in March (CES for the Pre a few years ago seems to be a one off... plus the wait between announcement and actual release for that really back fired on them from a PR perspective), so I'd hold off on making any big judgements on their Android line-up until then.

EDIT: Dre and I seem to share a brain...

Well there are some stuck on 1.6 or so, and it could require 2.x at least. But I think I know what you mean :D

unsure if 2.2 has the DRM in place for it either... at least for netflix?

I'm sure it won't matter. :lol

Let me just say that I am not worried that I won't be enjoying Netflix on my Droid X at some point down the line.

I thought rooting voided warranty? Yes, I know you can unroot.

2.2 though and Samsung is epicly shitty about updating their phones. They've promised 2.2 for their Galaxy S phones that released LAST JUNE, then some in Europe got an update, but nothing for the NA phones, which have sold millions of fucking units, so you'd think they'd be highly prioritized for getting updates. No updates, no nothing. But with Google themselves dragging their feet on Gingerbread for even the stock Nexus One, the Android situation is embarrassing. I would say to buy a phone with the latest version of Android first and foremost, rather than just picking sexy hardware and relying on an update at some unspecified date in the future. The trend is that the update will not happen, or will happen AFTER a newer version of the OS comes out, making it even more painful.

And since the popular thing nowadays is to blame the carriers, I just want to ONCE AGAIN reiterate that the Nexus One still does not have Gingerbread and still doesn't have any sort of defined timeline for getting it either.

That's what a factory refresh is for.
Yup, I get that too, but I just wanted to clarify Carlos' statement.

Back on topic, I'm really disappointed that the galaxy tab 2 is coming out so soon considering I just got my tab at Christmas (as a present). I really want to sell my tab and hold the cash for a month until the new ones come out but evidently that would offend the gift giver. Fuck.

They aren't calling it the Tab 2 are they? I thought I read it was just very minor spec bumps?

They kinda have to if they want to sell anymore with all these announcements at CES. Pretty sure most people knew an Android tablet in 2010 would be a stop-gap solution until Honeycomb was released.

Dual core and better cam at least. That would certainly reduce the lag with my blue sky wallpaper. I do like the form factor though.

Motor honeycomb tab has a mid feb release right? Fuck I want one.

They aren't calling it the Tab 2, it just has an improved back camera 4G and the processor was increased to 1.2Ghz from 1Ghz. I'm sure the actually Tab 2 will have dual core and probably SLCD screen.

According to VZW at the their press conference yesterday the 4G devices wouldn't start coming out til March.

Do people really want phones that are this fucking big?

not me

It appears all Verizon LTE phones are 4.3" while AT&T and LG's variants are 4". Verizon customers have bigger hands confirmed? =(

I really don't see 4" phones to be all that big really and my hands aren't huge even the EVO 4.3" doesn't seem that big to me, now the 5" Streak that's a different story.

Actually AT&T has the biggest phone announced, the Samsung phone is 4.5".

I really have to see the 4.3" in person but IMO 4" is the perfect size. My only experience with a 4.3" phone is the Droid X which is just too big for me.

Edit: I was just pointing out that for some reason there's no phones smaller than 4.3" for Verizon. I wish there would be different models so that there's some semblance of a choice.

Actually AT&T has the biggest phone announced, the Samsung phone is 4.5".

And the Dell Streak, which is a massive 5".

4" - 4.1" is probably the sweet spot, but I need something bigger, as my gargantuan hands won't tolerate anything smaller than 3.5". I tried to use a palm pre 2 for a minute, and I couldn't get over how small the keys were. Diff strokes, I guess.

what's the difference between getting a phone at best buy compared to the phone store?

nothing, usually 3rd parties have much better deals on phones. Amazon is usually insane at phone deals.

I really want to watch this when I get home from work and have sound.

Engadget comments say the dude says Honeycomb is the future direction of Android, so I'm guessing we'll see many of the design elements shift over to the phone version (Ice Cream?).
He clearly stated that Honeycomb is for all types of Android devices. It's built to be scaleable.

Agreed.

I've been happy with my Nexus One until now, but it's ludicrous the way Google have dealt with Gingerbread and the N1.

no problems linking to your existing account? Honestly I've always gone to the verizon store. I just figure they know more of what their doing than the 3rd party people.

Google said "coming weeks" before Christmas for the N1 Gingerbread upgrade. It's not a great timeline, but it isn't exactly a lack of one either. I'm assuming it's mostly to give them space to get past holiday vacations and the initial coming out party for Honeycomb at CES this week. If N1 doesn't get Gingerbread by end of January then...hell to pay.

They said coming weeks near the beginning of December. Not getting out before the end of the year is inexcusable. And their messaging on the situation is absolutely terrible and should give prospective Nexus S users pause.

"Before Christmas" is only technically accurate. It was the first week of December, or one month ago. I can't think of one good reason we don't have it yet. It was done well before the holiday rush. I guess they wanted to give the S an exclusivity window with gingerbread, but its getting ridiculous now.

All these announcements are killing me!

I have had my phone upgrade discount from Verizon since mid-December, and have been month-to-month with Verizon since September. I'm still using an LG EnV and I've been wanting to upgrade to a smartphone so bad (the DroidX release was a very stressful time for me :lol ).

Basically I'm living in an area where 4G isn't even a remote possibility, but 3G coverage seems to be about equal for all the national carriers, and I'm unsure whether I should stick with Verizon or jump ship to a less expensive carrier, let alone whether I should pull the trigger now on a smartphone or wait until (March!!!?) for the dual-core phones to start rolling out. Decisions, decisions :-(
